Buying a new car is about as painful an experience as one can imagine, but Darrell and the folks at Brilliance managed to take most of the pain out of it. Darrell is a very knowledgeable salesman with a gre can imagine, but Darrell and the folks at Brilliance managed to take most of the pain out of it. Darrell is a very knowledgeable salesman with a great personality and treated us with respect which is much more than I can say about other dealers we visited. I think we could have gotten a slightly better price, but I wasn't going to mess up a deal that met all of our expectations and requirements over a couple hundred dollars. I would highly recommend Darrell and the folks at Brilliance for anyone interested in buying a new or used car. More
I would strongly recommend this dealership. After a horrible and insulting visit to McGrath Honda in Elgin, it was wonderful to meet Darrell Herbert--a sales executive that actually wanted to sell us a horrible and insulting visit to McGrath Honda in Elgin, it was wonderful to meet Darrell Herbert--a sales executive that actually wanted to sell us a car and not insult us in the process. Everything from the initial greeting to the departure from the lot was exceptional. Price was very fair and they spent the necessary time negotiating a deal. More

My wife and I owned a Maxima and Tahoe with a 1.5 year old son. We have a daughter on the way and thought it was about time to replace our vehicles with something easier with kids. The first to be repla old son. We have a daughter on the way and thought it was about time to replace our vehicles with something easier with kids. The first to be replaced was the maxima and at the time we had not considered a Honda to replace it as we liked our Nissan dealership. We decided to go with a middle tier Nissan Rogue which is our second vehicle and is only used to go to and from work. Then we had our Tahoe which in all driving conditions had been great. My wife and I always said we would never be a minivan family, but friends of ours said to just sit in it and give it a chance. After sitting in it for about 5 minutes and seeing all the features designed for family life - it was only ignorance that was keeping us in the mentality to stay with a SUV. The sales staff (starting with Ryan Hansen our sales guy) was all about finding out what we wanted. Never have I had anyone say "I don't think this is right for you and you would just be spending too much." Ryan was very personal in finding out how we spent our time on weekends and what type of vehicle/accessories would be right for us. In the end - we went with the Honda Odyssey (non-touring model, as with two iphones no need for the navigation and the fog lights were not appealing to us). We did not purchase the vehicle until the third visit where my wife and I both had a chance to sit in it, drive it and get all the information. Not in any of those meetings did Ryan even push for a sale. He asked if we wanted to know what price he could start at and I said no the first visit and he said OK - let him know. He gave me his cell phone and I was able to TXT him with any questions - it was great to communicate outside of going into the dealership. The purchase of the vehicle had one hiccup, but was so brushed under the rug with the customer service I recieved after that night. It was a little mistake that I was willing to let slide (as it was funny), but Warren and Ryan insisted that they do something for us to make it right. We had "The Protector" interior/exterior protection and a two-way remote start added as part of the purchase. When I came into the service department - it was all smiles and how they could help me. The loaner process was easy as could be and the installers did a fantastic job on the remote start and exterior protection. We also recieved a set of the all season mats. When I stopped by the dealership to pick them up (as I thought I could install them on my own) the service staff was almost insistant that they help and install them for me. In the end - I just took the mats as it seemed to easy for them to help, but the fact that they wanted to, offered it to me several times shows the customer service aspect of Brilliance Honda. Looking back - Brilliance Honda has so far exceeded our expectations that if we had replaced the tahoe first - we probably would be Honda only family. Looks like Brilliance will have to wait for about 3.5 years, but I think I can honestly say that we are now a Honda family because of the complete package offered by Brilliance Honda. More
My wife Ginna had her 2009 CRV totaled by a van that hit her from behind while she was stopped at a red light. Fortunately she was OK and thankfully Darrell Herbert and the staff at Brilliance made buying a her from behind while she was stopped at a red light. Fortunately she was OK and thankfully Darrell Herbert and the staff at Brilliance made buying a replacement a positive experience. My only complaint, and I saw this mentioned in another review, is the dealership's addition of the "protection package" to all CRVs. The package includes splash guards, wheel locks and a cargo mat. It adds $400-$500 (can't remember the exact amount) to the price of the vehicle. We were able to negotiate this amount down considerably and have the cargo mat removed. Given more time to buy a car we might have ended up at another dealership that does not add this package. Speaking of negotiating a price, anyone who walks into a car dealership without knowing the exact dealer cost of a vehicle is crazy. I use Consumer Reports and gladly pay $14 to get a report when I have decided which car I am going to buy. My other car buying tip is to avoid trading in a car if at all possible. We have used E-Bay successfully twice. It is well worth the hassle of selling a used car yourself in order to have to avoid negotiating a trade-in amount on top of the car you are buying. More
