We apologize if there was a mis-communication regarding the issues your vehicle was demonstrating when you brought it in for diagnostic. As such, we spoke with the Service Manager who shared with us that the issue your Passat was experiencing is defined as an, “intermittent issue” or one that can come and go each time you start the car. By chance, It just so happened to start and drive when you requested your personal belongings after the purchase of your CPO. The repairs we quoted you still have to take place before we can ever consider reselling your Passat. We hope this clears the air on how/ why your car was able to drive around to greet you. We're sorry to hear there was some confusion on whether or not your son's car is inspectable and safe to drive. The truth is, that Brandon stating your son has 10k miles left before he needs to replace his tires is a suggestion based on VW guidelines for "normal" replacement period. The "recommended" period does not take into consideration how the vehicle has been driven, as many styles of driving can wear the tires sooner than anticipated. The inspection report provided to you shows that the actual wear is greater than that caused by "normal" driving. We always reccommend changing tires before they get to dangerous levels to ensure safety of the vehicle occupants. We're standing by if you all decide to go ahead and swap them out. Talk soon.
