Service Tried To Sell Services We didn't need So my wife same in for an oil change and warranty service (which was completed) and was told the brakes had "lots of rust" and he certainly wouldn't t So my wife same in for an oil change and warranty service (which was completed) and was told the brakes had "lots of rust" and he certainly wouldn't travel on our planned Thanksgiving trip. Tried to sell a brake job but it wasn't covered under warranty. Just took the car to our usual location for service for an assessment. According to their assessment have at least 50% life left on our front brakes (which is what they said we needed) and well over 25% life left on our rear (which they say were fine). Their quote, "You will probably need brakes some time next year." It does make you wonder ... would they have tried to sell me new brakes? Or did they just see my wife coming and decide she was an easy mark? More

My car was serviced by the Chesterton Nissan and died again after being serviced. My car died on Tuesday night and is still sitting where it died on Saturday with the key under the mat and unlocked. Their tow truck driver said he called 5 times and left messages. He was supposed to pick it up on Wednesday and then Thursday and I trusted it had been picked up. Not! More
Absolutely aweful I've never bought a car there, but somehow they got my name and continuously mail bomb me these offers of "free" something, a new Altima, $10,000 etc, I've never bought a car there, but somehow they got my name and continuously mail bomb me these offers of "free" something, a new Altima, $10,000 etc, or at least a guaranteed gift card. Since I live close, I'd go in and see what what they were all about, kick some tires, etc. After 3 of these "non winners"(no surprise there), I received 2 $50 gift cards and 1 $25 gift card. I planned to use them for a fuel system cleaning on one of my vehicles-which they had on a special for the month of September. My wife astutely noticed a sign saying all "coupons" had to be presented upon arrival, no exceptions, so even though a gift card is not a coupon, I decided it would be prudent to show them my $125 worth of gift cards(the service writer said with taxes the procedure would be about $124). Once I presented the gift cards, the service writer not only said he could only accept 1 of the gift cards, he also stated that he could not even give me the sale price on the fuel system cleaning. That's it, never again. Will NEVER EVER EVER do business with these people again. More
Damaged my car and didn't offer ANYTHING to make up for it. DAMAGED MY CAR AND BASICALLY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM!!! Brought my sport's car in to re-set the tire pressure sensors and to pick up a battery for my key remote. Got the complementary car wash..... DON'T EVER GET THE CAR WASH!!!! When my car was brought back to me, there were several deep, paint damaging scratches in my driver side door. They were in a row about 5-7 inches long, lined up in a PERFECTLY vertical manner. I drive a convertible and hand wash it since it is not safe for the top to go through any automatic car-washes.... I KNOW where all of my larger, noticeable dings and parking lot scratches are..... They tried to convince me that they were there before.... When I had none of that, they brought out the paperwork and pointed out the text next to the "free" car wash line. It claims that by accepting the wash, they are no longer responsible for ANY DAMAGE THAT HAPPENS TO THE CAR!!!! I was pretty much told that I was out of luck, and didn't even get anything that felt like a sincere apology. My significant other works near this dealership, and afterwards they told me about other horror stories that they have heard about this place. Apparently, they have a reputation and history. PROTECT YOUR CAR! GO TO A DIFFERENT PLACE!!!! More
Claimed to Be Out of Network for the Warranty Nissan Sold Me I bought a Road Hazard and Tire warranty through Nissan when I purchased my 2014 Nissan Rogue. I purchased this vehicle at another dealer because Bob I bought a Road Hazard and Tire warranty through Nissan when I purchased my 2014 Nissan Rogue. I purchased this vehicle at another dealer because Bob Rohrman did not have the color and body style I wanted, and they tried to use high pressure, tag team style sales pitches to keep me in their dealership. That being said, I brought my Rogue to them yesterday for service on a tire. I called the warranty service line prior to arriving at the dealership and verified that Bob Rohrman was on the network. Upon arrival, the service advisor took an immediate offense to my prior authorization. She stated that she would have to call herself and then that I would be responsible to pay the cost of repair and be reimbursed afterward by the warranty company. I told her I had called previously and made sure that would not be the case, but nevertheless she sent us to the waiting lounge while she made her call. A few minutes later, she smugly informed us that she was right, and we were incorrect, and that we would need to pay the repair up front. Of course, I took my keys and left. In addition, the Rogue has experienced a variety of intermittent problem with the electronics. The Nissan Navigation and Connect systems are wonderful, but have several gremlins that creep up. Nissan has asked us to allow the dealerships to run diagnostics whenever we are there, and have experienced issues. I have had this done at several deaelrships, even out of state, in order to hopefully provide the information necessary to pinpojnt the problems and help Nissan fix them. Bob Rohrman Nissan, however, wanted to charge me over 130$ for this service. REDICULOUS!!! Bob Rohrman Nissan refused to honor a warranty that I purchased through Nissan, refused to accept the warranty that they are certified in as a licensed dealer, and I believe the reason they did this was because I did not purchase the vehicle there, and when asked why I actually told them the truth. I will never darken the door of this dealership again, and should me vehicle break down on the road in front of the dealer, I will pay out of pocket to have it towed to a dealer that actually cares about customer service. I have used Bob Rohrman Nissan of Chesterton in Burns Harbor for the past 2 years. I recently had a diagnostic test and they found a problem. I was having another ongoing problem the day I took my car in Harbor for the past 2 years. I recently had a diagnostic test and they found a problem. I was having another ongoing problem the day I took my car in to get it fixed which was not investigated during my previous diagnostic test. They offered me another diagnostic test for an additional $115. In my opinion, a diagnostic test costing a whopping $115 should cover all issues that are occurring at that time. During the initial diagnostic test I did state multiple symptoms (issues) that were occurring with my car. I was basically told that if I had six problems that the total price would be $115 x 6. When I picked my car up the check engine light was on and nothing was said about this. Additionally, I had to call to see if my car was finished. I expected more and I am very disappointed in their service and the way I was treated. More
My spouse and I brought our 2008 Nissan Sentra in for an oil change/maintenance call. While we were waiting the friendly, knowledgable sales people (George Barron) showed us the new 2011 Sentra and after talking about our current credit/financial situation(we were not planning on buying/trading a new car, we were only planning on an oil change)we left Nissan of Chesterton with not one but, two 2011 vehicles. In 12/2010 we traded our 2006 Chevy Tahoe for a 2008 Chevy Silverado with another dealer in the area and through working with both George and Tom found out that the vehicle we purchased was in a minor accident (hit an animal) and that it was not the upgraded Z71 package as were told by the other dealer (information discovered when a CarFax report was ran and discussed). The other dealer told us that they too ran a CarFax report but failed to tell us the details and only indicated everything was ok. In addition, there were stickers/decals on the 2008 Silverado indicating it was a Z71 (although a little crooked which we really did't notice), but again, we were mislead by the other dealer. Tom (the finance guy) was great! We told him about our current credit/finance situation and didn't believe we'd get a loan as our credit union barely approved us for a high interest loan of 11.5% when we bought the Silverado. Not only were we able to get the finance we were approved at 0.9% rate for 72 months, a deal we couldn't pass up. We traded our 2008 Sentra for a 2011 Sentra and traded the 2008 Silverado for a 2011 Titan! We LOVE them both! Kudos to both George and Tom for helping us save money on interest, providing us with complete honesty, and a great buying experience that left us feeling confident about our purchases! Nissan of Chesterton has definiately earned our future business! More
