Horrible experience. Purchased a new 2014 Volvo XC 90 and the odometer failed day one. They ordered a new DIM and installed it. This process made the car stay in the sop for 5 out of the 9 dyas I owned and the odometer failed day one. They ordered a new DIM and installed it. This process made the car stay in the sop for 5 out of the 9 dyas I owned it. They could not get the computer to sync with the new odometer and said it was illegal to deliver my car with an inaccurate odometer. 2 days later they delivered the car and all the miles were erased. This I know is illegal. This will casue major complications when I sell this vehicle down the road since I cant swear to true miles. This cannot be fixed! I have had to retain a consumer protection attorney out of Denver to handle my problems. They will not return calls unless you go to the owner. Horrilbe! More
If you go to buy vehicles from them be prepared to either pay out right or you will risk loosing the vehicle. I was a week ahead of another individual, had my credit ran and all my info taking; next thing i pay out right or you will risk loosing the vehicle. I was a week ahead of another individual, had my credit ran and all my info taking; next thing i know I get a call stating the vehicle is gone. No hey can we do this now, no we will take the payment now, just gone. According to the dealership this was seen as being ok and happens and I quote "happens all the time". So let it be known that since it happens all the time you are more than likely going to get screwed. Waste of time and credit hit. I also feel maybe USAA should not represent a business with such actions that are considered plan of the day. More
I'm in the military, so this is the 4th dealership I've taken my Volvo into to be serviced, and I've always had outstanding service. Bob Penkhus was by FAR the worst service I have ever received. I co I've taken my Volvo into to be serviced, and I've always had outstanding service. Bob Penkhus was by FAR the worst service I have ever received. I couldn't get answers to simple questions about cost, I was blatantly lied to, and I spent days calling to fix something that broke two days after the service (only to not get a call back). Several other things happened in my only THREE visits, but these were the most unacceptable. I had been contemplating buying a new car for a year, and the horrible experiences were just the motivation I needed to buy a new car. The blatant lie that I was told: I dropped my car off to have the lights on my interior driver-side mirror fixed along with some other issues. Once it was fixed the service department was to take my car to their auto body shop to have a dent on the rear- passenger side bumper fixed. When I picked up the car the lights were still not working. The service department rep told me he thought the auto-body shop was going to fix my interior lights. HUH? He told me this with a straight face! I'm a female, and I don't know much about cars, but how stupid would I have to be to fall for that one? I took the car back a few months later because my rear locks weren't working and to try to get the light fixed again. Of course I asked for a different rep. Things were going great until 2 days after picking up my car the light wasn't working. On a Friday, I called the dealership twice and the operator directed me to Volvo service, and no one picked up. The third time the operator tried calling herself and said no one picked up so she would leave a note for them. On Saturday, at 1pm I still had not received a call back so I called again. My service rep was out that day, but they said he would call me on Monday. Two weeks later I have still not received a call back. The weekend after my last call I bought an Audi and traded in the Volvo. I'm so glad I'll never have to work with them again! More
My husband and I purchased a 2013 Jetta-Sportwagon in June of 2013 (6mos ago). Within the first month we had 3 things go wrong with our brand new vehicle. We Scheduled an appointment to have the vehicl June of 2013 (6mos ago). Within the first month we had 3 things go wrong with our brand new vehicle. We Scheduled an appointment to have the vehicle worked on and left our car with the service department for the day to get a phone call that we have to bring the car back due to parts had to be ordered. Understandable... Once parts were in we again dropped off our car for the day to be serviced. We received a call at end of the day that our car would need to stay at dealership a few days to have all the work completed. I was offered a loner vehicle. The loner vehicle was just about on empty gas wise, filthy inside with sticky substance and covered with what looked liked dog hair. The outside of vehicle had collision damage and you could barely see out of the windows which seem to have a film type substance on them. So I give the dealership my Brand New Spotless Vehicle inside & out to receive a filthy/dirty loner car. Not acceptable if you ask me. As you can imagine we are not happy with our experience thus far. Then when we did finally receive our vehicle back and expressed our concerns with a one month old vehicle purchase to the assistant service manager (B.D). his response was unsympathetic as if this was the routine and expected of Volkswagen as a whole. During the holidays while out looking a Christmas lights I rolled down the back drivers side window so my son could look out. When I went to roll the window backup it would not do so. We heard what sounded to like a window/motor drop down inside the door panel of a now 6 month old car. Again UNACCEPTABLE! With the traveling that we do our car is now ready for it's 10000 mile service maintenance and repair of the broken window/motor. I called this morning to schedule an appointment. I was asked if I'd be waiting on site for my vehicle to be worked on, if I needed a shuttle, or if I had other transportation? I replied, with my last experience at the service center that I'd like a loner car up front knowing they'd need to keep my vehicle over night. I was told there are no loner available at this time. I then asked to please schedule me for when the next available loner car would be available due to the fact that I too need transportation and could not be without a car. I was then told that I'd have to get a call back from someone who could discuss this situation with me... So her we go again... Long story short the hassle I originally went through to purchase a car from this dealership was not fun nor pleasant, however I have left out the details from that experience just wanting to move on and get past it. Then the way my husband and I were treated for expressing our concerns with our purchase of a brand new vehicle at the time of the service repair on the defective vehicle brings me back to why I'm now writing a review. I think the whole situation is sad and unsatisfactory. I'm now waiting for that return phone call, it's been over 2 hours and nothing. Overall our experience has been nothing but unpleasant and it seems as though it continues... So so sad Bob Penkhus! More
My sister and I were on the hunt for a used car since her car was considered a "total loss" due to an uninsured motorist hitting her days prior. We had one full day to find her a car while I was in Colorado car was considered a "total loss" due to an uninsured motorist hitting her days prior. We had one full day to find her a car while I was in Colorado Springs, so there was no dilly-dallying or messing around. We both had done extensive research on the internet days before, so by the time we got out there, we had ideas, but unfortunately it had all become a blur. Bob Penkhus in Motor City was one of the first places we went to see a used Volvo we thought they had, a by-product of the "internet blur". As we opened the Bob Penkhus sales door, we were greeted by five people at the reception desk (oh boy, here we go!), and lucky for us, Andy Dearing stepped forward to help with a friendly smile and a nice handshake. Like I said, my sister and I were on a mission. We got right to the point with Andy, and after we figured out they weren't the ones with the Volvo, we let him show us what they did have - a solid group of used cars from the PBA (Public Before Auction) cars, which if one REALLY knows about cars is a great assortment, to the "upper lot" cars that have been inspected by Bob Penkhus, starting around $10G's and up. The whole time, Andy shot straight with us and really tried to figure out what my sister wanted within our price range. He never came across as a "slick" used car salesman. Instead, he was truly honest, wonderfully sincere and very helpful even showing me how to tell if a car has been in an accident. Five hours later (yes, it can take that long to negotiate just one car!), we came away with a beautiful 2006, one-owner, Lincoln Zephyr with 94,000 miles. Andy had truly gone to bat for us (really, he did!) with Mr. OZ behind the curtain which is always a song and dance routine for everybody involved. My sister and I highly recommend giving Bob Penkhus a visit for used cars, and definitely using Andy Dearing as your sales representative! You won't be sorry. He's a gem! PostScript: My sister took her "new" car into her Ford mechanic (after we'd bought it. Gulp!). He looked it over pretty thoroughly, was impressed, and said all she needed was new front brake pads in 10,000 more miles. We had trusted Andy at Bob Penkhus, and the two mechanics he brought out to talk to us who had inspected and serviced the car, and we weren't wrong to do so. A big relief! More
I just had as nice a service visit as could be. I'm traveling through and needed a new head light bulb. They made room in their schedule and had me on my way in an hour. Topped off the fluids and check traveling through and needed a new head light bulb. They made room in their schedule and had me on my way in an hour. Topped off the fluids and checked the tire pressures too. I was impressed at David's pride in the technicians and their experience. I'll make a point to visit the dealership again. More
Lester was a wonderful salesperson. He helped me find the right VW for me and got me a great deal on some other cars. I will surely come back just because of him. right VW for me and got me a great deal on some other cars. I will surely come back just because of him. More
These people are awful. I have tried to work with them for 1 &. 1/2 years. They know nothing. They dont know if it is a warranty item or not. They tell you that you hsve a service agreement And after for 1 &. 1/2 years. They know nothing. They dont know if it is a warranty item or not. They tell you that you hsve a service agreement And after they started work on the car the inform you that you dont. $75.00 for a simple oil change is just stupid to pay. I am going to trade my volkswagen CC just to never have to go back there Again. Everytime I go they make me crazy. O my car always reeks of cigarette smoke. More
Bought a new VW and the poor customer service started as soon as I signed the paperwork. The car was taken to be "detailed" while the paperwork was being signed. The next day I found the first aid kit in t soon as I signed the paperwork. The car was taken to be "detailed" while the paperwork was being signed. The next day I found the first aid kit in the hatchback opened and used with the bandaid trash laying in plain sight. No detail, left trash and opened and used supplies from the overpriced kit that I bought. Apparently the extra key and the owners manual was missing and I was promised it would be ordered the next day (Feb 2nd) and I would get a call when it came in in a couple of weeks. I did get a call on Feb. 15th but it was to tell me the key and book had just be ordered that day (2 weeks after promised). I got a call the begining of March telling me my key was in and I could pick it up. I went in to pick up the key and I assumed the book also. When I got to the parts department I was told that they had the key but it wouldn't be ready that day. Although I was confused since they called me to pick it up I just told them I would come in another day when it was ready. I then asked about the manual and after waiting about 30 minutes while they looked for it I was told it was never ordered and they would order it then. I actually thanked them I told him I would pick up the key when the manual came in. I received another message around mid March telling me once again that the key was ready. Again I assumed that the manual was in with the key. I went again to the parts desk where I waited for over 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. I spoke with the same gentleman I had previously spoken with who told me he would order the book that day. The manuel was not in and once again after searching he told me he had never been ordered. When I told him that he was the one who told me it would be ordered weeks before he denied it but promised it would be ordered that day. At this point I was getting very frustrated and I asked him just to give me the key and I would come back once a manual had been ordered. He then asked me if I had an appointment. He had not told me the first time I came in I had to make an appointment to program (he just said it would not be ready that day) the key to the car and neither had the two people would called me to tell me that the key was ready. At that point I just left. I did receive a call from him later that day saying that he had ordered the manual and it should be in in a couple weeks (heard that before). I called today which is April 10th to see if the manual had arrived. This time I spoke with a woman and she told me it was not in yet and she could not find if it had been ordered or not. I asked her to find out and get back with me. She just called to tell me that it had been ordered on April 8th. April 8th would be nearly 3 weeks from the last time I was told it was ordered. Someone is lying to me I have a feeling I'm still being lied to. I attempted to contact someone in management but got the phone run around and was transferred to multiple people but no one who could do anything . At this point I've had the car for nearly two and a half months and manual has been ordered four times but some how I still do not have it. More
