Showed up to look at the Pilots. We were unsure of what 3 row SUV we wanted to go with, and even though I don't like the looks of the Pilot we showed up to test drive it to see if that could win us over. 3 row SUV we wanted to go with, and even though I don't like the looks of the Pilot we showed up to test drive it to see if that could win us over. We walked up and down the row looking at Pilots, with no other customers to be seen, waiting for a salesman to greet us. No one ever showed. We parked right in front of the window and know at least 2 of the salesmen sitting at some desks inside saw us outside(we waved bye when we left). Test drive might have swayed us, but we'll never know. Now we've decided to wait for the 2014 Highlander. Good job guys. More

Having known Mike since our school years I knew him to be a kind, patient, and extremely personable man. Kindness in itself is sometimes sorely missing in this world of ours. I lived out of state for a number of years, having returned to Bloomington (IL) in 2011; finding myself needing a better car, Mike was my first thought, and my first choice. Mike made my purchase of a Honda CR-Z Hybrid THE best buying experience of my life, after less than stellar 'help' from other salesmen in years past. I loved the car, but due to other reasons, I recently needed a larger vehicle but a larger Honda was not in my budget. I located a Chevy Impala on the Lindsay website, contacted Mike, and in less than a week I had traded vehicles. As I live many miles from the dealership, Mike made the extra effort to bring the Impala TO me for a test drive. A salesperson has never done that before, and it just reinforced the reason I went to Mike in the first place. A small service issue arose a few days after I purchased the Chevy and Mike personally drove it to the dealership, leaving a very nice car for my use that day. Mike returned my car that evening, the issue was fixed and I was not charged for it. Mike personifies SERVICE and it is my pleasure not only to state he is the best auto salesman I've ever known, but to call him my friend. I know I can trust Mike implicitly. On February 16, my husband and I walked into Bob Lindsay Honda in Peoria, Illinois, with the intention of test-driving and then possibly purchasing a CR-V. We were assisted by a salesperson who introduced Honda in Peoria, Illinois, with the intention of test-driving and then possibly purchasing a CR-V. We were assisted by a salesperson who introduced himself as Mike, and he was very pleasant until we got to the negotiation. We had given him a price that was quoted to us by Napleton Honda in Loves Park based on the Costco auto program discount. We were hoping that Bob Lindsay could match it, so we could save ourselves a four-hour drive. He offered us a price that was $350 higher, and we said we would still prefer to make the drive for that amount of money. Immediately, his tone changed. He became upset enough that I started to feel very uncomfortable. He accusingly insisted that we were unclear about our expectations, and to prevent any further “misunderstandings,” he attempted to push us into signing a hand-drawn signature line to prove our commitment to a lower price. We refused to sign something so vague, and he continued to bully us into signing. He finally gave in and went back to his manager. We felt that his aggression was uncalled for, considering the fact that we had already communicated to him that we had the mindset to buy a car if they could match the Costco price. We decided to leave and just make our purchase in Loves Park where we already knew we would be dealing with a courteous salesperson. About thirty minutes later, the manager called to ask us why we had left. We attempted to explain the situation to him, through his rude interruptions, and he was very nonchalant despite the fact that we were clearly still upset. He even went to far as to deviate from the problem at hand and ask us about the Costco program because he was contemplating using it for his location. I felt as though he did not even care that we had just made the decision take our business two hours away based on our treatment by one of his salespeople. Then, rather make any attempt at earning back our respect, he apologized for “the fact that we would not return based on our experience with one single person.” I was absolutely floored that a manager of a car dealership did not comprehend the importance of consumer experience or the effect that a single person’s actions can have. Needless to say, we will be spending our day off tomorrow driving up to Rockford for our vehicle, and we will do it happily. I would rather drive that distance and deal with a courteous staff than dump our hard-earned money into the hands of people who do not care to understand their business or the people they are supposedly serving. I know that many people have had very pleasant experiences at this location, and I would normally just say to make sure you do not deal with Mike... but the fact that the manager was just as uncaring pushes me to urge you to avoid this dealership.
