The Traverse was a birthday present for my wife and Bill Baresch went all out to get the perfect vehicle for her. He even had a bow and a birthday wish on the car for her. It was also a surprise and she had no idea until we pulled into the dealer and got out of the car. The service was great, exactly what was promissed and at a fair price with no games. Very good experience. More
Let’s try this again, back on 9/7/13 I had written a review of our experience w/ Bill Kay Chevy but it must have been a bit too derisive to be included on the website, I thought it was objective, but th review of our experience w/ Bill Kay Chevy but it must have been a bit too derisive to be included on the website, I thought it was objective, but this time I’ll try to tone it down. First the facts…on 8/30/13 my wife took our ten month old 2012 Suburban into Bill Kay Chevy for a simple oil change and tire rotation. The job was completed on 8/30 and she drove the vehicle home. The cost for the service was $62.71 which seemed fair. Bill Kay is the closest dealer to our home and the most convenient for us to use for servicing the Suburban. The 2012 is our fourth Suburban and each time we have purchased a new Suburban (1999, 2003, 2008 & 2012) I visited Bill Kay to try and make the purchase from their inventory (they are only 5min away from our home), but each time we could not come to terms. On average, for the four purchases, Bill Kay wanted ~$700 more than what we ended up purchasing the identical vehicle for from a completing dealership. About a week after the 8/30 service visit, early evening on Sat, 9/7/13 I noticed that our garage floor was just covered in oil. I checked the Suburban oil level and it was down over 2qts, this was particularly alarming as the vehicle is only 10months old and the oil change had just occurred week prior. Speaking from years of experience changing my own oil, I immediately knew that the leak was either from an incorrectly secured plug, or the service tech tightening the filter too much to the point of breaking the seal. I filled the Suburban with oil up to the proper level and drove it over to Bill Kay. Needless to say I was less that happy that the Bill Kay service department had botched a simple oil change, so my mood was not the best. Since it was late on Saturday night, I was aware that the service department would be closed, but I figured that I could drop of the vehicle and then take a courtesy vehicle home. My expectation of this outcome was instantly shattered by the Sales Manager that I spoke with; I believe his name was Chris Baumann. I requested that I be able to leave the Suburban so that it could be looked at when service opened on Monday and I requested a courtesy vehicle so that my wife would not be inconvenienced and without a vehicle for the weekend due to an error made by their service tech; I did not think this was an unusual or unreasonable request as our vehicle was only 10 months old, under warranty and recently serviced by Bill Kay. My expectation was further reinforced by an experience I just had a month prior. While on my morning commute to work in Oak Brook, several warning lights came on in my car (2010 vehicle still under warranty, but different manufacturer). I detoured over to the dealer in Westmont who took the car in to service and let me drive off to work in a courtesy car. The Bill Kay sales manager was fine with me leaving my vehicle, but he did not want to give me a courtesy car. He inquired if I had bought the Suburban from Bill Kay and I let him know that I had given Bill Kay the opportunity to sell me a new Suburban four times in the past 13 years, but each time we could not come to an agreement. At that point I was not sure that my failure to purchase from Bill Kay was the primary reason from his refusal to let me have a courtesy vehicle, or it was just their policy (would have been nice to clarify), but the sales manager made it clear we would have to be inconvenienced and without a car for the weekend. He did offer to get me a ride home. I did not think this was a reasonable response considering the circumstances and we agreed to disagree. On Monday, 9/9 my wife brought the vehicle in to Bill Kay and they discovered that the filter was the issue. They replaced it free of charge and gave her a coupon for a free future oil change, we’d have preferred a refund from the previous service so we never have to go back there again. More

I originally visited this dealership to get an idea of how much I would qualify for and afford to spend on a car. I had a family/ preferred rate (I believe that’s what it’s called) through a GM employee. how much I would qualify for and afford to spend on a car. I had a family/ preferred rate (I believe that’s what it’s called) through a GM employee. I went and asked for Mr. Kay, but was told I can work with Quan Bodie instead. I was initially thrown off by the extra familiar demeanor he had with me. I wanted the conversation about buying a car to be very professional and stay focused on the facts, as I believe investing in big purchases as this deserve as much. Although I explained to Mr. Bodie the reason for my visit, he insisted that I had to buy the car that day and that I would have problems if i decided to shop around with other dealerships. All of this before my credit report and loan approval was initiated. Also, during my conversation with Mr. Bodie, he explained that if I received approval for an auto loan and decided not to purchase the car right away that it would reflect negatively on me and the discount (preferred rate) may possibly be taken back or rejected at a later time. I know that it is the salesman's job to apply some pressure to gain a sale, but this was a bit much. As a result, I called the person that referred me to get clarity and found this information to be untrue. In conclusion, I left with a new car and am very pleased with my purchase. I did not get exactly what I want but after an email and a couple of phone calls the situation was rectified. Mr. Bodie helped me get familiar with my car and also assisted me with additional information about the car cost and figures. I appreciate Chris Baumann for making me feel more comfortable with the sales process and having the patience to answer the millions of questions I had. There was also a guy in the closing area that explained all the paperwork to me and answered more of my questions and I was even lucky enough to get a hug from Mr. Kay. Quan Bodie, along with the fore mentioned staff exemplified how much they value customers. They all made sure I left happy! More
