This is the email I received before this consumer decided to go to every ratings website and post the same letter. Subject: My Apologies Jim, Dont know if you were at work today. Let me say this: If I had done what your service department advised me to do in the first place, I would have admitted that they were correct. The sound my engine makes is also made by others on your lot. Chris let me crank one up, and there it was. It isnt a dealer thing. I think that all of us were initially in defensive mode today. I think our main problem was that we found it impossible to believe that the clicking sound was typical of the engine, especially since we had the 2.4L in our 2008 Patriot and it was fine. Naturally, the car doesnt see anything wrong. Therefore the service department's hands are tied. Therefore Chris' hands are tied. Therefore, Chrysler's hands are tied, except I bet Chrysler is aware of the sound. I even poured over the internet looking for references to the sound. You know what Jeep enthusiasts told me? "They just do that, get used to it". "Open your window and turn up the radio. You wont hear it". I do think that some day, if there are enough concerns expressed, Chrysler may have to rethink their lack of attention to this. Miriam and I were even prepared for and headed to the Honda dealer to trade out of the car today. After cranking one on your lot and hearing the sound, however, I just ate lunch and went home. Bottom line is that I understand. I dont like it, but I understand. I would therefore like to express my sincere thanks and apologies to you, Chris, and the service department for our actions resulting from our being in panic mode. Regards, George Bednar
