I was told by Subaru that, because of the wireless provider they chose to provide the Starlink system was discontinuing its 3G service (and therefore my Starlink, which I paid over $160 for a year sub provider they chose to provide the Starlink system was discontinuing its 3G service (and therefore my Starlink, which I paid over $160 for a year subscription, would go dead), I had to make a very inconvenient trip to the dealer. So, ok, I made an appointment for first thing in the morning to not blow up my entire day. I get to the dealer to discover that (1) the software upgrade takes 2 hours (I could completely reload my MacBook in less time), (2) they only have one computer that is compatible at the dealer, and (3) there were two guys left over from the day before that they felt compelled to finish, without explaining why they didn't finish them the day before. Net net--my 7am appointment (which even with a two-hour upload would have gotten me done by 9am) now was not going to start until noontime, and I would not be done until 2pm. Goodbye day? I had to argue/persuade the service people that since (1) I was present, and these other owners were not, (2) they clearly expected to return to the dealership when the work was done, which the dealer could inform them as to the time, and (3) I had explicitly requested the very-first-thing-in-the-morning appointment to avoid just this problem, that they easily could start on my car and finish their own left-over work from the day before after I left. No explanation as to why a Subaru dealership would act like this, nor have only one computer to accomplish an upgrade they were forcing on owners. More
Had a great experience at Bay Ridge Subaru and have already recommend to my friends. Friendly and knowledgable staff and a nice waiting room made the experience much better than other NYC-area dealersh already recommend to my friends. When I urgently needed a car inspection I called Bay Ridge Subaru and received an appointment for the next day. I was greeted by the great professionals, the job was done on time. Terrific service though a bit long --I was there for the Starlink update which takes about 3 hours, plus a few other timely maintenance things.
