It was quite a nasty experience trying to buy a used car from Basil. I had to go there 3-4 times for a Camry, and at each visit they would increase the price they offered me previous time. It was unbelievab from Basil. I had to go there 3-4 times for a Camry, and at each visit they would increase the price they offered me previous time. It was unbelievable. The sales reps say they act as mere messengers for the boss, and it is very hard to get directly to the boss. When I finally got to talk with the decision-maker and told him what the sales reps had offered me previously, his answer was "they were trying to get a price from you"!! It was a complete frustration and I just turned away even though I really wanted to buy the car. If only they had been nicer and more upfront about the price I would have bought the car. They showed absolutely no care or concern for the customer. I just felt sorry for such a great car like Toyota to be sold at a place like Basil. (The only positive note on this page looks so much like written by an employee!) More
I purchased a used car from Basil a couple years ago. It took so long for them to get to a price that we could both agree on, that I almost didn't even want the car anymore. So we agreed on a price and sche took so long for them to get to a price that we could both agree on, that I almost didn't even want the car anymore. So we agreed on a price and scheduled a delivery date. Unfortunately on my delivery date I got a horrible stomach bug. I couldn't possibly get up there, so I called and rescheduled it for the next day (which was a Saturday). With it being a Saturday I had my 4 year old son home with me and my husband was out of town for work so I had to take him with me. I still did not feel well, but I didn't want to hold up the deal any longer, it was already going on two weeks of negotiating. So I called ahead to make sure that I would be able to get in and get everything done quickly so I could get home. My salesman had gone on vacation, which I knew, so they said someone else would help me. I arrived on time only to wait for an hour and a half in the waiting room while they were assisting walk in customers. I was given Jack to help me finish my deal. My son was good for the first half hour, but then he started getting antsy and irritated just like I was. So you can imagine that after an hour and a half I was pretty mad. I almost walked out! So when we finally got into the finance office to sign the papers and I had to then listen to them try to sell me everything under the sun and go through all the different service plans that they offer, for an additional charge of course. I finally got everything signed and went out to get my keys and get everything switched over from my old car to my new one. Jack was so rude and impatient, I just wanted to ask for someone else, but I stuck it out. (Remember that I still felt horrible, so add that to my frustration) When I gave him the keys to my old car I told him that the floormats were in the trunk because I had never used them (I bought the car brand new and put the original mats in the trunk and used heavy duty rubber ones to protect the floor from the wet and salt in the winter time.) but before I could finish my sentence telling him that I used the rubber ones all the time, he said "great, so the carpet is ruined then!" in a nasty sarcastic way. I was so infuriated that I just got in my new car and left. I was so angry it took all the joy out of getting a new car. More
I have never been treated so well at a car dealership. I first contacted Basil by e-mail and was very impressed with the dicount offered to me. I then took a ride to the dealer and was introduced to the e-mail agent and then to a very agreeable and polite salesman who was eager to please. As we spoke I was offered a terrific deal that another dealer told me was too cheap and could not be done. The people at Basils gave me a more than a pleasing deal and welcomed me into their family which is just how I felt all through this process. They found me the exact vehicle I wanted and had it for me in record time.I then had an extra accessory added to it and it was done quickly, very reasonably and with a very high quality of workmanship. My whole family drives Toyota's and as far a I am concerned we will never change dealerships from Basils. Mike Basil who owns the dealership also told me to contact him if I have any problems at all and he is very accessible to the customers. This was truely avery pleasurable experience that I won't soon forget and I have already sent a co-worker to see them and he bought a vehicle from Basil that night. More
I cannot underscore enough the importance of staying away from this dealership. They sold me a piece of S^%t car, which they ended up buying back (still leaving me out of taxes and tag fees for my trouble) t from this dealership. They sold me a piece of S^%t car, which they ended up buying back (still leaving me out of taxes and tag fees for my trouble) they failed to disclose some major issues with the vehicle...MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON THE DAY AFTER I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND STAYED ON! From top to bottom, Basil Toyota has been very unpleasant to deal with. More

I bought a camery 2005 LE and paid $500 to get it Toyota certified plus $1500 for extra coverage the car has 45,000 miles. I found an issue with the car alignment so took it to the dealer (Basil Toyota 6179 S Transit Rd Lockport, NY 14094) while it was in bumper to bumper warranty AND THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING. Now I have lots of problem with my $17,500 paid cash car. (changing the wheels from my own pocket is ONE of them). More
Car was not ready for delivery (missing spare key, spare fob, owner's manual). Not all paperwork provided. Took over an hour to be received even with appointment because salesman bumped another client ahea fob, owner's manual). Not all paperwork provided. Took over an hour to be received even with appointment because salesman bumped another client ahead in line. Car had summer tires in mid-winter and they didn't give a warning (quite a surprise when car lost control). I am all in favor of capitalism and a dealership trying to make the best deal possible, but I discourage anyone from buying from a dealership that places profit ahead of your safety. "Buyer beware" takes on a whole new meaning when dealing with Basil: Beware - your safety means nothing. I paid extra to have the car certified which means nothing since I will have little opportunity to drive the car before 3 month warranty expires. More
