Car was fully detailed Just bought a 2007 Acura SUV from Basic Auto. Every person in the office was warm and engaging. We negotiated a fair price. Car was fully detailed and beautiful when I picked it up. Promptly addressed two issues I pointed when I first drove the car. Will go there again. More
Can't recommend someone who isn't honest and upfront Have now bought 2 cars here. This would have been a glowing rating but during the purchase process for the 2.d car there was a snag with the financing Have now bought 2 cars here. This would have been a glowing rating but during the purchase process for the 2.d car there was a snag with the financing over the price. In order to fix it we were told "we are just going to lower the cost of the car." What really happened was they just canceled our service contract. This contract was one of the reasons I chose the vehicle and was ok with paying a little more. I cannot honestly write a positive review for someone who would take out part of the sale agreement and not mention it to their customer at all. A lie of omission is still a lie. More

The 2nd time the place was under new management and it was as though nothing just change. The new manager was super helpful. The salesman was a very nice guy. And the Steve the finance manager is always on top of his job. I feel they gave me an even better deal than I got the first time. I would recommend this place 100%. More

He Went to Basic to look at a Corvette. The deal I negotiated was a good deal. Dealt with Eugene, the manager of the West Broad St. sore in Richmond. He let us take the car over the weekend to test drive & have it checked out. The car was out of gas so he got a salesman to go get a gas can filled. He then told us to put gas in it & he would reimburse us on Monday when we brought the car back. We drove to Glen Allen to see some friends and then we were going to go to dinner. When we left the car would not start. I called Eugene & he told me me his towing company couldn't tow & I had to arrange the tow & he would reimburse me. I asked him who is towing company was & I called them & they came & towed the '04 Corvette & they took us with them to pick up our car. When it came time to reimburse us for the gas he said he would mail the check. I did not trust him after that as he lied about the tow truck. Since we had such a horrible experience & ruined our dinner plans for Saturday night Eugene agreed that the dealership would treat us to dinner. Another lie. The carpets in the Corvette were wet & I think the car may have been in an accident. I finally was reimbursed for the gas but had to drive to Ashland, Basic's home office. Eugene yelled & screamed at me on the phone Monday when I asked about the gas reimbursement. A rude, crude nasty man. He should not be a sales manager. Horrible car buying experience. Zero star rating!!! Several weeks later Corvette still there. Something wrong with it & them. Do not buy a car at Basic Auto Sales!!!! Stephen S. More

Our salesman was nice, very helpful and worked to get the exact car I wanted. Now on to day 2 where we get a phone call stating there may be an issue with the loan. This is Wednesday. We were told that we would receive a phone call by the end of the day Friday, Monday and then Tuesday on whether we get to keep the car or not. We are now on day 8 and have received no phone calls that were promised and we still have no idea whether we have to return the car or not. And to make matters worse, the wonderful salesman that we encountered when we bought the car is now rude with us and very short as he tries to get off the phone with us. I am disappointed of the stress that this dealership has put us through and at this point, I hope the loan does not go through and we can just get our money back. At least the finance department has been nice on the phone but I do wish they would stop saying they will call us back and then they don't. We will probably get our tags on the car before we find out if the loan is approved or not. More

The sales person provided very good customer service while not being pushy and seemed to care about what our needs were more than simply selling us a car. I originally had planned to buy a Suburban but they showed me an Expedition EL with nice options at a great price. Since then, they have also serviced both of my vehicles and continually provide high customer service at a good price. More
Buyer Beware - Cliche of a Used Car Dealer I am writing to amend my review of this dealership previously written on October 26, 2015. As mentioned, my family came in to purchase an advertised C I am writing to amend my review of this dealership previously written on October 26, 2015. As mentioned, my family came in to purchase an advertised Chrysler van that was ultimately replaced with a different vehicle, which we purchased. through serendipitous events the rear lift-gate came to be dented. When i brought the car to a body shop i was advised that half the lift-gate was putty having been repaired from a major accident. Furthermore, that there had been extensive cover up body work to the rear driver side of the vehicle. The car fax showed no accidents, but a second body shop confirmed the amount of repair due to damage. When i brought this to the attention of Basic Auto and insisted that they repair the lift-gate to its original structural integrity - AS A MATTER of safety for me and my family, they explained that they sold it based on the car fax and it was my problem. I could pay them to fix it but that was the extent of it. Furthermore, and incredulously, they told me that they also were misled by the car fax report and therefore they are as much a victim as i was. Of course this did not prevent them from charging me the full mark up at the point of sale and refusing any follow up. I will say that Joe Duval, the sales person, did step up and try to intercede on my behalf with management/service but his efforts were as fruitless. So my warning to all potential clients, be wary of this dealership. What they offer in selection is offset by their follow through and integrity to stand behind the safety of their product. Any random person can post a listing on Craigslist and claim that they stand behind the car fax as if it is some mystical shield that protects them from having to inspect the vehicles they sell. One would have hoped and expected a dealership with a service department to inspect their vehicles better and stand behind what they sell and not just a piece of paper. More
