Great experience. Negotiations took a while, but we ended up upgrading the car, and they got the bank to close the gap on the financing. I had marginal credit and they got me a great rate on a brand new Impr up upgrading the car, and they got the bank to close the gap on the financing. My salesman was very pleasant to interact with. I do not like to be rushed or pressured in things. Jerry made me feel comfortable and at ease. He was knowledgeable about the product and was able to answer like to be rushed or pressured in things. Jerry made me feel comfortable and at ease. He was knowledgeable about the product and was able to answer all my questions. I was very happy how I was given a tour of the service area, and a detailed orientation to the controls of the car prior to leaving with my new car. I certainly would give Jerry's card to any friends who are interested in a car purchase. I also dealt with the business manager for my loan and paperwork. I met with her the Saturday before car pickup for loan paperwork. I was presented with extended warranty information at that time and was told i needed to make a decision about that at that meeting. I was not able to make a decision- I had just come from a long stretch of work days, was totally exhausted and was not going to make a large decision like that in an exhausted state. SUGGESTED FIX- have the extended warranty information presented prior to the "paperwork" meeting so the customer can bring it home and make a decision on it prior. More
Purchased a new Subaru Outback with Jerry Cohen. Jerry was great to deal with. Incredible knowledge about the vehicle, he was able to answer all questions. Jerry was fair to deal with on the price, i had was great to deal with. Incredible knowledge about the vehicle, he was able to answer all questions. Jerry was fair to deal with on the price, i had a quote from an on-line service and he matched the price. On delivery day, he came into the dealership on his day off to be there for delivery. He went through everything on the vehicle - I have hardly had to read the manual. Post sale service has been excellent one small part needed replacing and he got right on it. I would strongly recommend Jerry at Balise. I personally hate car buying but Jerry made the process easy. Nice job! More
My wife and I leased a Subara Impreza Outback Sport from Balise. We were very impressed with Jerry Cohen's forthright approach to educating us about Subarus and all of our possible options in terms of cars Balise. We were very impressed with Jerry Cohen's forthright approach to educating us about Subarus and all of our possible options in terms of cars and financing. With his help we were able to get our car without any stress or hassle. We have been appreciative of his follow-up with regard to helping us through the insurance and the out of state registration process. The one negative of our experience was that our car did have a minor bumper underguard defect that has required us to have it worked on immediately following our purchase. More

I worked with Jerry Cohen over several weeks as I looked for a used Subaru that fit my requirements. He was always prompt in responding to my calls, and met me for my test drives. The cars he offered were a for a used Subaru that fit my requirements. He was always prompt in responding to my calls, and met me for my test drives. The cars he offered were always in line with what I wanted. The prices were at the bottom end of the pricing of other similar vehicles as advertised by dealers in this general area. This meant there was no long drawn out haggling over price. More
My husband, Sean and I had a wonderful experience with Balize and in particular, Jerry. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding the Subaru Legacy we purchased and very accomodating. I have called him s Balize and in particular, Jerry. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding the Subaru Legacy we purchased and very accomodating. I have called him several times since purchasing the car and he's had no problem answering any questions I've had. This complaint is with the dealership's business practices. My daughter visited Balise Subaru Aug 21 and found a car she was interested after the salesperson, Josh, showed her a similar car and said practices. My daughter visited Balise Subaru Aug 21 and found a car she was interested after the salesperson, Josh, showed her a similar car and said someone who worked at the dealership had just traded one in like it. She was told she'd be called as soon as it was out of service. Interim calls found it still in service. I came in on Aug 26 to ask if I could see the car and was told it was still in service but had a deposit on it, so was no longer available. We were disappointed, but felt we had learned a lesson...if you want a car, put a deposit on it immediately. Josh showed me another Subaru in the same color as the previous car that he thought my daughter would like, and I agreed. He said he's send her the link that afternoon, which he did, and she loved it. I had told Josh I thought my daughter would like it, and to be sure nothing happened to this car, like last time, and to call me if there was any problem with holding it. I called the mext morning, Aug 27, and put a $500 deposit on the car. Josh wasn't in, but the woman said she was in charge and it was fine. I asked, and was told, that I didn't have to come in to sign any papers, that the deposit would hold it for her. They knew she would not come in for 1 1/2 weeks because she had just started college, but they agreed to hold it until she could see it in person and test drive it before filling out purchase papers. My daughter came home Sept 4 and called Balise. Josh told us to come in at 3 p.m. We came in at 3 and Josh was busy and handed us off to another saleperson, who proceded to give us the news that "her" car, which she had obsessed over for the past week, was not there because the owner of Balise, had come and picked up the car for his nephew who wanted it, and drove it back to Springfield. We were both incredulous and shocked. I spoke with Justin Overdeep, the Subaru manager, who verified that this is what happened, despite the owner knowing there was a deposit on the car. Justin tried to be helpful, but my daughter was not happy with other alternatives presented. We got our deposit back and there were no financial damages, but I think any dealer that treats his customers this way should be sanctioned and avoided. I did write letters to the owner, but I don't know if he ever saw them. We never got an apology from him. More
My wife and I were looking to trade in a car with significant equity towards a new Subaru. We had specific requirements in our vehicle and were looking at both the Outback and the Forester. We significant equity towards a new Subaru. We had specific requirements in our vehicle and were looking at both the Outback and the Forester. We originally stopped by the dealer to see a Forester that met our specifications as advertised on the website. Of course, once we arrived it had been "sold." We spoke with a young man, "Xavier", about a car meeting our specifications. For some reason, this also required our licenses and him knowing a significant amount of personal preferences to enter into the computer. We had agreed to talk with him later and schedule a test drive. Within a week we returned according to schedule to test drive an Outback and a Forester. While the Outback met our specifications, the Forester, understandably, did not. We went on a prolonged test drive, of which Xavier drove nearly 50% of, and made out qualitative assessment of both. My wife and I agreed that the Forester would meet our preferences best, and decided to move forward with purchasing one. The entire time, I had made it known to Xavier that we were in no particular hurry and could wait for a car to be brought into inventory that met our specifications. Xavier and his sales manager, the hackneyed "man behind the curtain" met to find us a car. Unfortunately, they also had a payoff document that my wife had brought that had our monthly payment. They used this to their advantage, and came back with a proposal. The plan was to swap vehicles with another dealer to meet our needs. To do this, we left them with a $500 deposit in the form of a check. The next day they were to contact the other dealer and make arrangements. As expected, they finally called us two days later with no car, and options. Also at this time, a new player, "Sheila" was in contact with us. We decided that we would continue to wait, and wanted our check returned. At this point we had found out it had been cashed. Yes, a deposit check for a non-existent deal based on conditions was cashed. However, Xavier wanted to explore options, and insisted that no Foresters matching our specification were coming in within the next two months. However, Sheila was able to find a unit matching our specifications coming in within the next six weeks. Also at the time Xavier insisted no other units existed in the New England area that met our requirements. However, with some casual searching, my wife found a unit meeting all specs (including color, which was a negotiable) at Planet Subaru. Additionally, Balise (using that information about our monthly payment) was $70 higher PER MONTH than Planet. Somehow, they had hidden $4200 dollars or so in their deal. Since I did not meet with the F&I person, I never had the chance to find this discrepancy. We are still receiving calls from Xavier trying to make a deal. Xavier will have no deal, and I don't think that he will ultimately learn from this. Furthermore, the Sales Manager over him has him doing the same tricks that car salesmen used 30 years ago, including keeping us in the dealer for an inordinate amount of time. All told, about 6 hours of our time was wasted with no deal being struck. I can only hope that, given the availability of information and ability to price cars online, that Balise abandons these tactics for a more modern sales approach. More
