Hello. In February of this year, I bought a 2023 Ford Maverick from Balise Ford in Hyannis. I did have a good experience buying the truck although there cou In February of this year, I bought a 2023 Ford Maverick from Balise Ford in Hyannis. I did have a good experience buying the truck although there could have been a bit more explanation of the various aspects of the purchase agreement. But all in all, I was happy with the experience. However, I was told by two employees that I was entitled to 2 free oil changes. I went there today for the first oil change. It was quite time consuming. My usual garage does an oil change in about 15 minutes, this took an hour and a half. But they did warn me in advance, so that’s fair I guess. Thing that did bother me was after they did the oil change, I found out it was not free. It cost me $90! They said it was because technically my truck was used - it was a loaner. It had 6000 miles on it when I bought it (I knew they said it was ‘used’.) However, they never told me it was a loaner. I probably would have still bought it but I would have liked to know that. And I didn’t know I wouldn’t get the free oil changes because of that. I did hand them $23,000 in cash and financed the rest when I bought it. In other words, I handed them a lot of money. Would it have killed them to give me the free oil change, especially after their employees promised me? Anyway, I guess misunderstandings happen but I would advise other customers to double check if they are offered something for ‘free’. By the way, the guy who handled my transaction today did well in explaining why it was not free, but nothing was done to try to rectify the situation. That’s why I said the communication was poor.
