I picked up a nail in the sidewall of one of my tires, which could not be repaired. The tire was an exoctic tire that dealers typically do not stock. I needed to return to KC the next day. A nearby tire dealer told me it would be four days before they could get a replacement tire in. I called BMW of West St. Louis and was connected to Service Advisor Mike Kuhlmann. Mike said that he would check on the options and get back to me shortly. He called back in 10 minutes and said that he would have the tire delivered the next day and would get me on the road to KC that afternoon, which he did. This gentleman could not have been nicer, more efficient, or more professional. Mike is a very inpressive individual. More

My first experience at BMW was getting the water pump replaced a couple weeks ago and he also assisted me. Ty is very professional, friendly, and genuinely cares about the customers he serves. He even remembered that he previously assisted me AND that I have plans to go on a road trip in the upcoming weeks. Ty’s customer service is second to none which is exactly why I went back to get my oil leak assessed. Both Mercedes and Audi have treated me very poorly in the past with regards to customer service so it was very refreshing to work with Ty. He walked me through the costs associated with my repairs and was even able to knock a couple of them down which was a first-time experience for me. I explained all of my concerns about the car and he went the extra mile to obtain quotes on them as well as give me his personal suggestion on how to proceed. There was some confusion, perhaps on my end, regarding the cost for one of the repairs, though, and it was not exciting to pay almost $1,000 more than I originally thought I would. Discussing costs and adding them up can be difficult on the phone when I’m at work. I’m not sure if this is SOP for BMW, but I would have liked an itemized breakdown of the costs pursuant to a work order prior to receiving service. I simply didn’t ask for one. The customer service I receive at BMW of West St. Louis is second to none. Having said that, I will probably take my BMW to another repair shop that specializes in BMWs. There is about a $50 difference in hourly labor costs that just makes more financial sense for me. I called one of those shops and discussed my repairs with them and was quoted around $350 less than what I paid in total with BMW, even with the discounts that Ty provided. The reason I chose to take it to BMW was because it was close to my work and I needed assurance that my car would be completed before a 2,000 mile trip I’m going on shortly. On another note, the woman who helped me pay my repair bill and get my keys back was very pleasant to talk and work with on both occasions I had my car serviced. My apologies that I did not get her name. More
Recall Had a recall on my car, did not know it would take 2 days. Service Dept manager? Jeff helped make it a perfect transition. He gave me a loaner vehicle, let me return it at a time that fit my work schedule and even personally showed me how to operate it since I had never driven a “push button” start. He was beyond polite and top notch in his customer care service. Very pleased and thankful, he needs a promotion! More

I live a hundred miles away and happened to have the day off, so I took them up on it. When I arrived at 4:00 for my scheduled appointment, I found the service dept., which had a couple of closed glass garage doors and no hint of what to do. So I parked the car and walked up to the glass doors and waited, and eventually someone opened one for me. I went in and found the service manager. He then surprised me by telling me that they never work on "I" cars that late in the day, and who in the world would have made me an appointment so late? To his credit, he did round up a mechanic and they did diagnose my problem. I had to ask where the waiting room was. During the 40 minutes or so they worked on the car, I wandered around the showroom and admired the new cars. As a part of my job, I spend a lot of time in car dealerships, and I'm familiar with car salesman. Usually, someone comes out and greets me, offers to answer any questions, invites me to sit in the cars, makes small talk, etc. Not so at BMW of West St. Louis. I was totally ignored for the entire 40 minutes I was there. Not one salesman spoke to me. I guess they must have people lining up in St. Louis to buy their cars and they don't have to bother to work at it. Especially for a guy with a five-year-old BMW that is just out of warranty and in for it's first owner-paid-for service. You'd think I'd be a prime prospect! When they were finished with my car, an assistant came out and basically said "you have a faulty trunk latch we're ordering the part we'll call you when it comes in there's your car the keys are in the cupholder bye." Still holding my nearly empty Styrofoam coffee cup, I got in my car and left. I guess I'll be bringing it back sometime to get the new part installed, and see how they do then. It was totally unlike the treatment my wife got from Mercedes Benz of St. Louis with her first service. (Not where she bought the car, by the way). Although she was a stranger to them, she was treated like absolute royalty, and can hardly wait for her next service appointment! You only get one chance at a first impression... More
