My brand-new BMW X6 was defective at delivery! I have been a loyal BMW customer for over 20 years and have purchased 11 BMW vehicles. This was my second purchase from BMW of Newport, RI despite I have been a loyal BMW customer for over 20 years and have purchased 11 BMW vehicles. This was my second purchase from BMW of Newport, RI despite living much closer to BMW of Shrewsbury, MA because I believed I could trust this dealership. My previous vehicle, an M440i, had just been totaled in a snowstorm, a fact fully known to the sales consultant. Despite this, within one day of taking delivery of a brand-new X6, the battery failed and the vehicle required towing to BMW of Shrewsbury for service. BMW of Shrewsbury, where I service my vehicles, explicitly stated that BMW of Newport should not have sold this vehicle in its delivered condition. I was also informed by a BMW technician that the wheels and tires installed at delivery were dangerous and unsuitable for winter driving. This is a serious safety issue that was never disclosed, despite the sales consultant and dealership’s knowledge of my recent accident and current winter driving conditions. Additionally, I was told that the vehicle had been sitting unused for several months prior to sale and now requires a complete battery replacement. I was initially told this failure was not covered under the BMW warranty, which is unacceptable for a new vehicle! Furthermore, my sales consultant, Lucas Berge, was very deceptive and misrepresented the tire and wheel protection package by implying he included it for free, when in fact it was only offered at cost. When I requested the General Manager’s contact information to address these issues, he refused and avoided providing it. As a result, I wasted multiple hours traveling to Newport to complete this transaction and am now spending additional time addressing a failure that should never have occurred, all while operating my own business. This entire experience reflects unacceptable sales practices, inadequate disclosure, and a lack of accountability. I strongly advise potential buyers to avoid this salesperson and BMW of Newport. BMW Corporate needs to immediately review this dealership’s conduct and sales procedures More
After many years of excellent service on my X5, these guys were my top pick for purchasing a new X5. And these guys did not disappoint. Amazing knowledge, professionalism, and experience. When I had an i guys were my top pick for purchasing a new X5. And these guys did not disappoint. Amazing knowledge, professionalism, and experience. When I had an issue and my sales guy didn't happen to be in, the whole team jumped into action and took care of me. You can just tell when an organization is well managed and well run. More
I brought my 2014 BMW in for service with 90,000 miles — well maintained, no major issues, and it’s always gotten me to work, home, and where I need to go. I’m not a heavy driver; the farthest I usually go well maintained, no major issues, and it’s always gotten me to work, home, and where I need to go. I’m not a heavy driver; the farthest I usually go is 20 minutes. But I drove my car almost an hour to this dealership because I wanted to have it looked over properly. They kept it for three days, then charged me $309 just to diagnose it. When I came back to speak with Matt in service, I was told it would cost $13,500 to fix my car. Yes — thirteen thousand dollars. They claimed I had “excessive leaking” everywhere under the hood — even though I’ve never seen a leak, never had an issue, and the car still drove fine with only a here and there warning light, no alerts, and no signs of anything being wrong. Screen said all systems ok at all times . I keep up with my basic maintenance and care. It was honestly shocking. Then Matt told me I had four dry-rotted tires, even though I had two brand-new tires put on less than a year ago. And here’s the kicker — I have a powertrain warranty, and everything they listed is considered a powertrain issue, but somehow none of it was covered. What are the odds, right? This car has had one owner before me, and I’ve had it for just under three years. It’s been reliable and well taken care of. But after this experience, it really feels like they just saw someone who wasn’t driving a brand-new BMW and treated me like I didn’t matter. Or maybe because I’m a younger female and went in with my mom , Do you guys think it’s funny to be this way toward woman . It’s pretty sad . If the goal was to make your cars look like they fall apart after 90k miles, or to turn away loyal customers, mission accomplished. I didn’t bring my car in expecting it to come back like it just left the factory — I just wanted honest service. Glad you made your $300, Matt. But instead of doing any real work, you sent me straight out the door. Took my car, my money and went to my regular family mechanic who does a wonderful job and it costed me under 3,000$ . More
