BMW of Dallas-Buyer Beware! After more than 25 years of goodwill and trust in the BMW brand, my recent experience with BMW of Dallas has sadly destroyed any desire to own anoth After more than 25 years of goodwill and trust in the BMW brand, my recent experience with BMW of Dallas has sadly destroyed any desire to own another one. I recently traveled from Northwest Arkansas to Dallas specifically to purchase a 2018 BMW X5 diesel with approximately 89k miles. During the purchase process I was also sold an extended warranty, which I reasonably believed at the time to be a BMW-backed warranty. I later learned that it is actually a third-party warranty. On the day of purchase I began the drive home and while still within Dallas city limits, the check engine light came on. I contacted the dealership immediately and was reassured that it was likely just a faulty sensor and that it was safe to continue driving.(At the time, I did not realize the extended drive home voided any return policy.) Over the following three months, the vehicle required over $12,000 in repairs(my dealership here did what they could to reduce the cost of these onerous expenses) and this does not include the towing charges. These repairs have all been denied by the third-party warranty company and I have since learned these problems are very common to this make and year. In an effort to resolve the situation directly with BMW of Dallas, I made thirteen attempts over the course of a month to contact the sales and general managers. After negotiating past their AI phone system, I have left multiple messages as they never seem to answer regardles of time of day or day of week. Unfortunately, I have received no response whatsoever. After traveling from another state to purchase this vehicle, the complete lack of follow-up has been particularly disappointing. Key points for prospective buyers: •Purchased a difficult to find X5 diesel after traveling from Northwest Arkansas. •I was sold an expensive extended warranty that turned out to be third-party and ineffective to address the well known issues for this model and year. •Check engine light appeared almost immediately(25-50miles) after purchase. •Over $12,000 in repairs within 3 months. •13 attempts to contact dealer management with no response. I would have appreciated a response from BMW of Dallas management by now to review this situation and help reach a fair resolution as I prefer to resolve this directly with the dealership before escalating to the next step. As such, I would recommend buyers to proceed with caution and with hazard lights on. More
My service adviser Shawn is awesome; however, I took my car in to get new tires. I used the TPMS daily until I could get new tires.
