I just leased a new 328i from BMW of Alexandria. I worked w/ Paul Blakeman. Paul is a great guy to work with. He sent me weekly status updates on my order to keep me posted on its progress. When it came time w/ Paul Blakeman. Paul is a great guy to work with. He sent me weekly status updates on my order to keep me posted on its progress. When it came time to talk numbers, Paul opens with a very reasonable price. My car's negotiated capital cost was at or around invoice, before incentives and discounts were applied (which brought the cap cost below invoice). When the car arrived, I decided I didn't like it. Paul said that's no problem, and got me behind the wheel of a car that I absolutely love. I thought there was no way I'd be able to walk away from a car that I custom built, but Paul made it seem like it was a non-issue, which was great. My overall experience with him was great, and I look forward to the next BMW I'll be getting from Paul. More

Editing my review, since after purchase of the vehicle, service has gone downhill fast. My wife and I recently visited BMW of Alexandria to purchase a CPO 2009 BMW 335i convertible. We had found the ca service has gone downhill fast. My wife and I recently visited BMW of Alexandria to purchase a CPO 2009 BMW 335i convertible. We had found the car we want at Alexandria's website and were connected with Paul after making an inquiry. Prior to my visit, Paul was great with communicating via email and having things setup so that we we arrived we were able to look at the car and discuss the purchase. The sales process was quick and efficient, which was much appreciated. I love the car, however, since purchasing we have received extremely poor service from multiple facets of this dealership. 1) We scheduled an appointment right after purchasing to have a couple small warranty items repaired and replaced. Both Paul and the GM called me the day prior to go over everything for the service visit and let me know they would have a BMW loaner ready for my wife when we brought the car in. Sounded great. Unfortunately when she arrived the next day, no one in service had any idea of the appointment and there was no loaner available. Finally, after wasting a good deal of her time they managed to find one, which smelled like smoke and had trash left in it. After a few days in the shop it was ready for pickup. We were horrified that when it was brought around to us there was a Pepsi can left in our cupholder. Definitely not mine, and the tech gave my wife attitude when she asked him to remove the trash from the car. Service personnel drink soda in customers' cars? Really? I don't even drink anything beyond water in my car. 2) Paperwork: I'm currently driving with expired temp tags after the 2nd set of temp tags that were given to me just expired. I understand Maryland MVA takes some time, but getting any communication out of this dealership is a pain. I have had numerous calls to the finance department go unreturned. Similarly, my salesperson has promised to check into when the paperwork was submitted and get me new tags, and does not get back to me. Instead, he goes on vacation without checking to make sure the new tags that were to be issued were taken care of before leaving. I have to hound him to get anything done. Its simply ridiculous. I've come to learn from a manager there that there was an issue with the dealership obtaining the title to the vehicle since their check to BMW was lost in the mail? Honestly, I don't know what to believe. I hear a different story from everyone I speak to at the dealership. Bottom line, they are _horrible_ at communication and keeping their customers in the loop. They just don't seem to care after the sale is made. I thought this was a good car buying experience after the initial purchase, but cannot say that after being jerked around after the sale. BMW of Alexandria has not done much to ensure that I'll be back to purchase my next BMW (this will definitely not be my last BMW) from them. I'm hesitant to even get my vehicle serviced at Alexandria. If they can't handle simple paperwork, I'm reluctant to let them work on my vehicle. I would give this dealership a '1' overall, but the price was actually pretty fair, and they were friendly, even in their incompetence, so I guess there's that. Either way, I can't honestly recommend that any of my friends patronize this dealership. More
I found the deal on line and called them. Paul was the person who helped me and the whole purchase experience was so cool. He did his best to earn my trust and the business. This car is my fourth BMW. Each sales experience is top-notch, and this one was no exception. Paul and I scheduled an appointment, and he carefully listened to my requirements and took me out to test top-notch, and this one was no exception. Paul and I scheduled an appointment, and he carefully listened to my requirements and took me out to test drive three different models. One of those models--the 535 xi GT-- I had viewed on line and dismissed because I thought it looked like a station wagon. Paul took a chance and showed me this car, and it looks so much better than the online views show. I came for a second appointment to get a family member's opinion before ordering the car. Paul was so helpful as I made my decision. After we placed the order, he sent me an email every week with the manufacturing and shipping status. On pickup day, everything was smooth. I'm thrilled with my 535 xi GT and will use this dealership for my fifth BMW in a few years. Paul Blakeman is my car guy. More
This Service department is big scam. All you BMW owners if you do take your care over there make sure the service is done. Because they tell you something else and works is done incomplete and they are wai if you do take your care over there make sure the service is done. Because they tell you something else and works is done incomplete and they are waiting for you car to break down so they can make money on it I guess. I rather take my car to Sterlng or Fairfax. More
This dealership understands the importance of great guest service. Before, during, and most importantly AFTER the sale. They are willing to help, knowledgeable, and are very helpful. I will definitely retur service. Before, during, and most importantly AFTER the sale. They are willing to help, knowledgeable, and are very helpful. I will definitely return here over and over! More
I found a Mercedes E320 there for a good price. But I was treated the worst I've ever been treated at a dealership. They have yet to fix the scratches on the bumper that they promised to fix when I purchased treated the worst I've ever been treated at a dealership. They have yet to fix the scratches on the bumper that they promised to fix when I purchased the car - (I have it in writing, I emailed them pictures of the screatches, and no response). I didn't get my license plates and registration until after the temporary tags were expired. They would not return my phone calls, so I had to drive 45 minutes each way in order just to speak with someone about the tags. Also I was told I would be reimbursed for the cost of my Maryland state inspection, and as you guessed it, that did not happen. I'm big on customer service, and its insulting when the manager, Mike Arata (who seems like a very nice guy) didn't even think I was worthy of a return phone call. Also, if you ever need a rental car for any service there, be prepared to wait for an hour. I really wanted my experience to be good here, but all I can say is, I'm embarrassed for the way I was treated there. I would have spent more at another dealer if I'd know the service I would get after the sale. More
The deal I got from them was so awesome. The purchase experience was so cool. The manager came to me and thanked me for purchasing the car there. I bought a used (2009 BMW328xi) car from Paul Blakeman at BMW of Alexandria and couldn't have had a better experience. The first time I went in, he asked if we could get a deal done that night and I told hi BMW of Alexandria and couldn't have had a better experience. The first time I went in, he asked if we could get a deal done that night and I told him if everything worked out perfect we could but that I doubted it. I was trying to trade in a used car and wanted to get the most I could for that. We ended up spending close to three hours and I left with a lot more knowledge but no car. I tried to sell my car on my own and couldn't get what I wanted. I went back to him and asked what he'd give me for my car. He gave me a number and I told him I needed more. He asked how much, I told him and he agreed. I went back in the next weekend and looked at pretty much every 2009 BMW 328i they had. I know he had to have been getting impatient as I just couldn't make up my mind. They had a lot of cars and I must have taken 6 - 8 of them out for test drives. I was there for about 5 hours. I finally settled on one, and we agreed on a price. We started the final paperwork and he told me it was certified pre-owned- after we'd agreed on a price! Now I know that's always a big selling point but it wasn't advertised as such because actually it had been certified about six months ago- so I got an extra two and a half years on the warranty- instead of running out in January, 2013 it runs through January 2015! Then, after he talked to the finance guy, he told me that in addition to it being certified, the car also has free maintenance for the life of the warranty, or through January 2015! I've been at other dealers where they would have tried to jack up the cost as a two year additional warranty would have cost over two grand and the free maintenance even more. Not Paul, though. There was one little hiccup which was as much my fault as his. He could easily have blown me off as the deal was already done and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. But instead he asked what he could do to make it right- as he wanted my experience at BMW of Alexandria to be a great one. He offered me some extras when he really didn't need to do that- just so he was sure I was 100 percent happy with my deal. Mark S. More
