I bought a used 2002 Dodge Durango with 60,752 miles from Autos Direct Online in July of 2013. The vehicle was advertised on Ebay. When I called to ask some details about the condition of the vehicle I from Autos Direct Online in July of 2013. The vehicle was advertised on Ebay. When I called to ask some details about the condition of the vehicle I was assured that all their vehicles were inspected and in good condition. I was also offered a discount off the Ebay buy it now price if I would purchase direct over the phone. I took them up on the offer, bad choice on my part. I gave them my deposit by credit card. Communications to keep things moving after that point took prodding from my end. After arranging my own shipping I did finally receive the vehicle. Upon seeing the vehicle in person and checking it over, here is a list of what was wrong. 1) Rust issues: Undercarriage had been painted black to show better in the online photos. Bottom edges of all doors, especially rears showing rust, online photos strategically did not show bottoms of doors. Rocker panels were actually rusted through with fist size holes on both sides and required repair panels. 2) A/C inoperative: Turned out the condenser and evaporator were bad and needed replacement. The evaporator repair requires removal of the entire dashboard. 3) Misfire on one cylinder with MIL lamp on. Required new plugs and one new ignition coil. 4) Lower ball joints were bad, vehicle failed state inspection. In the end I spent over $ 1,000 in parts for repairs and did all the labor myself. If I had to pay going rates for a shop to repair these issues it would have been several thousand dollars. Estimate for the A/C evaporator alone was $ 1,200.00 ! In the end, I ended up paying over market value for what I expected to be a low miles vehicle in good condition, instead I ended up with a costly rehabilitation project. Obviously their vehicle inspections leave a lot to be desired and I would question their honesty and sales practices. Buyer Beware! More
