My 2017 Subaru Forester had for the second time issues with the battery. The first time that happened the dealer provided a new battery and advised us if we do not use the car for 6 weeks due to overseas with the battery. The first time that happened the dealer provided a new battery and advised us if we do not use the car for 6 weeks due to overseas trips, to disconnect the battery. I went to Europe from July 4-29 and had disconnected the battery cables. However when we connected the cables on our return we still had to call AAA since we could not start the car. They charged the battery and the car was starting and driving fine again. However a little later, I got some problems with the remote keys I could not open the rear gate, I just locked the car but the next morning my keys would not open the car. AAA came again the car was opened but it would not start, AAA charged the battery again and I kept the car running while calling the dealer. They advised me to bring in the car. I explained to the service department the battery problem and the remote key that it does not open the rear gate yet. They immediately assumed it was a dead battery in the remote key. I told them that the battery in the key was replaced recently. The service man said they would take care of the problem and that in the future I would have to start the car every other day to keep the battery in shape. When the technician had worked on the car it appeared that I would need a new battery again (the third one) and was told in addition that I needed a system upgrade that would take care of a better distribution of the battery charge. I initially agreed to have both done but called them back later not do the system upgrade for around $180.- they had done it already but would not charge me for it. I went to pick up the car and told them that we would like to talk to the service manager. So we did and asked then why these batteries have such a short life, was there somewhere in the system a leakage. The only answer we received that if we do not drive the car daily we at least have to start the car every other day. I also own a Subaru outback which never had these issues. The answer from the service manager was that we were comparing apples and oranges (more appropriate would have been lemons). If we were not happy with the service we should take the car to another dealer or Pep Boys. We have always serviced our cars at the Subaru dealer since they have the best Subaru trained technicians. We have owned Subaru cars for over 25 years and never had these battery issues. I just can not believe that Subaru puts a car on the market which you have to start at least every other day to keep the battery “happy”. Customer service and satisfaction was not high on the priority list of the people I dealt with this time. In contrast to other times I had my car serviced at his dealership More
John is the best service advisor. Followed him from Frank Subaru! The work on my car was done quickly. The waiting area is a little outdated but overall good experience! Baker's service facility is highly suspect. Over 6 montgs they ran up a bill $17k in ineffective charges that ended with me abandoning my car. At one point they said they replaced a fuel pump, which they hadn't. That lie nearly resulted in a major accident, when my car died in front of a highway offramp -- not even an apology from them on their error. I highly recommend not buying from a Baker dealership as they're focus is running up a bill and not protecting their customer. More
