Autohaus is family-owned & has served the St. Louis community for 50 years. We have grown to be the largest BMW dealership in Missouri by providing exceptional services at competitive prices. Our reputation for excellence is extremely important to us, as evidenced by winning the DealerRater award for the highest customer satisfaction ratings for any Missouri BMW dealership for the last two years running. We strive to deliver the best customer service possible, but every now & then we make a mistake. When that happens, we admit it & try to make our customer happy. I have reviewed the records from your last service visit to see if any errors were made on our part. You brought some issues to my service manager’s attention & he looked into them. My service manager apologized for leaving some grease on the door panel. That does not meet the quality standard that we expect from our technicians. I would like to add my apology for not meeting your expectations. Regarding honesty, our service advisor recommended that you NOT replace the weather-stripping because it would not stop the leak. Your vehicle is a 2001 Z3 roadster convertible. Our experience tells us the weather-stripping hardens with age & will leak. We also told you the replacement weather-stripping is slightly larger than the original parts so all the weather-stripping would need to be replaced in order to make a difference with the leaking. You did not authorize us to do any diagnostics, but instead picked a couple of pieces that you wanted us to replace & ordered a couple more that you said you would replace. I believe my service advisor was being completely honest when he told you that replacing the weather-stripping you requested would be a waste of money & would not stop the leak. You also questioned the amount of our labor charge. Autohaus, like all ethical repair shops, uses an industry-recognized repair manual to determine the correct amount of time a technician gets paid & a customer gets charged for specific repairs. The manual gives us the hourly charge that a specific repair should take a technician on average. According to this manual the labor charge for the weather-stripping repair you requested was computed correctly. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations & hope you find another repair center that will make you happy.
