Worst experience ever, very shady and rude. Chris was good, a few basic salesman games as expected, but over all very knowedgeable, did a great job selling. My issue came whe finalizi good, a few basic salesman games as expected, but over all very knowedgeable, did a great job selling. My issue came whe finalizing. Price changed during paper signing, had to ask 3 time to even get the new proce. went up by 50% a month. apparently they wait till last minute to do credit check. I understand that the rating can change the rate but should be addressed before finalizing sale stage and my credit rating was not that bad. i had bought a car a few weeks before, same rating and got great service and rate. This one was for my wife. When My wife and I couldnt get the price down to the max price we wanted to spend we told them repeatedly was our limit, we were left waiting for over 30 minutes. Then things turned ugly. We decided that we needed to sleep on it and maybe rework our downpayment, figure out why my wife had no credt history, etc. All of a sudden, no one knew where our keys were from our current car. Luckly we still had the spare key and had NOT signed over the title yet, though was pushed to do so before we got the new rate out of them. Wife went to car and i went back in to get the other key set. Things got worse from there. Caught in the hall by Nick, told he couldnt beleive we were walking away. i tried to explain we were interested but needed to look at our finances, cash down and maybe a lower model to keep in our budget. Nick becam extremely rude, was interupted a lot trying to explain this. At soom point wad told I was rude for wasting their time. At this point, the idea of working with them was over, I asked again for my keys, a little more direct. Nick took them from a guy that walked up then tossed them at me and " have a good Life" and well, at that point had enough, I finally got rude back and left. And with a few choice words, I left. later i did get a few appologies for the deal making me upset. They dont get it. not the deal, was the complete lack of respect and rudeness at the end that did it. We settled on another car for my wife back at Ford. They took care of us, no suprises. Venting here because after a lot of internet searching, this seems quite typical of Gunther VW, in the price change approach. almost all of their great reviews come from their service department, and the bad ones from sales in general. there are quite a few VW dealers in the metro atlanta area and suggest you use them to save any potential aggrevation. Car buying stressful enough as it is. Wish I researched them before that stop. More
Lesson learned! Thinking that Gunther VW was true to their word but in fact they are just like most shady dealerships! Purchased a used vehicle with them that was advertised as having new tires, brakes their word but in fact they are just like most shady dealerships! Purchased a used vehicle with them that was advertised as having new tires, brakes and other options. The new tires was the may need and when I asked before signing the papers my sales person Chris said he would insure we had the new tires as advertised. After following up with him after the purchase he handed me over to the used sales manager Nick Bellefroid who is a piece of work. This guy has no clue what customer service is and when I asked to get the tires he simply said it would cut into their profit on the vehicle since I already received such a great deal! Nick stated it was not their fault and it was a advertised misprint that they sent me home with along with a quote. Since I was not getting anywhere with him I asked for the GM and he informed me I would not be speaking with him. I since then try to reach out to Gunther via e-mail to set up a time to speak and Gunther himself chose not to speak with me. I guess Nick learned his customer service from the boss himself. I did get a good deal on the car but it would have been a great deal if I received what was advertised. Don't rush into a car no matter how bad you or the person you are getting it for want it. If you want good service go next door to Honda Mall of GA where I bought my other used car. They go above and beyond to take care of you! Stay clear from Gunther VW because they are far from being best in Gwinnett! More
I decided to go check out what VW had to offer, even though i had my heart set on a small SUV. I walked in, very neat dealership... old retro VW's everywhere, very clean and tidy, and was greeted by Kim though i had my heart set on a small SUV. I walked in, very neat dealership... old retro VW's everywhere, very clean and tidy, and was greeted by Kim Porter. I right away let her know that I was only looking and was NOT GOING TO PURCHASE ANYTHING for a while, but that completely unphased her... she just happily went right on, telling me about Gunther, and the cars, and gave me 100% of her attention ( she didn't even answer her phone, which I noticed, as this is a pet peeve of mine, when people excuse themselves to chat) ~ hate it! I found the vehicle on the pre-owned lot which I thought I wanted only to find out there was another vehicle I never considered and I LOVED IT EVEN MORE!!!! Kim is very honest, and professional, but also fun and entertaining, with her being so very intuitive, she knew what I wanted before I knew what I wanted. I purchased my new Mazda, and love it... really love it. THANK YOU KIM + Nick !!!!!!! You guys honestly are the BEST! Smile... Smile... Smile...Smile... I am a 20 year old, female college student. I had my check engine light come on not too long ago. Where I go to college is no where near a VW dealership, so I first took my car to Advance to see what w check engine light come on not too long ago. Where I go to college is no where near a VW dealership, so I first took my car to Advance to see what was causing he light to come on. They informed me that my Pressor Sensors in my exhaust were going bad and needed to be replaced. I then took it home to the Gunther VW dealership. I informed them of the code my car was pulling. They then ran their own test and insisted that it was my EGR valve that was bad. So I allowed them to change it; I was assuming they knew what they were doing. Well $700 later, my light was still on. Gunther insisted this time it was my coolant fans. This confused me because you could turn the car on, pop the hood, and my fans WERE clearly running. When confronted about this, the Gunther employees said that it "must have fixed it's self over night". Fed up with Gunther, I took the car to a German Motors Work Shop. They ran a few tests, only to determine that my Pressure Sensor were bad and needed to be replaced. I then again confronted Gunther about this and they refused to refund any of my money or even admit that they could have messed up. At one point, a sales associate even told me that he did not want to speak to me and he would much rather speak to a man, preferably my father. Sadly, this is not the first time they have tried to scam me and my family. I will NEVER by taking my car there again and I suggest that you don't either. More
By far the best VW dealer, maybe even car dealer I've ever worked with. I've purchased over 20 new vehicles in my lifetime and Gunther VW in Buford has been the best buying experience I have ever encoun ever worked with. I've purchased over 20 new vehicles in my lifetime and Gunther VW in Buford has been the best buying experience I have ever encountered. The salesmen are absolute VW enthusiasts. The employee parking lot itself is a showcase of beautiful VW's. Mike is the man. I have now bought 5 VW's from him and I refer everyone to him. My friends and family have all had the same experience with Dan and Andy, nothing but a pleasurable easy buying experience. Even the finance manager Lance is superb. They will not try sliding anything under the table or play any tricks. Buy from Gunther I promise you will have an excellent experience. Do not go to Gossett. I purchased a Golf TDI from Gossett before Gunther opened. It was among one of the worst buying experiences that I have ever had. I plan on giving Gunther more of my business. Their service department is great too. More
First, let me say that I grew up in car dealerships. I know the lingo, the tricks of the trade, etc. I'm 38 years old and have purchased 12 cars, four of which were brand new (and two of those new ones we know the lingo, the tricks of the trade, etc. I'm 38 years old and have purchased 12 cars, four of which were brand new (and two of those new ones were VW Jettas). Suffice to say that "I've been around the car block a few times" and one of the biggest skeptics that I know. I’m an average middle class person that watches every cent that I spend. With that said, please let me tell you about Bo Nunez and the rest of the team at Gunther Volkswagen in Buford, GA. I initiated contact through their website because I was interested in a car that they had listed on their inventory. Mr. Nunez called me the next day and I was immediately impressed by his candor and professionalism. I insisted on working on the deal via phone and Mr. Nunez accommodated me. Over the course of 3 days he was able to put a deal together that I just couldn’t turn down. I drove to the dealership and was immediately welcomed by everyone there. The showroom isn’t “institutionalized” and stark. Believe me, this dealership is unique, from the lighting to the music. It’s like walking into a cafe with museum-quality exhibits. Mr. Nunez introduced me to everyone and then we walked to his office. There was no pressure or tricks. In fact it was almost anti-climatic when I realized that I wouldn’t need the arsenal of carsalesman kryptonite that I’d assembled. It was more like picking up “my” car than the typical negotiations and stalemates that usually accompany these transactions. The people in the Service Department were just as friendly as everyone else. I was made aware that my first service visit had already been scheduled for me, but that I was more than welcome to change the time & date if I’d like. Mr. Nunez then introduced me to my new Jetta, made sure that I was familiar with all of the features, and even connected the stereo’s bluetooth to my iPhone for me. Then he took me to the dreaded Finance Manager (dun-dun-daaaaaa). I walked in with my guard on triple alert. After less than 5 minutes, I relaxed. There was no smoke, mirrors, bait & switch, etc - just old-fashioned honesty. If I hadn’t run my mouth so much, I probably would’ve spent less than an hour there. Trouble is that the people and retro California ambiance make you want to take off your shoes and hang out for a while. Communication since purchasing my Jetta has been superb. I’ve received phone calls and e-mails from Mr. Nunez and other team members checking to make sure that I’m happy and all is well. If you’re in the market for something that Gunther VW might have, you should definitely check them out. I know I’ll be back. More
