Racism at this dealership? Probably... So I have bought many a car in the past 17 years from this dealership and at first it was nothing but good things to say. But in the last Probably... So I have bought many a car in the past 17 years from this dealership and at first it was nothing but good things to say. But in the last 3-4 years I have not been inclined to make my purchase of help other complete their purchases from this Toyota dealer. Today was no exception. I was trying to help my mother in law purchase a used truck, I had arrived first and was greeted by a man named Anthony (no last name as he didn't want to give me a business card apparently). All was well until he met my mother in law and my wife when they arrived. He refused to look at them and almost didn't even bother acknowledging them even though I told him it would be her purchasing a vehicle. His demeanor changed and was very passive aggressive and tried to even verbally downgrade the truck (a 2016 Nissan Frontier). Telling us they have all sorts of problems (I as an expert in this field know most of which he was vastly over exaggerating or lying about entirely). Anthony did not attempt in any way to sell us this truck or make any real effort to work with us on price/financing/info about the truck at all. we were in no way abnormally abrasive to him, we just let him know where we stood as plainly as possible. This was in fact no longer about the truck, and I cannot make this clear enough.. Anthony was being rude and dismissive to my mother in law and it became more and more obvious that it was racially charged. I am white, and my in laws and wife are black. I noticed how uncomfortable he was talking to her and would not stop trying to Man-splain about how finances work. He absolutely did not want to make the sale and honestly mission accomplished, I wouldn't have bought from him anyway. Can you imagine giving a guy like that your hard earned money. All his answers were utter nonsense and dismissive. This is the 3rd time I've had bad luck at this dealership since 2019 and I will now actively tell my friends and family not to buy from this dealership any longer. They rip people off at every turn and are not in the slightest capable of hiring good people who are good at their jobs. More
