Seeing that my 2005 Scion XB with 113500 miles was getting just a bit less comfortable for a 55 year old, and seeing gas going up once again, I decided it was about time to think about a replacement. getting just a bit less comfortable for a 55 year old, and seeing gas going up once again, I decided it was about time to think about a replacement. My criteria was the experience needed to be easy for me - I wasn't going to put up with typical dealer hard sell tactics (I knew this could be done as experienced years ago with my Scion purchase), the price had to be fair for both me (especially me) and the dealer, the car could not have over 20,000 miles, safety had to be highly rated, great milage had to be obtained, a good track record with maintenance of the model was needed, it needed bluetooth for the cell phone, and the car had to be comfortable. I remembered that Costco had a car purchasing program, and decided to try it out. Selecting certain criterial form Costco web page, and wanting to test drive a Prius, Costco informed me that I would be contacted by Power Toyota of Tempe. Within minutes the phone rang - but I couldn't pick up - but a message was left for me by Gus. His message thanked me for inquiring through Costco, and asked that I call him back to make an appointment to come see him and the dealership. I didn't call first, but rather came in unannounced just to see the Prius C that I was reading about. I told the receptionist that I would speak with Gus if he had time, but that I didn't have an appointment. She called for Gus, and when he came out he let me know that he had another appointment in a few minutes but that he would be glad to show me the Prius C's. I was surprised to see that they had about 10 of them in stock, since most of the dealerships didn't have any. He showed me a couple of the models, but I didn't take a test drive - again we were both aware of his upcoming appointment. I then went back to this office area (Internet Sales area), he asked to see the Costco card which he needed a copy of before he could show me Costco prices. This is a deal made between Costco and the dealerships they work with. Once this was done, he was able to show me the price points that they were able to give for the Car models I was looking at. He also logged onto his computer to find the cars that were available and int stock. He took his time and listened to my questions and answered them without trying to push one car above the other. I told him I was not prepared to purchase right then, but would be back that weekend. (This is what car salesman hate to hear, because more often than not the customer doesn't come back). But I meant what I said - and I think he knew it. Two days later I called for an appointment with Gus. Gus was not at the office yet, but evidently he has instructed the dealership to forward calls to his cell phone and I told him I was going to be looking around again that day, and he made an appointment with me at his start time. I arrived, and we spoke some more, and we talked as well about the standard Prius's as well. He had one with 18000 miles, which was always owned by the dealership, and was the third tier up in the series . While the listed price was over my budget, the Costco price made it a bit sweeter, and the Kelly BB price which was much higher helped out some as well. So the plan was to test drive this one, then test drive one of the Prius C's. Gus took time when we first got into the used vehicle. I wanted to be sure my phone worked right with the bluetooth. Gus was very familiar with setting up that feature. He then took the time to explain the how the hybrids work, and and the difference in the shift stick than those in other cars. He had me adjust the steering wheel telescoping and height so that I was comfortable before leaving the dealership. Then we took the car out for the spin. This car was a Certified car, meaning it had all it's features checked by the dealership and extra time and mileage added to the original. This was a positive thing. The car ran well, smooth, and quiet. It was a pleasure to drive. Gus answered questions that I had, but didn't try to add his own sales pitch. I asked about the other display modes for the hybrid functions - but safety first with Gus - he would explain them when we got back to the dealership. He didn't want my eyes diverted from the road. When we got back, we then tried out the Prius-C. Well, it was smaller, it was louder, and it wasn't as much fun to drive. Granted, it less expensive, but the mileage is just slightly lower than the previous car I had driven, and I felt that overall size of the car would just not help me on long trips with luggage. So - I knew I wanted the first car, and Gus and I again talked about price. While the Costco discount was somewhat attractive, and the Certified benefits were and added attraction, I was still not exactly where I wanted to be price wise. Gus said he would take any offer to the sales manager so I made a pitch. I was sure hoping to avoid the usual salesperson go upstairs to talk with someone about football while eating a donut dance, that was so prevalent in years past. Well - that sure did not happen. My offer was countered - with a very reasonable offer, which I took. Then we had to wait for the finance department to get ready. I was really going to pay cash, but it was a holiday weekend, and the ATM wouldn't spit out that kind of money. So, I met with Kyle - a nice guy - not hard sell - but has to offer things anyway. I always hate this part - especially when it seems you have to make up your mind right away. I took nothing at that point, but Kyle was going to leave the file open for a few days so I could think about anything I wanted. A few days later, I did take the extended warranty. But at the price I was going to pay - not the first offer. Kyle was able to use some coupons available for the holiday weekend. I want to say that Gus walked me through every step of the process. There was never any hard sale tactics. Gus did what he said he was going to do and made me feel that his word is gold. I really believe that he is a man of integrity and cares about the customer. There was nothing hard from the sales manager, or from Kyle. I actually enjoyed the experience and would recommend working with these guys in a heartbeat. As a bonus, after rating the experience with Costco, I even received more perks - they more than pay for the price of a Costco membership if you don't already have one. More

We truly enjoyed working with Gus Kostopulos. In fact, we have never had a better car buying experience than we did with Gus. We had just come from Right Toyota in Scottsdale where we had been treated VE we have never had a better car buying experience than we did with Gus. We had just come from Right Toyota in Scottsdale where we had been treated VERY poorly; so poorly that we literally walked in to sign the papers to purchase the car and left within 10 minutes. We contacted Power Toyota Scion Tempe and Gus followed up with us within minutes. One of the first things he did was acknowledge our bad experience and made a commitment to provide us the best customer service and experience, regardless of whether we purchased a car from Power Toyota Scion Tempe or not. These were not just words. Gus actually did exactly what he said. We had already decided on a particular vehicle (2012 Scion xD), so Gus got right down to showing us the inventory available in the state. Once we had chosen the car with the features we wanted, he then broke down all of the pricing for us. He literally showed us the documents with the pricing and broke it down so we could understand it and see how we arrived at the price we did. Nothing was hidden. We had never had that experience before. There was no haggling over price, no going in the back to speak with the finance guy, no new people showing up all of a sudden to try and sell us on something. It was straightforward and explained in detail right in front of us. Power didn't have the specific car on their lot, so a dealer trade was necessary. It was the weekend when dealerships are most busy, so it took 3 days to confirm that the car was available. Gus stayed in communication with us the entire time, giving us updates, letting us know that he was still waiting to hear back, where we were in the process, etc. The car we ended up with had tinting on it, which we had not decided on originally, so Gus let us know and made no assumptions that we still wanted that vehicle. In other words, nothing was hidden and no additional features just appeared without us knowing ahead of time and agreeing to it. The loan we used to purchase the car was not in our name, so once the dealer trade was secured, Gus set up a time for all of us to go through all of the paperwork together. Gus was very helpful, patient, and explained everything clearly. He went over the pricing structure again and did so happily. He was not frustrated at all about having to repeat himself. We then went to Finance and met with Tom Sullivan, who was very informative, helpful, and put no pressure on us whatsoever. He spent time explaining everything to us. He was great. The car arrived the next day and we requested to pick it up at 9:30 am. Gus was not scheduled to come in for another 5 hours, but he came in early to walk us through the features of the car and the information we needed to know. (This experience was also very informative, clear, and he took his time. There was no rushing.) He did this to work with our schedule and make sure that we were able to pick up the car at a time that worked best for us. To repeat: Gus came into work 5 hours early to accommodate us. It was really spectacular. The entire experience with Gus was supremely top notch and we can’t recommend him enough! He is very friendly, honest, straightforward, helpful, no-pressure, and really has his customers' best interests at heart. Our experience with Gus was the type that everyone deserves and wishes they could have. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU GUS! More
My wife and I had visited another Toyota dealership as well as 2 Chevy dealerships and there was no comparison on customer service and quality satisfaction in our purchase of a new Tundra from Power Toyot well as 2 Chevy dealerships and there was no comparison on customer service and quality satisfaction in our purchase of a new Tundra from Power Toyota. Richard was very knowledgable and curtious and there was no misunderstandings of what we wanted, like other dealerships. I appreciate the professionalism displayed by Mr, Ouellete, and would return to him for future vehicles or to refer him to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle. More

With the advent of the Internet and Costco pricing, that has changed. I contacted Richard Ouellette via a secondary email address with no details and no phone number. I told him what I was looking for; what options I wanted and did not want. I did this with 2 other dealers also. I was not even sure I was going to trade my Infiniti as it was in great mechanical shape after 10 years. Richard nevertheless replied to me immediately with internet pricing on 3 different vehicles in stock. No nonsense involved. The 2 other dealers told me they were sure I would get a good deal and I should 'come on down' which I was not interested in doing. I called Richard and spoke to him. He was straight forward; answered my questions; we discussed options and possibilities and I immediately decided he was my kind of guy. Honest, straight-shooter. We continued to email for a couple of days and narrowed the deal down. He still did not know who I was. Eventually I made an appointment for a test drive and took my Infiniti in. He was waiting for me and we went on a drive. he was in no hurry; answered questions; explained the hybrid and the nav system and made me very comfortable. We returned and Richard gave me the exact out the door pricing sheet that requested. Carmello gave me an offer sheet with trade in value. We haggled for a day and came to resolution and I bought a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE with options, which I had not wanted to do initially. They were experienced, non-pressurizing and a pleasure to deal with. They found my car elsewhere in the Valley and got it the next day. When I arrived to pick it up, Carmello told me there was an additional $500 trade bonus from Toyota. I found this very ethical as I would not otherwise have known. Richard made sure I knew everything when I left and phoned me the next day to find out if I had any questions. You will get internet pricing which beats the old fashioned way hands down. I did not deal with Finance much as I paid cash but did buy an extended warranty on the Hybrid. It's essential in my opinion with all those electronics and I keep cars 8-10 years. The car they delivered has no issues as yet. If you want a Toyota call Richard or Carmello. More
Thank you for this opportunity to explain why I have rated my car buying experience so highly. I have an 11 year old daughter and take car buying rather seriously. It is a matter of safety, reliabilit rated my car buying experience so highly. I have an 11 year old daughter and take car buying rather seriously. It is a matter of safety, reliability, comfort, and money well spent. I do a lot of research before ever contacting a dealership and generally have a good idea which vehicle I want, my option wish-list, how much it should cost, and a general idea of availability. I spoke and visited with staff at 2 other locations prior to Power Toyota Tempe and both disappointed me. Mr. Richard Ouellette (Internet Manager) called me after I requested quotes through USAA and immediately I felt relief at hearing his straightforward approach and clear, honest information. Richard was a delight to work with, fun, efficient and great at explaining the process, as well as how to use the multimedia car tools. I will seek Richard out in future. Tom Sullivan was our finance manager and we had a great experience with him also. Please feel free to contact me if you would like additional information. Thanks, Dawn. More
On Saturday, August 11, I called this dealership for a test drive after I identified two different pre owned Toyota Camrys. Prior to this, I had originally called to test drive a Toyota Avalon I was attra test drive after I identified two different pre owned Toyota Camrys. Prior to this, I had originally called to test drive a Toyota Avalon I was attracted to the price, mileage, and a special promotion for $500 off any posted price. The sales representative who answered the phone was Kimberly Franklin. I called her at approximately 1:00PM. She called back to advise me the Avalon had just been purchased that morning. I called back about 30 minutes later regarding two Camrys. She said she would check to make sure both autos were still on the lot, and "call me right back". Two hours passed and I had not heard from Kim, so I called back to inquire about the status of the vehicles. She said that several customers had come in and she was swamped. This, in my mind, did not excuse her inability to meet the commitment she made. I was anxious to drive a vehicle that day. She asked how soon I wanted to test drive the vehicle, and I said "immediately". But then on second thought, since it was getting late in the day, I said I could probably wait til the following day, Sunday, August 5. Kim said she came in at 10 so we set my appointment for then. The next morning, I ran into a conflict and called Kim to advise her that I would not be able to make it in til 10:30. She advised me that she would not see me then because she had another appointment at noon. I was confused because I did not understand why it would take more than an hour let alone an hour and a half to test drive two vehicles, one of which I felt I would wind up purchasing. Frustrated, I asked Kim when the NEXT opening was on her calender for the day, and she said 2:00PM. Instead of going over to Power Toyota, I decided to use the time to go and test drive a Honda CRV at Superstition Springs Honda. I test drove two vehicles there in 30 minutes because the sales rep there had the cars waiting in the lot when I arrived (what a concept!) In between test drives, I received a voicemail from Kim Franklin advising me that her noon appointment had cancelled and she was available sooner than 2:00PM I drove a Rav4 at the Honda dealership as well. As I sat down to talk with the sales rep there, I realized that it was closing in on 2:00 PM and I did not want to be late. I abrubtly left the Honda dealership as to make sure I would keep my 2:00 committment with Kim Franklin. At 1:55, I was just coming off the I 10 onto Elliot Rd and close to the dealership, Power Toyota, I called the dealership to let Kim know I was just around the corner. The receptionist advised me that "I am sorry, but Kim left for the day". Incredulous, I asked why, and I was told that she had no more appointments for the day. It is pretty obvious that when Kim did not hear back from me, she decided to blow me off. I raced back to meet MY committment and Kim's response was to go home because, apparently, this appointment was not convienent for her. In summary, it is pretty obvious to me that Kim Franklin works to appease HER schedule, and not the customer. Having worked in Corporate marketing and sales my entire carreer, I could have sworn it was supposed to be the other way around. Note to Kim: When you are too busy to see a customer, place him/her into the hands of one of your associates. This is what a professional sales person would do. More
