I experienced the typical good customer service, got me checked in quickly. Not too much of a problem, but I had to wait over an hour to get a ride home. I took my 2017 Tacoma into the dealership due to it having issues changing to 4WD. After a $200 diagnosis, I was told that the actuator on the transfer case was continuously running and needed to be replaced. And since they "didn't know" whether or not there was damage to the transfer case, they wanted to replace the entire actuator assembly and transfer case, I was quoted $4600 because they "didn't know" if there was damage... You can easily tell if there is damage on the transfer case by removing the fluid and checking the drain plug for metal shavings. After some discussion with the service advisor, Eric Rodriguez, it became apparent that he was not knowledgeable on what work he was suggesting be done to my truck. He also could not answer multiple questions regarding service expirations and had to ask other advisors. Most question I asked, he had to go talk to the tech or another advisor and clarify. I was told this was an issue they had never heard of before. After denying service and taking my truck home, I found on Toyota forums that this is a very common issue with the 3rd gen tacoma, and I was able to fix the problem in 20 minutes by myself without spending a dime. It seemed obvious to me that they only cared about making a buck, and didn't want to do any critical thinking to actually resolve what is a known issue with their vehicles in a practical manner. I love Toyota vehicles, however I have lost faith in this dealership and would highly recommend anyone to avoid it. More
The service agent did not provide accurate time frames for a simple oil change. The original estimate was 1.5 hours. The actual time frame was more than 3 hours. for a simple oil change. The original estimate was 1.5 hours. The actual time frame was more than 3 hours. More
