Certified Pre-owned not a one owner vehicle-can't register. I purchased a Certified preowned Highlander. It was supposedly a one owner Vehicle. They provided me a Carfax which stated so. After driving the c I purchased a Certified preowned Highlander. It was supposedly a one owner Vehicle. They provided me a Carfax which stated so. After driving the car for two months without receiving registration or title-I had paid cash-I was pulled over by the CHP and given a ticket for expired tags. When I called the dealer I was given the runaround until I finally spoke with someone who told me that they were trying to unwind a prior transaction. Someone had purchased the car before me and returned it. This was not a one owner vehicle. Because I learned that the front brakes did not meet CPO standards and that the front tires did not meet the standards they agreed to and did replace the tires and front brakes and rotors promising to have title and registration in a week. Three weeks later, I was pulled over again and on May 14 the CHP officer advised me that the vehicle showed up on the DMV records with a release of liability to a company called Motor City. Another thing Relates to the trade-in that AutoNation Irvine took in on this transaction. Two months after they were supposed to have completed transfer documents and/or a release of liability for my old Highlander I received a tollroad violation for that car. Apparently, AutoNation Irvine did not properly handle the information on the trade in that the tollroad people thought that I still owned it because that's all that the DMV knew. AutoNation Irvine dropped the ball and has left me exposed to liability. I have asked five or six times when it was that my paperwork was turned in to the DMV and I was never given an answer. On May 10 I received a call from a gentleman whose name I did not bother to take down who promised me that I would have my registration and title shortly-within a day or two he would deliver it. I told him what he was saying was meaningless to me without action. I literally paid auto nation Irvine over $24,000 in cash plus my trade-in for this car and now I am unable to drive it legally. I have sent AutoNation Irvine notification that I am rescinding The transaction, that they can pick the vehicle up and return me my money----something over $27,000 for my payment and trade and leaving me without a vehicle. I had a very pleasant buying experience and got a good deal, but they will never see me again because their shop tried to soak me. Be warned. We have a nearly new Sienna Limited with 2,700 miles. We ended up with the tailgate ("rear door") misaligned because we tried to hold it shut as it was opening. AutoNation wanted to put on a whole new tailgate -- paint a new panel, take the whole thing apart, and put it back together! They proposed to charge me thousands of dollars and keep it in the shop for a week. Caliber Collision fixed it in a day for $182. When I was buying the car, I asked the salesperson why they beat every other dealer's price. They said they make it back in service. Now I know how they do that! Don't trust them! More
Run around after trying to cancel extended warranty. We bought a Toyota Sienna a month ago with an extended warranty from Ziaur Hamid in financing. After realizing the warranty was a total ripoff ($2695) We bought a Toyota Sienna a month ago with an extended warranty from Ziaur Hamid in financing. After realizing the warranty was a total ripoff ($2695) which can be found for less than half the price, we decided to cancel the extended warranty. After getting the run around on the phone and being told that they are busy (we have only seen many employees standing around), we were told that we had to come back in to sign a new contract. So I loaded up my sick family and drove an hour and a half on my day off to write a new contract. Ziaur assured us that everything was fine and said that the old contract had not gone through. Two weeks later we received a letter from the bank showing the higher payment with the extended warranty! After again getting the run around without any return calls we were again assured that everything was fine and to call back when we get the bill if it isn't correct. Well sure enough today we got the bill and it is the higher amount!!!! I have eleven days to pay and waiting for a call. Of course the excuse is that they are busy being a Saturday! Avoid this dealership!!! You have been warned! More
Questionable Integrity I purchased a used 2012 Prius Plug-In from AutoNation Toyota Irvine in late September 2014. I had several experiences that are not what I have come t I purchased a used 2012 Prius Plug-In from AutoNation Toyota Irvine in late September 2014. I had several experiences that are not what I have come to expect from a Toyota dealership. This was my 5th vehicle purchase from a Toyota dealership in the last 30 years and my worst experience overall. Issue 1: When I met with the finance agent, he told me that my certified vehicle qualified as a new vehicle and that it was important that I purchase their bumper-bumper warranty for $2,200. I told him that I was fine without it. He brought over another agent to try to convince me by adding a year to the warranty; I again politely declined. The first agent then went on to tell me that the Prius electronics may have a problem in the future and could cost me $5,000 to repair so it would be wise for me to purchase the warranty. I again told him no thank you. The agent than shook his head in disbelief, chuckling saying, “…okaaaaaay, if that’s what you want to do” as if I was a fool for turning him down. The next thing the finance agent did was to give me a survey of the salesman’s and of his performance. I rated the salesman as exceptional and the finance agent as acceptable (or something similar to that rating). The agent looked at my ratings and asked if I realized that I had rated him lower than he has ever been rated. I said that he had done his job but I saw nothing exceptional about his performance. How does someone try to make you feel foolish then question you on a rating for their less than stellar performance? He then was curt with me, stopped smiling and was slamming some papers on his desk telling me only, sign her, sign here. Note to Corporate: don’t put customers on the spot with a survey of a person who will immediately review the customer’s inputs. You will almost never get a true rating. Issue 2: My only condition at the time of sale was that a cargo net for groceries be added for my wife at no cost to the sales transaction. The condition was agreed to and I was told that it would be a “due bill” and arrive within a few weeks after it was determined that one was not available at the dealership. As the paperwork was processed, I asked if I needed a receipt acknowledging that a cargo net would be sent to me at no charge. The response given was that it was a due bill and that there was no need. I checked with the salesman several times on the cargo net by phone and several more times by email over the next 3 months. On my first 2 requests, the salesman assured me that I should have received this cargo net and that he would check to see what happened. I then sent a third email to the salesman’s manager. I have yet to receive the net nor have I received any follow up communication whatsoever. This is an unacceptable condition. There is no excuse for poor customer service and lack of communication. It seems as if there was never any intent to fulfill this commitment. Overall, there are too many other reputable Toyota dealerships out there than AutoNation Toyota Irvine to deal with. I do not recommend them. More
Bad service overall Do not buy or bring your Toyota for service at this dealership. They only care about getting your money. I have a 2009 Venza purchased from this dealership, and all maintenance done here as well. This model Venza had many issues, with the Check Engine Light (CEL) coming on a lot of times. I brought the car in for the CEL in August 2014, and was diagnosed with needing to replace the stop lamp switch (which was already replaced before as part of a recall) and replace the O2 sensor. A week later, the CEL came back on! The mileage at that time was 58784 mi. Due to busy schedule, I wasn't able to go back to this dealership right away. The CEL came on and off, so I thought maybe it was only a false alarm. Finally, I brought the car in to complain about the CEL; this was almost 2 months after the last service. The mileage at this time was 60210 mi, which meant it was 210 miles over the powertrain warranty. Also, it was over by 3 months from the 60-month powertrain warranty. The service advisor offered free diagnosis, since it hasn't been that long since the last service for what seemed like the same CEL issue. I was told that the codes for the new CEL pointed to failed coils, and I was looking at around $500 to get it fixed. But alas! They spent an hour or two trying to find the defective coil, but it turned out that wasn't the issue! The service advisor told me they had to run more tests and I had to leave the car (it was a Saturday); I was offered a compact courtesy vehicle in place of my crossover SUV. The following Tuesday, I was told about unbalanced pressure which could mean defective piston or engine. What?! Service advisor already made some calls including to the mothership. Since I was over the powertrain warranty (by a mere 210 mi. and 3 months), Toyota Corp said that they will cover the parts (either the pistons or the engine) if I would pay the labor. Ok great! Not really, because labor would cost either $2200 (if replacing engine) or $2300 (if replacing just the piston rings and gasket)! xxx!!! But if I decided to not pursue the repair, I would still be charged for all the diagnostics performed, which according to the service advisor was about 7 hours of labor. At about $150/hour, that is still a fortune! I felt like I'm trapped, and had no recourse but to authorize the work. Immediately after authorizing the work, I called Toyota's 1-800 number to beg for my case. I was told that if the district was already consulted by the dealership, that the decision was likely final. Great! So Tuesday and Wednesday came for more troubleshooting. I was still hoping that the engine would just be replaced to make it worthwhile to spend $2200. But Thursday came the bad news. Only the piston rings and gasket were going to be replaced. Finally, on Tuesday night, the car was ready and I eventually picked it up Wednesday. So it took 11 days for me to get back my car. Toyota and Autonation Irvine don't care about keeping their customers. Because if they did, they should have covered the cost of all the labor. A Toyota that had a near-replacement of the engine at 60k miles, that's almost unheard of. In hindsight, I should have brought this car to Culver Toyota. I have an insider at Culver Toyota who echoed my sentiment, and said that Culver would have covered the labor if I brought it there. Autonation Irvine just didn't care! And oh yeah, just to give you more examples of the exemplary service of Autonation Irvine... The technician lost my key for the wheel locks, and he didn't bother changing back the dash clock after the battery was disconnected. And smudge marks all over my beige leather seats. Add me to the list of former Toyota owners. Never again. I have 2 young kids and care too much for their safety. I won't gamble their safety on this Venza whose engine has been torn apart and put back by God knows how qualified their techs are. I thought Toyota stood for quality. That was a big mistake. More

If you like being yelled at by sales managers, wrongfully informed about special offers to get you in the door, & made to feel like a lying selfish pe If you like being yelled at by sales managers, wrongfully informed about special offers to get you in the door, & made to feel like a lying selfish person then this is the place for you!! I went in yesterday after several emails between an internet sales person I was happy with the price I received & took my whole family in to purchase our new car. So we get there & they bring out the car that you wanted take you on a test drive & then BAM!! Oh by the way the special we told you about isn't for the model you want it's only available on the smaller model... Well ok then.. So we asked what anyone would ask after being told Ops we made a booboo & now we expect you to pay thousands more then what we originally told you... How about you give us a little bit more off or give us some accessories to makeup the difference? After being told no once we asked again & apparently this is when we pissed off the sales manager.. This is when he comes over & starts yelling at us tell me were not making any money of this sale, this price is already below market value, you can't get this price any where else, blah blah blah.. As I tried to explain our situation.. The sales manager just kept talking over me wouldn't allow me to get 1 word in.. I finally had to yell back at him & remind him that "HEY I'M THE CUSTOMER HERE!! Let me speak!!!" After explaining what happened he said people are human we make mistakes.. Ok I get that I'm human & I've made plenty of mistakes in my life, but you think you give me a break since I was the one that was lied to & had just spent 3 hrs being yelled at & dicked around, but no.. Instead he told me that I should buy the smaller one that has the 60 mon 0% APR special.. No thanks.. We have a family & needed to have a bigger car... & then he goes to tell us we should do the 0% at 36 mon APR... Hmmm I'm not sure how many families can afford to just dble their car payment budget just because a sales manager thinks his commission is more important then your welfare.. At this point yes I'm pretty frustrated.. The sales manager tells me that I shouldn't be mad & that he won't sell me the car if I'm angry, & that they take reviews & customer surveys seriously & that I should be happy were getting a new car.. Wow geez thanks, but no thanks.. Here's the thing at the end of the day we're going to buy the car regardless of 0% APR or 2.5% APR you need the car you need the car. & honestly if they had just been a little nicer we probably would've bought it anyways, but you know what every dealership I requested quotes from said that they would either beat or match whatever price I'm given so it's really no loss for me. Just a waste of my time & my sanity.. My family has purchased probably 4 cars from this location & I have been pleased with every previous purchase hence why we went back here 1st to buy, but I guess that rude sales manager thinks we were expendable.. Oh well who's loss is it really?? More

Bought used 2008 Scion xB, and they gave me less than a quarter tank of gas and didn't even detail my car before I left. Heard strange noises in the rear for weeks, so took it into the Service Department quarter tank of gas and didn't even detail my car before I left. Heard strange noises in the rear for weeks, so took it into the Service Department who were apathetic, rude and incompetent. They tried to charge me even though I purchased a full warranty- after proving it, they hesitated to not charge me service fees. They told me they needed to order a part to fix my car and that it would arrive in less than a week- they would call when it did. I waited a week and a half with no call, and I called today to see what the status was. After being transferred three times, they finally said my part had been in for seven days and hung up. When I called back, the person, Bree, said that there was no record of my part anywhere but would make an appointment for me anyways. We shall see how that goes but so far extremely disappointed- I would not be back to this dealership, thats for sure. By the way, they never called or sent a survey in which they asked for feedback- well here it is! More
