On January 27, 2024 I had an appoinment with the Service Department at AutoNation Subaru in Scottsdale for a wheel alignment. When I dropped off the car to my Service Representative I asked "How long do you Department at AutoNation Subaru in Scottsdale for a wheel alignment. When I dropped off the car to my Service Representative I asked "How long do you estimate this will take?" The representative said about one hour. I then replied, "The reason I ask is that if it is to take longer I would leave the car and pick it up later." I then took a seat and waited in the waiting room for 10 minutes short of 3 hours before I got up and asked the representative, "How is that alignment coming?" To which he replied it was ready and as I looked outside I saw that it was in fact ready. As I stood there with my credit card in hand, I waited another approximately 10-15 minutes while the representative talked on the phone. After I finally paid, I asked, "How much did it come to?" It was then and only then that he shared the receipt with me and I saw the agreed upon price. I then stated, "You estimated the service would take 1 hour it is now more than 3 hours." He replied simply, "I'm sorry it took so long." without any further explanation. I again stated, "You know, 3 hours is a lot longer than 1 hour. Had I known it would take this long I would have left it." Again he responded, "I apologize for the delay." Nothing more, Now, just to be clear, I completely understand how a customer should be flexible regarding estimated time of service. I understand things happen. For example, a mechanic may have called in sick and that set the appointments behind. Or, a representative may have called in sick, or the dealership has not hired the correct number of employees to do their job effectively. Some, or all of these reasons might have been the case on this date of service for my appointment. The primary reason for my lack of patience in this particular matter was that no reason for the delay was given to me by my representative on that day. What I would expect from a professional representative at a reputable dealership is that the representative would have sought out the customer who has been patiently sitting for 1.5 hours waiting for service to be completed after being given an estimated service time of only one hour. On this occasion no contact was made with this customer sitting in the waiting room to explain the reasons for the delay. Finally, after more than 3 hours from the time I arrived to the time I walked out with a receipt for service no explanation was given to this customer...only an apology. I have already looked for locations for other Subaru dealers in my vicinity and may visit them for future service. I must say in closing, to be fair, I have waited in the waiting area on several past occasions.This was the only occasion at this dealership that I found the length of service time performed, or the communication from the representative was inferior.. I brought my car in to Subaru Nation after having a few mishaps with my car maintenance a few years ago.
