I came to AutoNation Honda Clearwater for at least 10 years, Craig Lipply was my Service writer, I felt good about coming here with my 2004 Honda SI. We spared no expense keeping her in top shape for my years, Craig Lipply was my Service writer, I felt good about coming here with my 2004 Honda SI. We spared no expense keeping her in top shape for my wife. We spent over $10,000.00 over the years on tires, brakes, struts, oil changes...so imagine my surprise when my wife came back from an oil change saying the car was running “funny”. I went out to check the oil only to discover that it was 2 quarts over filled. I drained the oil as I did not want to run it with that much oil in it. Well to my surprise, the oil was pitch black and had a real foul smell, not clear and fresh. I replaced the oil with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. On the dip stick the oil was at the correct level, color was a clear amber on the dipstick. It turns out they were adding BG MOA into the engine, but NOT CHANGING THE OIL. While changing the oil and filter I noticed the filter was used to get the oil sample I always request, it was wet and oily, the filter was also dirty, not fresh. The oil drain plug had not been opened, and the pan was dirty, not wiped clean, showing it had not been touched. This is not what is expected from a Honda dealer, especially an Auto Nation shop. Well, when I brought this to Craig's attention, he looked panicked. Alan the lead Service tech flat out called me a liar, and said “well you can't prove it”. I handed him a sample of the black sludge that came out of the crankcase, "Well you could have gotten that anywhere". And went on to berate me and defend the kid who was supposed to do the oil change. Also he said “This is what happens when you don’t change your oil often.” For 10 years we had our oil done there at 3000 miles or less. I went to Eric the G.M., he offered to change the oil again, but that just does not cover it. How many miles did it go on that oil? I will never use Auto Nation for any of my automotive needs. Nor will I recommend them to anyone I know. This is how customer loyalty is rewarded? They have gone downhill. My son took his 2004 Accord in there for brakes, $1200.00. We wanted new rotors, pads and front calipers as they were seized. What we got for $1200.00 was brake pads, not even OEM, on top of that the calipers were not lubed so they were binding, the front brakes were not working properly. It was a death trap. Here is the thing; AutoNation Clearwater charged an exorbitant price for a BS Job. I am an elder and it is not as easy to get under and work on autos any more. We come to trust the dealers. This dealer cannot be trusted. Do not let your loved ones get ripped off by this dealer. I do not know what happened to them but they are not to be trusted. If once you forfeit the confidence of your fellow-citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. Abraham Lincoln Trust is a fragile thing, once lost or damaged may never be found again More
