I took my F-150 in for it's first oil change service. I had made an appointment with Christian, and told him I was going to have to wait while the truck was being serviced. Your Review: Ford is moving away from its old corporate dealer network to online sales. Some things that have not gone well can be laid to this awkward transition. I ordered a Ford Mustang Mach e a year be dealer network to online sales. Some things that have not gone well can be laid to this awkward transition. I ordered a Ford Mustang Mach e a year before it was actually delivered. Throughout, neither Ford nor the dealership was able to communicate meaningfully with this buyer, causing much frustration. There were months of unexplained delays. The bright note is that the price protection* and no additional dealer markup promises were honored. *Price protection was Ford's stated policy of assuring the person ordering the car that the quoted price at the time of the order would be the same price at the time of purchase. However, at the time of purchase, the dealership required that the "raised" price quoted by Ford at the time of purchase be paid by the buyer and that the difference ($2000) would be requested from Ford by the dealership and someday reimbursed to the buyer. Other dealers honored the price protection and did not overcharge their buyers $2000. California sales tax was charged on the $2000 overpayment that is expected to be reimbursed to the buyer months later. The $155 overpayment of the sales tax is needlessly out of the buyer's pocket but who has it is unknown. (This dealership/Ford also required a $1500 deposit on the order which was held by them for a year. It was applied to the purchase price but it was "lost opportunity cost" for 12 months on the $1500.) The long delay in delivery with poor communication seems to be Ford's problem. The dealership assessing a higher price than the "price protection" promise, followed by their request to Ford for eventual reimbursement is "problem" of the dealership. These two things tainted this buyer's experience. More
