A story of amazing employees stuck behind the limitations of unfortunate policies. I purchased a 2022 F150 from AutoNation Ford Miami and have had issues with the engine wanting to stall while idle. of unfortunate policies. Upon taking it to the service center I spoke with Orlando, a man who genuinely cares about correcting situations that interfere with the lives of his customers. As Orlando inspected the vehicle for damage during the initial walkthrough, he sat in the truck and turned it on and instantly recognized there was an issue that should not be present on any vehicle, whether it was fresh off of the buy now pay now lot or the assembly line. Orlando asked if he could keep the vehicle overnight in order to show it to an in-house engineer and see if a diagnosis could be attempted, and upon receiving the vehicle back explained to me that an in-depth analysis of the results may take up to 60 days. After receiving the truck back, it was driven regularly and after several days, the problem devolved and unfortunately got much worse. I brought the truck back and mentioned the issue to Orlando who asked me to wait in the provided lounge area while he asked the director if there was anything that could be done. To my dismay, as soon as I saw his face when he walked back into the door, I knew his interaction with the director did not fair well. He informed me that unless there was a verified check engine light, I was out of luck. Having been a Plumber for seven years, I understand having to deliver unfortunate news that you have no control over. Orlando conducted himself in the highest of regard, but unfortunately reached the limit of what his company would allow him to do in this situation. If there were a few more individuals like him in positions where a difference could be made, I wholeheartedly believe that the company could excel and shine like a beacon attracting customers through a reputation of caring and understanding. Instead, there is a customer left with a $75,000 Truck that struggles to idle paying over $1,000 a month. I understand it is not the fault of the service department that the truck is faulty; however, I blame poor practices that are limiting capable employees from solving situations that they genuinely care about fixing. If I don't call to find out what's wrong with my truck or get a status on it, my truck will still be at the shop probably not even being worked on.
