After waiting 6 months for a part to come in, I was scheduled for an appointment Monday morning. Scheduled a same day service to replace the original battery for my 2016 F-150. Thankful that they were able to get me in that day since the battery would no longer hold a charge. On arrival, agreed to battery for my 2016 F-150. Thankful that they were able to get me in that day since the battery would no longer hold a charge. On arrival, agreed to purchase a lifetime battery for $199 + tax. I knew that a replacement battery was likely $120 so I felt the $199 was reasonable to pay so I'd never have to buy another battery for as long as I owned the pickup. Once the work was completed, I was advised that the $199 lifetime battery was not available and instead they installed a battery with a 3-year warranty for $189 + tax. Understandably (I think) I balked at the $10 difference between a lifetime battery and a battery with a 3-year warranty, especially since the battery that had been installed at the factory lasted 6 years. The service advisor responded by knocking $14 off the $189 price, down to $175 + tax. Needless to say, I still felt that paying the dealer nearly $200 for the battery was offensive and I politely stated as much. I also indicated that I would take my service needs elsewhere after this instance of obvious price gouging. The advisor then lowered the bill once more to $152 (including tax). Strangely enough, that works out to be consistent with the install of a comparable battery at other locations. I'll let someone else offer an opinion about why they came down over $55 from the initial price they quoted me versus what I actually ended up paying. Suffice it to say, as big of a hassle as it is to switch where I get my pickup serviced, I'm not willing to do the dance with the service department of AutoNation Ford of Bellevue any longer. More

My service advisor correctly set expectations for the scope of recall service and timing for completion of the work.
