Over all the service was good, for now. I have to come back for warranty work due to no loner vehicles being available. SO I will wait to rate that experience. He was professional, patient, and polite. He worked hard to keep me informed about the status of my vehicle. Thanks Ethan. More
I finally got my vehicle back after 3 MONTHS, after it was diagnosed with needing a dpf, I decided that I was going to use the funds approved by the insurance company to complete the repairs myself. I inf was diagnosed with needing a dpf, I decided that I was going to use the funds approved by the insurance company to complete the repairs myself. I informed the service advisor of this decision and told him I need to know how much I owed to pickup the vehicle, as-is. I also told him that if it was still disassembled, that I didn’t want anything done and I would have it towed. He got back to me the next day, telling me that it was completely assembled and drivable, so I came and picked it up. I ordered my own parts to complete the repairs and a few days later was underneath the vehicle, checking everything over before I did any work on the vehicle. That is when I found one of the sensors for the dpf, loose, hanging beside the dpf, not even loosely threaded in. (See attached image) I hope you can appreciate how serious this mistake was, during a regeneration cycle the dpf will get as hot as 1200° Fahrenheit, if the vehicle had attempted a regen with that sensor hanging it, leaving a gaping hole in the dpf, it’s not unlikely that the vehicle would have caught fire, potential endangering my life, the lives of any passengers and the first responders that would have to extinguish it, not to mention the destruction of property. My experience dealing with AutoNation CDJR Spring for the repairs on my vehicle has been, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership service center, it should have never taken 3 MONTHS to get everything properly diagnosed, communication was poor, and at one point it was attempted to charge me to repair fuel lines that could only have been damaged while the vehicle was with the dealership. Leaving the vehicle at risk of a fire, while telling me it is completely assembled and drivable, just puts things on a whole new level. That fact that it took three months is in large part due to the fact that the standard procedure for water getting in to a diesel fuel system is to replace the entire system, especially when it’s being covered by insurance. This was not done, and once the technician let the insurance company know that they might get away with less, there was no going back, so things had to be done piecemeal, and there are still large portions of the fuel system that were not replaced, that could have been damaged and may still fail in the future. Worst, most inept dealership service department ever! More
