Worst experiences in 42 years of having a vehicle serviced. Had an appointment for daughter’s 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee June 13, 2022 @ 8:15 AM, Safety Recall V62 – Fuel Pump Relay and likely Starter serviced. Had an appointment for daughter’s 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee June 13, 2022 @ 8:15 AM, Safety Recall V62 – Fuel Pump Relay and likely Starter issue. Arrived 15 minutes early and was greeted by Eric, had to explain everything to him that I put in the online reservation, said I left it running since if it’s turned off it won’t crank and will have to sit/cool off before it will start again. He asked me about the battery, I explained it was good and thought it was likely the starter. He said they could jump it and I said it’s not the battery. He said there would be a diagnostic fee that would be applied towards the repairs and it would be 2 days before they would get to it. This was a total surprise since I had an appointment, there was no mention of any delays in the online scheduler which defeats the purpose of scheduling an appointment. He assured me that he would call me on Wednesday. Well, I never heard back from Eric on Wednesday so I called him at the dealership and on his cell in the afternoon. He was on his way home for lunch and asked I text him and he would call me when he got back to the dealership. Several hours later I never heard back from him so I tried calling him back a little after 5 PM but no answer. As I was hanging up I received a call from Dana, she said that the tech was just finishing up another vehicle and was going to run diagnostics on mine but didn’t know if they would know anything today and would call me if they do otherwise it would be in the morning. I explained my frustration now that it’s another day without a vehicle and they still haven’t gotten to it. I asked about a loaner and she said they haven’t had any in over a year due to the shortage on vehicles. She assured me that she would get back to me as soon as she hears something. I asked if she was now the assigned service advisor instead of Eric and she said yes. Thursday afternoon no update, I called Dana and she said they still haven’t gotten to it so she pulled the RO to have a senior tech look at it. She didn’t know what was going on with the assigned tech and hoped to have something later today. I said at this point just do the recall and not the diagnostics. A couple hours later Dana called, they completed the recall and hoped it fixed the other problem. She proceeded to reiterate the reason for the delays and I said why schedule an appointment only to be told when dropping it off it will be 2 days before getting to it and then take additional days for something that only took about 2 ½ hours to do. I asked to have the shuttle come pick me up, she said when it rains it pours they didn’t have shuttle service today. I said I’ll get up before they closed today. A couple hours later Dana called, said when they went to park it out front they noticed a noise and said they really needed to diagnose it, seemed like the starter. I stated that was what I put on the online appointment and when I dropped it off. I said I live just down the road and thought I would start bringing our business to them but after this unpleasant experience I really doubt it. She said she would try to get it diagnosed today but would likely be in the morning and get back to me. Friday morning Dana called, the starter needed to be replaced and gave me a quote. I said I needed to get a hold of my daughter to see what she wanted to do. About an hour later after hearing back from my daughter I texted Dana that she was frustrated and has decided to hold off doing anything else and to please have the shuttle come pick me up right away. Upon arrival the paperwork wasn’t ready, Dana said it would need to be towed since now the starter just spins and won’t engage. This just added to the overall horrible experience since it had been working. To top things off I now had to call a towing service and ended up waiting 3 hours. I do have to say, at least Dana was a little more responsive. More
This was my first visit to this dealer and I must say that I was impressed and will return for all my vehicle service. Over priced service. Would not replace parts that should have been covered by my extended warranty.
