My boyfriend and I were in an accident and my car was totaled. I was on the hunt for a car for a month and found one I liked online at AutoNation. I get my car serviced at Tropical Ford, but they didn't totaled. I was on the hunt for a car for a month and found one I liked online at AutoNation. I get my car serviced at Tropical Ford, but they didn't have anything on the lot in my price range that I liked. My boyfriend saw a black mustang convertible with navigation and a backup camera which is what I was looking for. Navigation and a back up camera. The infotainment system said it needed an update which was no big deal as I updated the system in my last car. Jonathan and Moe (salesmen) were awesome and I'll sing their praises to everyone. Those two are the ONLY good things about AutoNation. Now.. let's get to the dumpster fire it really is. When I bought the car, I was told that everything was 110%. New brakes, fully serviced, new convertible roof, etc. HA! The brakes started squeaking and I called immediately. I specifically told them the sound was coming from the front left. Remember I said that. I took it in and was told I had four new brake pads put on and to expect squeaking for a few days while they were being broken in. A week later the brakes were SCREAMING, there was a whistling sound while I accelerated, and my infotainment system went black. No radio, no navigation, no nothing. I called and took it back in and was baffled when I was told that it needed the routers trimmed and new brakes. I also found out that the first time I took it in, they put two brake pads on the back. Like.. what?! Remember I specifically said the sound was coming from the front left and was told I had four new brake pads put on. THEN I was told that since the infotainment system isn't a safety issue, there was nothing they were going to do and it was up to me to get it fixed. Mind you, I had the car for THREE WEEKS at this point. The gentleman from the service department told me to talk to sales about it and tell them to cover it. Side note - my father was a GM of a dealership for 35 years so he knows the business inside and out, and I know more than most - my Dad didn't raise a fool. I spoke to Jonathan and he was sure that the manager would agree to use the $900+ dealer fee they charge when you purchase the car to get the radio fixed. To my surprise, Eugene the manager refused to fix and told me that the dealer fee went to replacing the convertible roof because it was leaking when the car was traded in. That was BEFORE I purchased it, and what dealership is going to willingly sell a car that has a leaking convertible roof? I didn't know the car even existed before stepping foot on that lot and it had already been replaced. But you want to use my $900+ dealer fee for that instead of something that went wrong with the car after I purchased it? I called my dad while Eugene had me on hold and merged the calls. He was nasty to my dad when he made it clear that he was now on the phone and knows how things work. My dad reminded him that the service department did not touch the front brakes when that was where the sound was coming from, on top of the fact they lied and told me they put four brake pads on the first time I had to take it in for service. They didn't even touch the front. Eugene told my father to stop talking because he was talking to me since I purchased the car and not him. He then said he'd have to call us back because he was busy and the only manager there that day and hung up on us. My dad WAS the only manager which is the funny part and he never treated customers like that - he was ranked one of the top GMs in the country. Eugene made it clear that AutoNation's intention is to get every penny they can from you and send you on your merry way to deal with car issues on your own. He was obnoxious, he was rude, and he has no idea how to conduct business. It's been a week and I have not received a call back, nor will he answer his phone. Stay away from AutoNation. I have friends who purchased cars from them before and have very similar stories. I just wish I would've known before buying from them. I would've taken my business elsewhere. More
