I ordered a new 2022 Chevy Tahoe RST Duramax in December 2021. Car arrived March 11, 2022 and purchase finalized March 14. The car was amazing for the family until it broke down & stalled in the middle of 2021. Car arrived March 11, 2022 and purchase finalized March 14. The car was amazing for the family until it broke down & stalled in the middle of the road on March 29 (~two weeks later). My family was lucky we were not rear ended and the vehicle could not go into neutral and be moved off the street for safety. The car was towed to dealer same day. It took 3 tow trucks until a tow truck was able to tow the Tahoe because new 2022 Chevys require some device to put vehicle in neutral and the tow trucks did not have device. This is a serious safety problem for a vehicle. My family and I had to direct traffic for 4 hours until the vehicle was properly towed. There were multiple calls and texts with service manager and GM (general manager) over the next 1-2 weeks to determine what was wrong with the new Tahoe between March 29 and April 10. Finally on April 11, I went in person to the dealer and asked for the GM. I waited 30 minutes until someone spoke to me. The GM could not in "good faith" return the Tahoe to me because the mechanic could not determine the problem. The GM mentioned he had a friend in a brand new suburban that had stalled out on April 10 also. I asked if this was a recall problem and GM said "there needed to be a fatality for a recall to happen." I later found out from General Motors the statement was inaccurate and disheartening for a general manager to tell a customer also. The general manager offerred to reverse the deal and original trade, so I took my chance and getting my original truck back and asked for a full refund. I did not want to own a new Tahoe that the mechanic could not determine what the problem was and risk that I would wreck again with the vehicle stalling. I did not want to be the guinea pig for General Motors "fatality." There have been multiple calls and email to the general manager finance manager with no resolution. I finally got my 5,000 down payment back on 4/28 after multiple calls. I called the finance companies and they had no changes from the dealer on their end. I have made two complaints to General Motors on 4/29 and again on 5/2. I have had minimal response from the dealer. The dealer states they will look into it and call back but do not call back or they give no real update in an email. It is now 5/3 and I have not been reimbursed for mats, tow truck fee, and payments I had made on the new Tahoe. The general manager assured me on 4/11 that refund would occur. I still do not have my original loan reinstated on my original trade vehicle and I have a substantial loan on a new truck in my name that I have not had in my possession since March 29. I have been patient for the deal to be reversed but there is no urgency on the dealer end. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. I have been instructed by the dealer to not make any more payments on the new Tahoe to the finance company, but that payment is past due and I am monitoring the grace period closely. At some point I will have to make another payment soon on the new truck I do not technically have to prevent this affected my excellent credit. This process has taken a lot of time and heartache from my family, and I wish the dealer would keep their word and try to make an effort on customer service and keep the promises they made. They seem to put the blame on me but at the end of the day I only tried to buy a new car and that new car broke down and did not deliver as promised. More
