Paul, I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my new car and the outstanding service. I am new to car-shopping, so it was wonderful to have someone as honest and knowledgeable as Paul helping me my new car and the outstanding service. I am new to car-shopping, so it was wonderful to have someone as honest and knowledgeable as Paul helping me navigate the variety of options to consider when making such a big purchase. At the same time, I felt he truly understood my personal style. The result was a car that is much sportier, newer, and better equipped than I could have dreamt - and still within my budget and at a MUCH lower price that I could possibly find anywhere else. Everyone who sees my car thinks it's brand new thanks to your diligence and attention to detail, and they also say "it's such a 'Jill' car!" because of your personalized service resulted in something that truly reflects my taste and style. I am positively giddy about my car and I genuinely enjoyed the friendly, honest, expert service. I am happy to serve as a reference and I am recommending you to everyone I know! Thanks so much Jill More
In August 2009 I bought a used "luxury" car from Automax, on recommendation from trusted sources who had dealt with them previously. Though the sales process was very smooth, the post-sale service has been.. on recommendation from trusted sources who had dealt with them previously. Though the sales process was very smooth, the post-sale service has been... nothing but problematic. Summary of the 5 big problems: 1. Soon after buying the car I had an issue that needed fixing. 2. Automax couldn’t/wouldn’t find the problem the first 4 times I took the car in. 3. Once they “found” the problem (tie rods), they refused to fix it. 4. Chances are, the problem they “found” isn’t even the real problem...from online forums and a reliable mechanic's inspection/diagnosis, looks like it could be a serious (and costly) issue with the torque converter/transmission. 5. Automax is being sneaky by deleting records, altering records, and making it look like there was never a problem in the first place. Why? My warranty ends in 1200 miles. Details for those who want them: Within a month of buying the car, I noticed a substantial noise occurring frequently between 25 mph and 40 mph. Now, 10 months later, after taking the car back to Automax 4 times to get the noise checked with no resolution, they told me they finally found the cause of the noise...tie rods worn out. The service manager very calmly said they would fix it but charge me for it. When I complained that this was unacceptable, he simply said there were "policies in place" and I've had the car for 10 months now so they wouldn't take care of the problem. When I then asked if they would have fixed it (for free) had they actually found the problem the first time, he calmly responded "yes". Needless to say, I was baffled by this. They should have found and fixed the problem 10 months ago, but didn't. Now they finally "find" the problem but won't fix it because 10 months have passed. On top of that, I called a trusted mechanic who I've been going to for many years and explained what was going on. He quickly pointed out that the problem is unlikely the tie rods on this particular vehicle, and even if the tie rods were bad, that would not create the noise I experience. He spent the day with the car yesterday and said the tie rods are fine, but the problem unfortunately lies in the torque converter/transmission so advised me to go to an authorized dealer to get it checked out and hopefully repaired under warranty. But here's the very worst part! Once I resigned that Automax was simply not going to make good on this situation, I went there to get my vehicle. I asked for printouts of all records relating to every service visit since I bought the car, and waited while they printed them out. I noticed that several were blank and said "record voided" so I then went to my car and compared them to the printouts they actually gave me on the days I had previously visited (which I kept in my glove compartment). It then became shockingly clear that not only had they deleted several key records in their system, but they had actually deleted entire key sections of other records. According to these 6/25 printouts, it looked like I had never been into the service department to complain about a noise problem whatsoever! Lesson learned. They clearly have something big to hide (like a costly fix that they don't want to do while the car's under warranty), and will go to any length to do so. DO NOT buy a car from Automax unless you first take it to a trusted mechanic to have it thoroughly examined, and then DO NOT use Automax for any car service/maintenance. Oh, and by the way...I've yet to hear from the owner, and the manager refuses to return my calls. Shocker. More
DO NOT go to Automax in Framingham. I purchased my car through Automax in Marlborough, staff was all friendly, helpful, and respectful. COMPLETE OPPOSITE in Framingham. One of the managers was incredibly through Automax in Marlborough, staff was all friendly, helpful, and respectful. COMPLETE OPPOSITE in Framingham. One of the managers was incredibly disrespectful and this reflected their facility as a whole. We had signed all documents and made my car purchase at the Automax in Marlborough. We were then directed to the Framingham branch to discuss car loans with one of the managers, I want to say his name was Ray or Paul or something. The manager who we met with to discuss car loans was a huge xxxxxxx; incredibly arrogant, rude and lazy. He belittled my father, who was extensively knowledgable about cars thanks to his father who was a mechanic for 40 years. Still this rude salesmen laughed in my fathers face, forgetting that we are giving his dealership business. Any one in any business with half of a brain should have some capabilities of treating their customers with respect. Automax in Framingham clearly knows nothing of professionalism. I would have given them no stars if it was an option Make sure you go to the Marlborough branch and not Framingham's, you will be much happier with your experience and clear of old, lazy and sleazy car salesmen. I had been looking for a specific color combo for an Infiniti M35x. Automax showed up on AutoTrader with the right car. (I'm in the midwest, the car was in Boston.) But, the price for it's milage w Infiniti M35x. Automax showed up on AutoTrader with the right car. (I'm in the midwest, the car was in Boston.) But, the price for it's milage was much lower than average. I contacted the dealer, they confirmed the car was available. I independly found a local mechanic who performs car inspections, hired him to go check out the car. I called AutoMax and told them the mechanic was on his way. Mechanic was allowed to inspect and road test the vehicle on my behalf. My mechanic confirmed that the car was in excellent mechanical condition and matched the CarFax (no accidents). It did have curb rash on all 4 wheels (thus the low price). I independely hired a trucking company, again AutoMax said 'no problem, it'll be ready when they pick it up'. Car showed up at my house two weeks ago. I had a local shop fix the wheels. It's been great. All of this was done remotely, and AutoMax had no issue with any of that. Even with the shipping and the wheel repair, I saved over $2,000 compared to local cars (which weren't available in the right color combo anyway). More
I have been shopping for a used Lexus for over a month, and had narrowed my selection down to two cars. After leaving the first dealer and arriving at Automax I knew I was in the right place. Friendly staf and had narrowed my selection down to two cars. After leaving the first dealer and arriving at Automax I knew I was in the right place. Friendly staff straight forward deal, full dealership facility. Paperwork was a breeze, no tricks or gimicks and I left the same day with the car. It's been a month now and no problems. I would reccomend this dealer to anyone buying a car. More
My salesmen was great (Randy). He made choosing between the cars easy, had my next car lined up and warmed up by the time I got back with the car I was in. (After testing 2-3 cars with him, let me test alo the cars easy, had my next car lined up and warmed up by the time I got back with the car I was in. (After testing 2-3 cars with him, let me test alone or with Family). I decided on an Audi A4, left on a saturday to return on a monday. They were going to detail it and fix some curb rash. They called monday morning to say it wasn't going to be ready for me to drive out and pick it up. Sucks because I hurried to the bank before work that morning to get the check for them, etc. Ok..what's one more day. One more day comes, I drive almost two hours to get there. Sign everything, get out to the car, which looked great. But.. had a CEL. I walked right back in, asked about it.. said I would drive around the block and see what was happening. The car sputtered, misfired, CEL is now flashing. I'm pissed. I get back in there to find out they can't get any service people in because it's 7pm. Understandable. I had great friends to bring me to the dealership so i could drive home with the car.. now they need to bring me home too because I have no car to drive home. I told the manager this, who then offered me a xxx 2004 Pathfinder with the belts sqeaking so loudly that I said I'd rather go home with my friend, gave him the keys back. Took my plates off the A4, drove home VERY dissapointed. They were going to put the car in the shop first thing today, which ended meaning after 9:30, not 8:00 like they said. By ONE o'clock they have a verdict for me.. and the coilpack in the car is replaced, and it runs great. They're supposed to figuring out who can drive it out here to deliver it. I've gotten no word that it's on it's way yet.. and I've got my friends vehicle at work which will need to be returned when I get the audi. I need to know what's going on, and as usual..there is little contact and I'm left uninformed as to what's going on there. I don't know when my car's going to be here, or if I even want it. Thank god for Mass's buyer protection laws. We'll see how it goes. More

Thr TERRIBLE After making an appointment on a sleepy Sunday morning, the salesman left us wandering around in the cold while he did some paperwork. Three other guys in the showroom say reading the paper and no one would help us. We told them "I'm not sure this is the right place to buy a car" and the saleman AGREED with us. Wow, business must be good for these guys. Best of luck, but proceed with caution. More
It's usually hard to root out a good quality used car and get it for a decent price, but I managed it, and it was easier than I thought. My Sable was pretty much done and I thought it was a good idea to rese get it for a decent price, but I managed it, and it was easier than I thought. My Sable was pretty much done and I thought it was a good idea to research replacements before it died on the road by surprise. I saw a large preowned lot next to a McDonald's where I stopped for a bite so I wandered over. I really wasn't in the market yet, so I thought, but the lineup of quality off-lease cars there gave me plenty of ideas. I discovered they don't start with a price and play games with your head with it; the prices are as good as any others I found, and for the mileage and appearance, I didn't feel like shopping anywhere else. I came back about ten days later after I found their inventory online and saved some time by picking out a couple of favorites on the internet. They made it just unbelievably easy to try one and buy it-- nothing like the horror stories I'd been through in other places. The salesman--I forget his name--was fun and easy to talk to and he was almost a sales clerk, he was so helpful and considerate. He explained the numbers to me so I could understand them, and I did. I had picked out a car they'd just got in, a Nissan Altima, and it was detailed that day while I talked finances with their business manager. I got a good loan rate and they put new plates and a sticker on it for me so I didn't have to wait in any lines for that. That was the next day. I didn't think anyone selling cars would make it easy and relaxing for a nervous type like me, but AutoMax Preowned did it. They're a volume dealership, but they didn't make me feel like I had fly out of there with a car TODAY like other dealerships. I'd like to buy more cars there. I'm really happy to talk up the good experience I had, buying a used car there and getting it delivered fast with a lot of attention to me and other details. I'm bringing it back when I can for service. They seem cheaper and more helpful than other places I've been. More
