A I would not recommend this dealer to anyone. We made an agreement to purchase a car. They faxed my bank the purchase and sales agreement at 7 p.m. . At 8 a.m. the next morning my bank received the agreement. They reviewed it and at 4 p.m. the same day approved it. I contacted expressma and told them my bank approved financing for the vehicle. One hour later they contacted me back and informed me they sold the vehicle to someone else. This is a very unprofessional and dishonest way to run a business. They wasted a lot of my time as well as my Banks time. The price on the vehicle was almost too good to be true which in retrospect is leading me to believe there may have been issues with the vehicle that were not disclosed. More
Tough analysis... but ALL true. My wife found a VW Touareg (SUV) that had been advertised online being sold by Auto Sales Express. Even though I HATED the thought of buying a car from a retail dealer, I read the other Google Reviews and had to admit I was pretty impressed. Skeptical... but impressed! We live in Swampscott so it was a lonnnnnng drive to Whitman but off we went. I have to admit, it was partially to shut her up about it. (i know, sad but true. Lol). We got to their dealership and the lot was packed with high end cars. They definitely had an impressive inventory of cars. I was all set to meet Eugene when Alex introduced himself and said Eugene was taking a day off to spend with his family. Even though I had mentally prepared to meet and negotiate with Eugene, Alex was obviously smart, knew what he was talking about. To be honest, the car business is a time consuming business and I was glad Eugene was spending the day with his wife and family. My wife was even more impressed than me. She pointed out how clean the cars were and how much she liked that Alex was low key. I had to agree but still didn't expect we would actually purchase a car from them. She wanted the Touareg but I convinced her to look at and drive an X3. "I HATE BMW's" .... was her response but I convinced her to JUST drive it before she decided. Wellllll... even though she ONLY did it to please me, she drove it and loved it... and now SHE WANTED IT. Ugh!! The X3 was a 2006 and had 105,000 (!!!!!!!!!) miles on it.... and this went against EVERYTHING I would normally do. Yes, the car was very clean and seemed to be in excellent condition for having that many miles on it but now I was stuck. I was going to have to buy this car. I tried to negotiate and yes, they did come down a little on the price... but not nearly as much as i wanted or had hoped. I even told them I was paying CASH which didn't really change the price much. In hindsight, I thought the price was fair but it wasn't the cheap deal i had hoped for. But here is where a 'good' deal turned into a MUCH greater deal. AFTER YOU PAY THE MONEY you see the TRUE character of someone. We had a 30 day warranty but I'm used to the "sorry that's not covered" story but I can proudly say that did NOT happen with these guys. To be perfectly honest, they even fixed a few things that were specifically NOT on the list of items covered... and I didn't have to convince them or talk them into it. They just cheerfully did it. All in all, I believe these guys to be of the very highest integrity. I would send my mother or sister to them WITHOUT feeling the need to be with them for fear of them being taken advantage of. Auto Sales Express in Whitman is a special place and owned by a very unique man with very high integrity. Eugene, Alex and the rest of the staff are pretty unusual and I give this place my highest recommendation. On a side note... for almost 20 years I've been a business consultant by profession so beeeeeeeeelieve me, i wouldn't give this kind of review unless it was true. I get paid to notice details and from what I can see, this is the right place to purchase a car. I couldn't have been more pleased with our transaction... and those are words I don't say very often. LESSONS LEARNED I purchased a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg with 60,000 miles on it from Auto Sales Express in Whitman, MA 02382 in January of 2016. The owner/sales person I purchased a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg with 60,000 miles on it from Auto Sales Express in Whitman, MA 02382 in January of 2016. The owner/sales person was very accommodating and seemed like an honest person. The two main reasons I bought this car at Auto Sales Express was their price and what the owner had told me “I stand behind my vehicles 100%”. Well it wasn’t long after the purchase of my vehicle from Auto Sales Express when things started to go wrong. The first was wind noise which turned out to be a cracked window. Second was the radio not getting any reception, there was static on every station. The third was broken clips on the door side molding. The forth was the engine light after the 60 day warranty. The fifth was a broken tire pump found while changing a flat tire. No tire pump left me stranded on the highway for a few hours waiting for AAA. I soon realized that “I stand behind my vehicles 100%” was fiction. The first time I brought the vehicle in to fix the wind noise, molding and radio static. The windshield was replaced and the molding was super glued. On the radio I was also told by the owner that he had his GPS person look at the radio and everything was fine. The second time I brought the vehicle in was for two of the same reasons I had the first time. The molding came apart because the glue didn’t hold, no surprise there. Really, and the radio static still the same. My disappointment kept growing with this dealership. It turns out the radio was not the original VW radio. I checked online and at a VW dealership to find out that it would cost over $1500.00 to have an original radio installed. The radio at some point was replaced with a cheaper unknown brand at some point. After my continued pursuit finally the owner said for me to go to best buy and pick out a radio of choice. I found a good replacement for around $750.00, still no comparison to the original. I sent all the info to owner and he said that's too much. Funny thing is the owner never would answer me when I asked what happen to the original radio, I still have the same cheaper radio. The owner actually said after taking the vehicle for a test ride himself that the radio was fine and only static around telephone wires. Where can you drive where there are no wires. So in other words there is no way this radio will ever work properly. The big problem came just after the 60 day warranty, the engine light came on. I called the owner and he said it was because of the gas I was using and that I needed to get a complete tune up and replace all plugs, coils, etc. So now after paying good money for my car I still needed to put another $1000.00 plus into the vehicle for a tune up. The owner said that’s what you get when you buy used vehicle, you have to tune it up. BIG Lesson learned the hard way, no tune-up performed or covered on used cars from Auto Sales Express. I brought the car into a VW dealer, Commonwealth Motors and had a complete diagnostics, it turns out the cylinder head is cracked and the repair would be over $8000.00 dollars. At this point you can just imagine how distressed I am. I contacted the owner at Auto Sales Express and told him at this point I wanted my money back and return the car. The owner then went on to say it was my fault for not using premium gas, I thought this is just nonsense how can that be I said. The VW dealer (Commonwealth Motors) told me that gas type would never cause this and that head was cracked long before I purchased it. At this point I mentioned to the owner of Auto Sales Express that I was going to consider hiring a lawyer if he didn’t comply and allow me to return the car or pay for the cost of the repairs. The owner's exact words, “I got more money and power than you so go ahead and try, you will lose”. More
Best second hand dealership! Second hand car buying doesn't get any better than this place! If you drive one of his cars, you will NOT be able to buy a car from another place EVER Second hand car buying doesn't get any better than this place! If you drive one of his cars, you will NOT be able to buy a car from another place EVER again. I was on the market for a very specific vehicle 2008-2009 VW Touareg 2. I am very particular for my cars and I notice the finest of details (might actually be a bad thing for me). Eugene offers no pressure approach for car selling. His cars are the FINEST on the market. I went to test drive one Touareg, i was left alone to look at the car, then took it for a test drive. He was waiting in the office for me the entire time, no pressure. I went and asked for a discount. He explained that his prices are non-negotiable. I was planning to apply the old tactic of leaving and hoping he will come down chasing me with a better price. When i called next day the car was sold. His cars are conditioned and restored to almost factory condition. There is a lot of interest, that is why the whole car buying experience is so relaxed. I was very disappointed that I missed that car. He told be that he has another one coming with even more options. I told him to save it for me even without seeing it. After 3 weeks he called me and I went back. He had prepared the other car to the same level as the previous. He had replaced the steering wheel, since it had some signs of wear, all brand new brakes. Steam wash on the inside, buffing on the outside. He also brought the car for me to VW dealer. I wanted to have a second opinion. Couple of minor remarks, which he fixed within days. Last Saturday I picked up the vehicle. Registered, inspected and waiting for me. I asked him for extended warranty, he showed me the options, and never brought the topic again. Never tried to push me to a policy. No scary repair tactics etc. I am truly pleased by the vehicles (both the one I missed and the one I bought), the service and the total experience. I strongly recommend this dealer. Whenever I am back on the market I will start my search from here. More
