Poor Maintenance/Insepection on vehicle before purchase Recently bought a 2003 Volkswagen Passat with a three year warranty, within two weeks, there was transmission problems. (Covered by warranty). Soon af Recently bought a 2003 Volkswagen Passat with a three year warranty, within two weeks, there was transmission problems. (Covered by warranty). Soon after, the same problem occurred, which was supposedly not covered by the warranty and was quite expensive. Was told sparkplugs and wires needed to be replaced - expensive. Then the same problem occurred again with popping sounds and the check engine light, and difficulty during acceleration. Took the car on Bill Hudgins advice to Auto Haus in Yorktown. There turned out to be nothing wrong with the sparkplugs and wires, but someone had conveniently switched the plugs and wires, which is difficult without mechanical knoweledge, causing a misfire. Auto Haus fixed this problem, and as any good car dealer should, ran an entire car inspection, which Auto Max obviously did not do. The engine mounts per their inspection were severely deteriorated, and the engine could have fallen out. Cost $800. and was once again not covered by the warranty. Engine leak, heads and everything have to come out to fix. Once again, not covered by warranty. A total of $2300, after the other costs, these problems should have been noted by Auto Max. This car was bought for my 16 year old granddaughter as her first car, she was scared to death to drive it, as the car was dangerous. Stalled at traffic lights due to the plugs (was an automatic) and would die going down the road upon acceleration. They could get somebody killed. After talking to them this afternoon, I was refused assistance and hung up on. Took my money and laughed. I will report this to the Better Buisness Beaurea. These people are dangerous. More
