Found a 2015 Kia soul at Econo Corner. Had a check engine light, problem was an engine defect. They demanded I pay for the car BEFORE they would fix it, but assured me that if for some reason it couldn’t be fixed, they’d refund my money. I paid for it, in cash, on Friday night. Monday afternoon salesman assures me the engine repair is 100% covered by Kia. Tuesday afternoon the Auffenberg Kia service department tells me the engine will need to be replaced and the manufacturer will not cover it under warranty. I call Econo Corner two find out if that’s really true and get my refund if it is. Sales manager says yes, I will have to pay $4600 over and above the $7200. I already paid if I want the car I say I want my refund.. sales manager calls me back the next day trying to talk me into paying $2500 and they will cover the rest of the engine. I say no, I just want my refund. So I was a manager calls me the day after that to ask if I will pay just $1000 extra and they’ll cover the rest. Again, I demand my refund. I did eventually get my money refunded. I feel that the entire transaction was shady and that the Econo Corner staff were deceptive in their dealings with me. It makes no sense that a new engine cost $4600, but somehow they could put a new engine in, only have me pay $1000 of that, and still make a profit selling me the car. That made me feel that they were just continuing to try to trick me. Will never do business with Econo Corner or the Offenburg dealerships again. More

More interesting still is the "Econo Lot" at the very corner of Illinois and Belt. Specializing in budget cars, this was exactly what I needed for a reliable used car for my mom. I am a meticulous searcher - and every car with a lot of miles has its own unique story to tell - but Mike "Wheels" Wheeler humored my search, answered all my questions with precision AND humor, and ultimately helped us with the sale of a used Honda CR-V. It's clear that Mike is important to Auffenberg, and he was central to my excellent experience in buying this car. I'd buy a car from Mike again in a heartbeat. More

I have purchased a car from this location few months ago. The purchase went great. I was offered a free one-time maintenance (oil change and tire rotation). After one month, engine light came on, and they were ok to fixed for free. Two weeks later, the engine light back on, and it was same issue. I contacted them, they said yes. And they never told me to bring the car over to fix. I texted him two weeks ago, never got back with me. Before that, took my car for the maintenance, they only did oil change not tire rotation, when i contacted him, he said sorry we forgot. even though the email I received from them to confirm the appointment, said tire rotation and oil change. They even sold me the car higher than any other place, but i took it because we needed a car for my family. I don't recommend this place at all. More
We purchased a used Nissan Rogue on Thursday 1/9. We made an appointment online and received no directions on which facility to go to, or which salesperson to contact. We went to three different buildings and when we finally got the correct one, no one seemed to know we were coming and there was confusion about who would serve us. The vehicles we specifically came to see were at another facility 15 minutes away, and one of them had unrepaired body damage and the engine died during the test drive...four times. While test driving the Rogue, a warning light came on and the dealership promised to resolve it prior to picking up the vehicle on the follow day (Friday 1/10). There was a snowstorm on 1/10, so no one came in to work, which is understandable. We were assured the car would be ready the evening of Monday 1/13. We communicated that we would be picking it up at 5pm. The salesman did not tell the service department this and left for the day...we showed up to find that the car was not ready, nor were they aware we were coming. We drove 90 miles round trip for no car. It is now Wednesday 1/15 and the car still is not ready. They have cashed my check. The communication from the salesman to us and between the salesman and service has been extremely poor and would be nonexistent if we were not checking daily. They have not proactively contacted us about anything. I will be cautioning all of my friends to not buy from Auffenberg. More
The salespeople at Auffenburg’s used car dealership definitely have a lot to learn. The first time I met anyone, they were cussing, talking about female body parts, smoking weed, etc. They got me into the car I was looking at, but failed to inform me about some things I feel should have been mentioned and tried to make me feel like I was being irrational when I brought them up. The car required service before even a week had passed, and the sales manager said he doesn’t have any control over what his sales people tell customers they can offer “out of their own pockets”. We will not be returning to Auffenberg, and we will be making sure our contacts know about the issues we’ve had. More
