The beginning of the sales process was pretty good. Then it devolved into typical shady sales tactics and the after sales care was terrible. Saw a car on their website that I was interested in. Called them the next morning as soon as they opened and spoke with Jeff that let him know that if it was still available I would be there within the hour to purchase the car. He stated that it was available and they would have it ready for me. I arrived and asked for Jeff, learned he was the manager and turned me over to Saul on the sales side. Saw and drove the car, liked it, informed that this would be a track car for me and I wanted to buy it but didn't want an extended warranty or extras (since it was going to be a track car), offered them a price on the car, they accepted. This is where the experience turned poor. I came back to sign paperwork and noticed they had added a $400 non-negotiable VIN etch fee on my final paperwork. This had never been disclosed at any point previously, and I stated that I didn't want it. They told me it was required but they would call Jeff to let him know that I didn't want it. The finance person called Jeff while I was sitting in his office and I could hear Jeff through the phone tell the finance person - "absolutely not, we already took some money off the car, I'm not going to undercut you during your finance process" - implying that he was doing him a favor by making the VIN etch mandatory. I then said that this was an extremely shady way to add that fee into the deal and asked if it was a "take it or leave the car" type situation. The finance person told me that it was. I wanted the car, so I accepted the fee begrudgingly. Okay whatever, $400 dollars isn't the end of the world. It gets even worse. I get home and realize the car has locking lug nuts on it, and can't get the wheels off as the dealership or previous owner lost the lug key. I tried for several days to get in touch with Jeff and Saul to find a way to get those lug nuts off. Getting a response from Saul was like pulling teeth. Very similar experience with getting in touch with Jeff. I actually got better answers by calling the sales department and speaking with other sales people who I had never worked it. Ultimately, I finally just called Porsche Salt Lake - explained the situation, and they offered to take care of me free of charge. I have nothing good to say about Audi Salt Lake, and nothing but good things to say about Porsche Salt Lake. If you are like me, and buy a lot of cars, the choice between these two dealerships is very clear. Stay away from Audi Salt Lake and their borderline deceptive practices More
