No Over-Selling I took my 2009 A4 in for a 95,000 service and because the convertible top was coming loose from the back window. The bad news was that there was no w I took my 2009 A4 in for a 95,000 service and because the convertible top was coming loose from the back window. The bad news was that there was no way to repair it; it required a new top costing almost $6000. When I groaned at that news, my service advisor, Bob Borchers, said he wouldn't blame me if I didn't replace it, and that if I could put up with some noise from the flapping and kept it in a garage, I could get away with not replacing it. I had mentioned that my husband had tried to glue the fabric to the back window with Gorilla Glue which did not hold, and Bob joked that maybe we could try the Gorilla Glue again! On my way home from the service appointment, my "Check Engine" light came on. They got me in the next morning, and within an hour or so informed me that there was an 80% chance that the turbo cut-off valve needed replacement at a $434 cost, and a 20% chance that I needed to replace the whole turbo at a cost of $4000 (leading to another groan). Bob explained that as long as I wasn't "racing" the car, I wouldn't even notice if the valve wasn't replaced. So once again, he was very honest with me and did not try to sell services that I didn't really need. The service department also provides a very welcoming space with tv, internet access, and magazines, as well as some snacks, coffee, and cold beverages. If you choose to wait while service is being done, your time can still be productive and enjoyable. More
