I bought a decent used car at a decent price...nothing to complain about there. Salesmen was nice, but pulled all the old tricks which made me feel insulted at times. He tried to explain to me what a deal I complain about there. Salesmen was nice, but pulled all the old tricks which made me feel insulted at times. He tried to explain to me what a deal I was getting and how they wouldn't be making any money off me. Easy for him to say that when he assumed I'd be financing atleast 90% of the car at an outrageous rate. When he learned I was going to pay cash for 90% of the vehical, he tried to convince me that I would be better off investing that money in the stock market. Look, if you got a good CD, you may break even with an autoloan (7%)....if you invest in the stock market for 3 years....you are gambling! Sure, over time it averages 12%, but we're talking trying to beat the odds on a 3 year auto loan. If it was as easy to beat the car loan as the salemen said it was, wouldn't everyone be in the stock market and out of the car loan business? Think about it! Its not worth the risk over a used Chevy Malibu! Don't misunderstand me, I don't blame him for trying to push his product ......but after I explicity stated what I wanted to do, he persisted and they ganged up on me by getting the "finance manager" to give me advice. It got to a point where I felt insulted that they'd tell me bold face lies about my money. They got even more angry when I refused to pay a jacked up price for an "extended warrenty" (which can be purchased online for 40% of their price). The sales guy asked me "what will you do when it breaks down on you next summer?" Wow...I thought 10 minutes ago this was a great car that will be soooooo dependable. Don't feel pressured to buy one right then and there....take your time and shop around....you can buy one later! Financing and warrenties is where they make their killing, its funny how their attitude changes when they know they won't be taking you to the cleaners. Not all dealerships are like this. Some of them respect your wishes enough to back off - especially when they sense that you know what you are doing! Be prepared when you go swimming with these sharks! I won't go back there, simply because they made the car buying process painful. I know what I wanted and how I wanted to pay for it, and they just couldn't accept an informed consumer! More
