We bought an Odyssey from them. When we were talking to the sales guy he asked us to sign on a blank piece of paper. I asked "what for?" he said to state our intention to buy a car!! We already felt uncomf the sales guy he asked us to sign on a blank piece of paper. I asked "what for?" he said to state our intention to buy a car!! We already felt uncomfortable and didn't sign. As we have just moved to the US we never have credit history so we believe we need to buy the car with cash. Since we just moved from oversea we really needed a car so we decided to take the car but we had to wait one week for the money to get transferred from Europe. They asked us to signed the buying contract which was done on Jan 20 in order for them to keep the car for us until we get money. Jan 27 we took delivery of the car. We got 30 days warranty or 1000 miles. We didn't know about the 1000 miles which is our own mistake as we didn't check the TRUE mileage and they simply put the mileage recorded on Jan 2 when the car was inspected (25 days before delivery of the car) also the delivery date on it was Jan 20. We asked them to make correction the guy said don't worry about it we know you we will fix it for you. (I knew I shouldn't believe that!! but we were tired of all this car buying as we have 2 years old girl with us all the time and want to just get it done) 2 weeks later the car has problem with the sliding door.. it took them 1 week to get it fixed. 5 days after we got the car back the transmission failed. They said it cost 4,500 to get it fixed!!!! They said the car was driven 1,100 miles and already exceed the warranty which they calculate based on the mileage read on Jan 2 and not when the car was delivered which is 25 days later!! I spoke to the sales manager who kept lying that he will do this and do that to help us and he will get back to me. He NEVER call me even once. I called him 8 times within 1 week and finally got to talk to him. He didn't do anything at all. He kept lying and sweet talk. They don't take any responsibility at all. I BELIEVE THEY REALLY CHEAT US TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO CAME FROM OVERSEA NOT KNOWING THEIR TRICK.. COME WITH CASH..THEY SELL OFF..AND KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER. THEY WASTED OUR TIME, ENERGY, FEELING, AND MONEY. More
I wanted to purchase a Toyota Prius last July, when the demand was at a peak. Because the demand was so great and inventories low, I ordered the car. I put down a deposit and signed an agreement to buy the demand was at a peak. Because the demand was so great and inventories low, I ordered the car. I put down a deposit and signed an agreement to buy the car for an agreed upon price ($23,909) which happened to be the MSRP. Five weeks later when the car came in and I went to pick it up, they told me I must now pay $24,309, as the MSRP had gone up. They completely disregarded the fact that we had a signed agreement showing the $23,909 price. Having no other vehicle, and no time to start the ordering process over with a new dealer, I paid them. I filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. Their mediator made several attempts to contact Antwerpen, but Antwerpen just blew them off. The mediator had no enforcement authority, and ultimately could do no more than give me a brochure for small claims court. This dealer cheats people, and then just ignores anyone who tries to force them to be honest and ethical. They are a disgrace. More
I brought my Camry to Antwerpen Toyota for the 90K mile service. Here is a summary of my experience: Customer relations: - They quoted me 4 different prices for the 90K service: $399, $429, $427, and service. Here is a summary of my experience: Customer relations: - They quoted me 4 different prices for the 90K service: $399, $429, $427, and $499. I feel uncomfortable already. - Tried to sell me spark plugs, even though they were changed recently - Tried to sell me new tires, with nothing wrong with my current ones, which were only 6 months old and cost me $600 for 4 - Tried to "cut" my front rotors for $210- Firestone does it for $115; then gave me the excuse that "Well, we are Toyota trained technicians..." Give me a break!! My daughter could cut rotors- gimme the machine! This is NOT a Toyota-unique part which requires special Toyota training. - Tried to sell me a timing belt and water pump, even though they admitted nothing was observably wrong, and even after I informed them that this service was already performed at the 60K mile service. Timing: - They told me my car would be ready after 2 hours. Now it's 28 hours later, and my car is still not finished. - told me that they had the parts in stock before they sent me on my way with a rental. Then they called me and told me that they will have the parts in stock in the morning. - They told me my car would be done that next morning. When I called them at lunch the next day, they said the "work was in progress". What gives?? Not a pleasant experience thus far. More
We have never been treated so poorly at any dealership except at Antwerpen Toyota. We bought 2 new cars from them and supposedly are their valued customers. However, when it comes time for some customer except at Antwerpen Toyota. We bought 2 new cars from them and supposedly are their valued customers. However, when it comes time for some customer service they treat us like dirt. Recently our 2007 Sienna that we bought one year ago from that dealer just had spontaneous window shattering when stopped in an indoor garage. We didn’t hit anything and there was nothing throwing at the car. There were two other persons in the garage that witnessed what happened. When we called the Antwerpen Toyota and brought the van to the dealership they basically told us the breakage of the window was caused by some object and it won’t be covered under the warranty. They basically ignored the fact and denied the legit claim. The customer relation manager -Eric McKings, was especially rude and even implied we commit insurance fraud. He played all tricks to prevent us from meeting Toyota representative (that has to be arranged through him). Needless to say we will never go to that dealership again. More
This service depeartment really needs to clean up its act, beginning with the dismal, uncomfortable and crowded waiting area. Right after I purchased my vehicle, I brought it in to have the satellite rad act, beginning with the dismal, uncomfortable and crowded waiting area. Right after I purchased my vehicle, I brought it in to have the satellite radio installed. i had been given the name of the Service Mgr. by my salesman, who was very good, compared to some other reviews I've seen. The mrg. was rude and indifferent. It took me well over 35 minutes to get a loaner car. They had one person who was doing everything manually!! They seem to be technology deficient at this dealership. My second experience was no better. I asked about a carwash and was told it would add 2 hours to my wait time! A simple, "No, we don't accomodate our customers with carwashes." would have been more honest. Although I purchased my car there and it's very close to my home, I'm looking for another Toyota Service Dept. that understands service. More
I've never been treated so poorly in my life. I told the salesman going in that I don't like pushy, and don't try to BS me either. He stated that he'd never try such tactics, and then told me how foolish I salesman going in that I don't like pushy, and don't try to BS me either. He stated that he'd never try such tactics, and then told me how foolish I'd be to look at any other vehicle than the one he was showing. He badgered me with phone calls, had his manager call me, and misrepresented (read: lied) about the personnel. I wouldn't care if Jack said yes to kissing my butt... I'LL NEVER BUY FROM ANTWERPEN and I'll tell anybody who'll listen to avoid the dealership like the plague. More
We almost bought a Prius from here. They are fantastic cars--though a little pricey, but that's something I could live with if I bought one from a dealer I liked. One of our friends has one and LOVES it, cars--though a little pricey, but that's something I could live with if I bought one from a dealer I liked. One of our friends has one and LOVES it, and I'm into new technology. While the dealer we worked with seemed like a nice guy who knew his cars, he was very VERY pushy. Some may say it's a car dealer's job to be pushy, but calling someone 9 times in a row without leaving a message is harassment. Besides, why would you have to harass someone into buying a car which should sell itself? Another thing he did which really ticked me off is he talked to my husband the entire time instead of me--even though it was going to be MY CAR paid with MY MONEY. Still, the Prius gets fab reviews & I heard awesome things about Antwerpen's service dept from our friend (though I'm not impressed with the reviews here nor their stupid "free manicure" on Tuesdays campaign--they should just treat women like equals if they want us to buy from them) so I made the mistake of hanging around to financing. When the finance director tried to cram a $2K extended warrantee on us (a good car shouldn't NEED an extended warrantee--but Prius are new technology with a mere 3 yr bumper-to-bumper)--I was less than impressed. He then told us he didn't think he could match a rate I researched (he hadn't even ran a credit check yet), & he then blabbed about how we should buy the service plan and that he spends $100 to have oil changed on his BMW. At this point, we decided it was time to leave. Well, I ended up buying a VW from Laurel. The dealer we purchased from was very easy-going and polite, and we ended up getting an interest rate 2% BELOW the excellent one we got from the bank. When I called back to tell the Antwerpen dealer I wasn't buying a Prius he was rude. I tried to politely tell him I appreciated his time and would would recommend him to other ppl interested in Toyotas in the future (NOT NOW), but he talked over me and told me I made a bad choice. This was a very different experience than what we had with a Honda dealership off the same road. Their dealer was VERY polite, easy-going, and gracious even though I turned him down, too (not his fault--my heart just wasn't into the Civic--though it is a SWEET car for the money). My husband will be buying a new Japanese car next year--guess where he will (and will not) be buying it from? More
This is interesting review by jonnie5. Let me add my 2 previous experiences with this delearship. The first time I went to get my Camry serviced here, I had the same b.s. story handed to me. Fortunately previous experiences with this delearship. The first time I went to get my Camry serviced here, I had the same b.s. story handed to me. Fortunately my dad knew a lot about cars and told me never to go there again. My second run in was when I stopped in to buy some oil filters. The employee in the parts dept insulted me with some racial slang terms. I then reported to the manager on duty and he basically took no action against employee. I then reported this incident to the manager of the establishment and he promptly took care of the employess involved. NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALER!! More
Took the car in to get the alignment fixed at 9AM. At 3 the service manager calls me and begins to recite a laundry list of problems with the car. Water pump, oil pump, belts, fluids, brakes, cv boots....t the service manager calls me and begins to recite a laundry list of problems with the car. Water pump, oil pump, belts, fluids, brakes, cv boots....the list went on and on. I know a little about cars and there was NOTHING wrong with it except the alignment was off. After he finished, I started laughing at him on the phone. I said, dont touch the car, I'll be over to pick it up in 15 minutes. Stay away from this dealership for service, obviously theyre crooks.
