Purchased a 2009 Matrix S from these clowns in Jan 09. Purchased after market stain-protector for car. Simple H2O stained seats with stain-protector on it. Took dealership and Zylon TWO MONTHS to apply, reapply, remove, reapply again, make entire interior sticky, then just give us new leather seats. All the while, I'm dropping off/picking up car at least once a week. Door & window control panel on drivers side door became loose. Dropped bucket of bolts off for repair. Service called me to pickup, stating they fixed the problem. Picked up car (this is last winter, so Feb/Mar of 2009). Panel still loose. xxxxxx in service tells me "The cold weather probably knocked it loose". Yeah, that MUST be it. Dropped car off again later in week. Picked up car and drove away. Two lights away, panel falls off, AGAIN! Drive back, state my frustration, they take car and order a whole new panel. Finally replaced. Three weeks for one repair. Car involved in THREE recalls in less than 1.5 years! Attempted to drop off car on Monday b/c TWO panels have fallen off car. Found out Toyota has SOLD all their lender cars. They do offer a rental via Enterprise for $35. SCREW YOU Antwerpen. I have been lied to. You have misled me. You have not told me the entire truth. Your staff is just awful with communication between each other. One more thing goes wrong and I will find an attorney and use the Maryland Lemon Law to force you to take this xxx back. I hate you. We looked at a veh online and spoke w/ Bill Shuey who promised the vehicle to be in excellent condition, and that the higher price was due to that fact and they would not budge on the price. I then spec promised the vehicle to be in excellent condition, and that the higher price was due to that fact and they would not budge on the price. I then specifically asked if the owner was a smoker to avoid waisting a 3 hour round trip and was told it was a non-smoker's vehicle. We arrived and dealt with another salesman as the one I had been dealing with was "on a test drive". The minute we opened the door to the vehicle, my wife and I could immediately tell it was a smoker's vehicle. There was ash in the ashtray and the cigarette lighter had been used to light cigaretts. I informed the new salesman of my disappointment and agravation having just waisted a 1 1/2 hour trip on Shuey's word. The Manager did agree to fill our vehicle with gas for the trouble, but then almost as an insult, offered to drop the price $500, making me laugh. This vehicle was $3-4 thousand over the Kelley Blue book and NADA for a vehicle in Average condition. Aside from being misled about the smoking, the vehicle also had normal wear for a used car, but was being portrayed as in excellent condition. Waste of time, and I would personnally direct others away from a dealership whose salesman portray dishonesty from the start of the relationsip. More
NOBODY should purchase from this dealer! They are full of lies and deception. I inquired online about a new Highlander that I was going to surprise my wife with. They had a bunch of Highlander's on their lies and deception. I inquired online about a new Highlander that I was going to surprise my wife with. They had a bunch of Highlander's on their website that interested me so I made an appointment to visit. When I got there, it turned out that none of the Limited models that I was interested in were there. I can understand if one or two were sold the day before and it hadn't been updated, but there were 6 of them with prices and everything that did not even exist in the first place. The saleswoman was very rude and abrasive insisting that I take a look at a lesser model while I was there. When I politely said no, they offered to get one from another dealer but insisted that I do all the paperwork on it first and sign all of the contracts. When I expressed that I did not feel confortable doing that, the woman said that I was not serious about buying a car then. I promptly left and bought the car at another local dealer that day. Antwerpen is filled with rude staff and managers and the facility is in desperate need of a cleaning! I will never step foot in that store again, and I recommend to all that noone else does either! Went shopping for a 2010 Prius. As soon as we parked the car we had a salesman running up to us. After looking over the limited inventory they had (one color available in the model we were interested in) w car we had a salesman running up to us. After looking over the limited inventory they had (one color available in the model we were interested in) we sat down to talk pricing and before we even started I was put a piece of paper in front of me saying to sign this stating that I would agree to buy if we reached a deal today. Im not sure how this is normally done but I personally feel uneasy signing anything unless I have a chance to agree on terms/ pricing, etc. We refused to sign but continued to try to work out a price. Also asked about state of Toyota recall's. Were assured that recalls were no big deal, Toyota was selling more cars now because of the publicity, and they had only heard of the floormats (we actually informed them of the most recent recall because they said they had never heard of it). When I know more about a Toyota from reading the news than a salesman it doesn't make me feel very comfortable with whatever they are telling me about the car and company. Of the 2 hours we were there, we maybe spent 15 minutes talking to our salesman. The rest of the time was spent waiting as he ran off to talk to sales manager. Finally sales manager ended up coming over. He explained to us that we were being unreasonable with our price because our trade in was (essentially) and hunk of junk and that it didn't make sense that we were concerned about the recalls because there was never anything wrong with any of the Toyota's but that the recall mess is a conspiracy by Obama administration to get Toyota back for making so much money on Clunkers incentive over the summer. While I appreciated having their political views dumped at me, we excused ourselves and left the dealer. We ended up going to Russell the same day and driving home in a new Prius. Should have gone there in the first place. More
LET ME FIRST SAY THAT, BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, I'M SHOCKED AT THE RATING OF THIS DEALERSHIP. I'd purchased my last 3-4 cars from Carmax and believed myself to be a lifetime Carmax customer - until th SHOCKED AT THE RATING OF THIS DEALERSHIP. I'd purchased my last 3-4 cars from Carmax and believed myself to be a lifetime Carmax customer - until this last experience. A friend told me that Costco had a car buying service, as does my Credit Untion, so I looked into the one at Costco. They put you in touch with a dealer, in this case, Beltway Toyota, whom I'd been working with for the past month. I had a 2007 Camry Hybrid and I wanted a 2010 Camry Hybrid (I love my car) - but I got an itch to buy a new car. Anyway, when, after a month, Beltway toyota told me that they couldn't get me the car I wanted in the color I wanted - because they were slowing down production of the 2010's to get ready for making the 2011's. My husband searched the internet that day and found the exact car I wanted, with the exact specs I wanted for an internet price LOWER than the price that Carmax or Beltway Toyota were going to sell the car for. Prior to going to Antwerpen, I got an offer from "We Buy Cars" - so I had something to work with. When we went to Antwerpen and my trade in offer was $1000 lower than what I'd been offered at We Buy Cars, I was hoping that the financing would make up the difference and I said so. Our salesman asked if there was a problem, and when we told him that I'd just been offered $1000 more from another place, he asked what I needed to keep sitting there at Antwerpen. I said to meet, or beat, the other offer. Without blinking, they beat the offer from We Buy Cars. And their financing was lower than my Credit Union's. The whole experience was fantastic and there was none of the normal BS that you experience at a dealership. I would DEFINITELY recommend Antwerpen to anyone wanting to buy a Toyota! More
Despite the hype of their television ads, Jack Antwerpen really does say "yes" to every deal. I did an Internet inquiry with several local dealers for a 2010 Camry Hybrid. I quoted my price, and not only wa really does say "yes" to every deal. I did an Internet inquiry with several local dealers for a 2010 Camry Hybrid. I quoted my price, and not only was Antwerpen the only dealer to meet my price, they beat my price. The entire sales experience, including the Salesman, Frank Schmidt, the Finance Manager Scott and the Internet Director, Conrad was pleasant from beginning to end. No pressure sales, no unknown dealer prep charges, no hassles. In 35 years of buying cars, my experience at Antwerpen was hands down the best and most professional car buying experience I've ever had. More
I am driving my Venza for more then a week now, it was ordered from Antwerpen Toyota and I would like to share my experience with this dealership. We visited this website when our car was already ordered ordered from Antwerpen Toyota and I would like to share my experience with this dealership. We visited this website when our car was already ordered from Antwerpen and we became very much concerned about our business with them as the previous reviews were alarming. However, now I can say that we have not experienced none of the unpleasant things mentioned in the previous reviews and I cannot describe our experience in any other words as simply EXCELLENT, therefore I rate them accordingly. Below are the reasons: First, they are the most credible, flexible and straightforward dealership in the area, sorry but this is my impression after approaching other major dealerships in the area. Before deciding with which dealership we will proceed we contacted Alexandria Toyota, Koons Toyota, Darcars Toyota. And there have to be strong reasons why at the end of the day we decided that Antwerpen, dealership which is 30 miles away from where we live, whereas the other dealerships are within 5-10 miles range, is the one with whom we will work. Before approaching the dealership we made a decision on what car exactly we want: options, packages, color, engine, etc. Therefore we simply asked the dealerships for how much and within which time frame they can deliver this car. While other dealerships were upsetting me enormously by their constant calls, which simply wasted my time and money as their key goal seemed to be getting me into their dealership but not to provide me the information I really need. They were working for themselves, but not for Toyota or me. Actually my impression was that some of those people have no idea what are they actually selling. Their claimed that the smallest engine for Venza is 3.5 litre (nonsense I heard in Koons). The guy also said that it is not worth to pay for the leather package as it will be much cheaper to get it custom done somewhere in town. I relate this to a fact that they had no car with leather package on their stock and were to lazy to order it or wanted to get their commissions for the deal ASAP. Some of them could not explain how the AWD system works (is it 4 wheel drive all the time or only as needed). Sales agent from Darcars insisted that Toyota will not make the car like we want as some of the packages must come together that is if we want navigation package me must order fully loaded car. In return to our inquiry sales agent from Alexandria Toyota called us and said that the price for the car we want will be something like 28.800 (good deal I thought), they promised to send us this proposal via email so that we could review it also promised to come and pick us up within an hour. I spend half a day waiting to hear from them, the sales agent was not returning to my calls. After I finally got to hear she said that she was busy with other customer! The next day I received their proposal to my email and learned that this offer is without half of the options I indicated as “must be”… Antwerpen gave me swift response, with the list of options and the price, time frame of the expected delivery. If they could not answer some of our questions, they would rather check it before saying something. I liked that I was essentially communicating with one person, who was responsible for my order and was addressing our concerns. Whereas experience with some other dealerships was that first the sales agent will call you (sometimes unable to answer some basic questions), then you will receive call from customer relations asking how was your experience with the sales agent, then the third guy will call you to clarify the details of your order. Wouldn’t it be more practical to hire competent people in the first place? Second, Antwerpen’s price was the most competitive, whereas other dealerships (notably Darcars) described it as impossible. Third, they were honest in delivering on their promises and in their communication in general. We paid the price, which was agreed and there were no any extra fees hidden or etc. whereas the other competitors (I prefer better not to mention them) unable to compete fairly were spreading ugly gossips that this company fools their customers and never delivers on their promises, they were also saying that this company has financial difficulties and etc. We shared these concerns with Antwerpen and general sales manager Cris Taylor called us to assure that we should not be concerned about these things. Due to his personal involvement our car was delivered two weeks after it was ordered (usually it takes 6 weeks for a specialized order!). He welcomed us personally then we got to Antwerpen to pick up the car. To summarize: when jack says yes you definitely pay less, especially when you know what you want and are ready to invest in the market research. Whereas other players in the market instead of spreading gossips about others shall invest more in the quality of their services. Bets regards to Cris Taylor, Chris Thompson and Conrad Westerman and the rest of the Antwerpen team! More
Went there to get a 2009 Highlander for the CARS Rebate. Was informed that the color we requested was not available but could be ordered. Instead of ordering the magnetic gray we wanted they ordered classi Was informed that the color we requested was not available but could be ordered. Instead of ordering the magnetic gray we wanted they ordered classic silver. For a MSRP of $31,800 I expect to get the vehicle I want not the one they offer. Sales rep tried to convince us that a silver one would be okay. Was only willing to drop down an additional $250 from the $31,000 we agreed on. Sales manager said basically good luck finding your color you want in stock. Called Alexandria Toyota and got the color we want a better priced vehicle almost $2K below MSRP with no hassles. I wish there was an option for zero stars! These shysters wasted 4 hours of my time trying to trick me into paying $1000 more than we negotiated on. First of all, they add $5 pinstripping and PepBo shysters wasted 4 hours of my time trying to trick me into paying $1000 more than we negotiated on. First of all, they add $5 pinstripping and PepBoys rubber door "rust protection" strips to the cars and mark up the prices $800!! Second, the internet prices they have listed include ALL rebates available (but it doesn't say that anywhere). Even if you couldn't possibly qualify for all of them. Very deceitful, bait and switch tactics! Early on in the conversation, before we talked price at all, the salesman asked if I was going to put money down. I said sure, I could put down $1k. We then negotiated the OTD price down to what I was willing to pay. We reached a deal, then I sat and waited for well over an hour while my info was "put through the system." Finally I went into the finance office. That's when I find out the "out the door" price we agreed on didn't include the $1000 I said I could put down! Like somehow my down payment isn't really included in the price I'll be paying for the car. I confronted the manager and he acted like I was being unreasonable and got an attitude with me. Where I come from "out the door" is total cost for the car, not "oh that's not including your down payment." Money is money. Oh yeah and the salesman wore no nametag, never told me his name, and never gave me a card. Guess he knows he's getting more bad press than good. Avoid this place like the plague! More
The most unprofessional salesman I have ever met! After starting shopping for RAV4 or CRV, I quoted for RAV4 limited from this dealer and they gave the base price. I asked again and they gave me the price starting shopping for RAV4 or CRV, I quoted for RAV4 limited from this dealer and they gave the base price. I asked again and they gave me the price for the car only without telling me dealer fee, freight..., and the car charge alone is a lot more expensive than others. I asked if they can show me the final price on the Maryland road. The salesman refused and accused me of asking too much. I am very surprised to see this sort of dealer surviving in the DC area! More
