Approximately two years ago when I just moved to Columbia from NJ, I took my Highlander to Antwerpin for an Oil Change and to check the brakes. They charged me approximately $60 for the oil change (synthetic from NJ, I took my Highlander to Antwerpin for an Oil Change and to check the brakes. They charged me approximately $60 for the oil change (synthetic oil) and gave me an estimate for about $1,200 to repair the brakes, telling me I needed all new calipers, discs, and pads for all wheels. Having some automotive experience, I found that hard to believe and took it to a local service station in Dayton. They said I needed pads and two discs but the calipers were fine. To this day, about two years later, I still have the same calipers and no problems. The day after the oil change mentioned above, I decided to check the oil level before heading back to NJ for a couple of days. To my surprise, the oil was old. I was charged full price for the oil change and it was never done. I immediately took it back to Antwerpin, complained to the manager on duty and demanded that it be changed, which it was. Fast forward to two years later: Although I never brought my car back to Antwerpin for servicing, I would periodically pick up some parts since it the closest Toyota dealer to my home. Today, I went to pick up some transmission fluid. As I handed the young woman behind the counter ("Saran"?) my money, I placed out my hand for the change and she rudely put it on the counter next to my hand. I then politely asked her for a bag for my two quarts of transmission fluid, and rather than placing the items in the bag, she held up the bag practically in front of my face, saying "there ya go." To top it off, she couldn't even thank a customer for the business. This place has lost ALL business from me forever! Shame on them since I plan on purchasing another Toyota shorlty to replace my 2000 Accord, and even another in the next year or two to replace my 2005 Highlander. More
I would be remiss if I did not mention this tidbit of valuable information. About a year ago, my future mother-in-law took her vehicle to Antwerpen Toyota for service (on the recommendation of her husban valuable information. About a year ago, my future mother-in-law took her vehicle to Antwerpen Toyota for service (on the recommendation of her husband). Seems that she had leaking valves covers on her '99 Camry V6. Paul Minick did the work (what a joke). This joker replaced the front VC gasket, but cleaned the rear VC housing off. Our guess was he used brake clean. Her husband looked at the vehicle (after she drove home) and found the rear VC gasket still leaking! He took the car back and Paul Minick told my future father-in-law that the problem was probably the pistons or something internal in the engine. I cannot remember the cost, but it included massive money to tear down the engine. Eventually, the rear VC was replaced, but it was toooo much drama for a mechanic to do his job right. More
My girlfriend had a horrible experience with Paul Tozier; very unprofessional toward women. He changed his tune and price when I showed up. We dealt with JC, who was ultra helpful and professional. I took my very unprofessional toward women. He changed his tune and price when I showed up. We dealt with JC, who was ultra helpful and professional. I took my girlfriend's vehicle in for service. They charged me for brake cleaner 3 times. Yes, because it was part of a 30K service. Then they charged me twice more for using this stuff. For what you ask? They couldn't answer. I took my anger out on the cashier Rainah, who was very sweet inspite of my ranting. Kyle, my service writer had no viable explaination for the overcharge. I asked to speak to the service manager, Kyle said he was out of town. Who walks past as I'm talking to Kyle, the service AND parts manager! The SM never looked at me or apologized, but he cancelled the extra parts off my bill. How does the PM figure in this? I believe it's Tim or Tom made a stupid comment about "we would never charge extra parts on a bill!" As I showed this princess the bill and asked for an explanation of my charges compared to the work performed, he shrugged his shoulders. Thanks for the horrible experience. I will drive out of the way to another Toyota dealership. More
Had a great experience at this dealership, not only with the salesman who sold me my car, but their manager and counterparts as well. After visiting a few dealerships up until then with subpar service, the the salesman who sold me my car, but their manager and counterparts as well. After visiting a few dealerships up until then with subpar service, the salesman here were very knowledgeable and helpful. This is the 2nd car my family has purchased from this dealer, which should be telling. It was a great experience from start (looking) to finish (finanace dept). More
I walked into Antwerpen to buy a Prius on a slow summer afternoon with no other customers in the showroom, yet not one salesman came over to me as I looked at the cars and looked around for assistance. Fi afternoon with no other customers in the showroom, yet not one salesman came over to me as I looked at the cars and looked around for assistance. Finally, a young woman came in the door and immediately came over to me asking if I needed help. I went for a test drive and ordered my car that day from her. She told me that she had only been there a few months and was leaving that week for another job given how unpleasant the staff is towards women. If their insulting behavior towards women wasn't enough - they had no knowledge of the cars they are selling. Since my salesperson left soon after I ordered and was gone by the time I took delivery, I called for information about the car and no one there could answer my questions and told me to call Toyota, which I did - only to be told that the salespeople are trained and should be able to answer my questions. Calls to the sales manager went unreturned. I later brought the car in for service much to my regret as I am sure I was overcharged and service was done that was not needed based on going to a different dealer later with much lower prices and recommendations for service. I had planned to buy my son a car around the same time and went elsewhere. More
My biggest complaint about this dealership is their overpriced cars and arrogance. We were in the market for a new minivan and had decided on the Sienna. They were unwilling to budge from the MSRP pl overpriced cars and arrogance. We were in the market for a new minivan and had decided on the Sienna. They were unwilling to budge from the MSRP plus were charging us an extra $800 for transfer fees even though the car was in their inventory. The salesman was very sly but lacked knowledge about the car. With a grin on his face he was saying we have to pay sales tax, delivery fee and processing fee. We asked why delivery fee when the car is right there and he just smiled and continued. However what ever questions we had about the specifics of the car he couldn't answer. He didn't know the car at all, but he was very quick to add $800 for no good reason. For example we asked about interior and exterior colors and we never straight answers. At least he should have known the basics. The manager Todd later came over and he was even worse. Didn't like him at all. He acted like he was doing us a favor by selling us an overpriced car. The whole experience lasted about 2 to 3 hours. He kept disapearing on us, would come back, say a few words and leave again. We walked out very disapointed. More
Purchased a 2009 Matrix S from these clowns in Jan 09. Purchased after market stain-protector for car. Simple H2O stained seats with stain-protector on it. Took dealership and Zylon TWO MONTHS to apply, Purchased after market stain-protector for car. Simple H2O stained seats with stain-protector on it. Took dealership and Zylon TWO MONTHS to apply, reapply, remove, reapply again, make entire interior sticky, then just give us new leather seats. All the while, I'm dropping off/picking up car at least once a week. Door & window control panel on drivers side door became loose. Dropped bucket of bolts off for repair. Service called me to pickup, stating they fixed the problem. Picked up car (this is last winter, so Feb/Mar of 2009). Panel still loose. xxxxxx in service tells me "The cold weather probably knocked it loose". Yeah, that MUST be it. Dropped car off again later in week. Picked up car and drove away. Two lights away, panel falls off, AGAIN! Drive back, state my frustration, they take car and order a whole new panel. Finally replaced. Three weeks for one repair. Car involved in THREE recalls in less than 1.5 years! Attempted to drop off car on Monday b/c TWO panels have fallen off car. Found out Toyota has SOLD all their lender cars. They do offer a rental via Enterprise for $35. SCREW YOU Antwerpen. I have been lied to. You have misled me. You have not told me the entire truth. Your staff is just awful with communication between each other. One more thing goes wrong and I will find an attorney and use the Maryland Lemon Law to force you to take this xxx back. I hate you. We looked at a veh online and spoke w/ Bill Shuey who promised the vehicle to be in excellent condition, and that the higher price was due to that fact and they would not budge on the price. I then spec promised the vehicle to be in excellent condition, and that the higher price was due to that fact and they would not budge on the price. I then specifically asked if the owner was a smoker to avoid waisting a 3 hour round trip and was told it was a non-smoker's vehicle. We arrived and dealt with another salesman as the one I had been dealing with was "on a test drive". The minute we opened the door to the vehicle, my wife and I could immediately tell it was a smoker's vehicle. There was ash in the ashtray and the cigarette lighter had been used to light cigaretts. I informed the new salesman of my disappointment and agravation having just waisted a 1 1/2 hour trip on Shuey's word. The Manager did agree to fill our vehicle with gas for the trouble, but then almost as an insult, offered to drop the price $500, making me laugh. This vehicle was $3-4 thousand over the Kelley Blue book and NADA for a vehicle in Average condition. Aside from being misled about the smoking, the vehicle also had normal wear for a used car, but was being portrayed as in excellent condition. Waste of time, and I would personnally direct others away from a dealership whose salesman portray dishonesty from the start of the relationsip. More
NOBODY should purchase from this dealer! They are full of lies and deception. I inquired online about a new Highlander that I was going to surprise my wife with. They had a bunch of Highlander's on their lies and deception. I inquired online about a new Highlander that I was going to surprise my wife with. They had a bunch of Highlander's on their website that interested me so I made an appointment to visit. When I got there, it turned out that none of the Limited models that I was interested in were there. I can understand if one or two were sold the day before and it hadn't been updated, but there were 6 of them with prices and everything that did not even exist in the first place. The saleswoman was very rude and abrasive insisting that I take a look at a lesser model while I was there. When I politely said no, they offered to get one from another dealer but insisted that I do all the paperwork on it first and sign all of the contracts. When I expressed that I did not feel confortable doing that, the woman said that I was not serious about buying a car then. I promptly left and bought the car at another local dealer that day. Antwerpen is filled with rude staff and managers and the facility is in desperate need of a cleaning! I will never step foot in that store again, and I recommend to all that noone else does either! Went shopping for a 2010 Prius. As soon as we parked the car we had a salesman running up to us. After looking over the limited inventory they had (one color available in the model we were interested in) w car we had a salesman running up to us. After looking over the limited inventory they had (one color available in the model we were interested in) we sat down to talk pricing and before we even started I was put a piece of paper in front of me saying to sign this stating that I would agree to buy if we reached a deal today. Im not sure how this is normally done but I personally feel uneasy signing anything unless I have a chance to agree on terms/ pricing, etc. We refused to sign but continued to try to work out a price. Also asked about state of Toyota recall's. Were assured that recalls were no big deal, Toyota was selling more cars now because of the publicity, and they had only heard of the floormats (we actually informed them of the most recent recall because they said they had never heard of it). When I know more about a Toyota from reading the news than a salesman it doesn't make me feel very comfortable with whatever they are telling me about the car and company. Of the 2 hours we were there, we maybe spent 15 minutes talking to our salesman. The rest of the time was spent waiting as he ran off to talk to sales manager. Finally sales manager ended up coming over. He explained to us that we were being unreasonable with our price because our trade in was (essentially) and hunk of junk and that it didn't make sense that we were concerned about the recalls because there was never anything wrong with any of the Toyota's but that the recall mess is a conspiracy by Obama administration to get Toyota back for making so much money on Clunkers incentive over the summer. While I appreciated having their political views dumped at me, we excused ourselves and left the dealer. We ended up going to Russell the same day and driving home in a new Prius. Should have gone there in the first place. More
