Due to some bad fortune, I ended up having to shop for a car earlier than I had expected to have to and during the pandemic, a situation I would not have voluntarily put myself in had I the choice. I went to a few dealerships in Portland, but all the salesmen were either super pushy or totally unhelpful. This did not help me feel better about my overwhelming situation. Luckily, I stumbled upon Alan Webb Chevrolet via a listing for a specific type of car I was considering at the time. I made an appointment with Mike Woods. He was available on short notice and let me know the specific listing I had inquired about was no longer there before I showed up (which I appreciated; if I had been hell-bent on that specific car I would have been able to save the trip). My friend and I were able to test drive the vehicle on our own because of Covid, which was great. Mike was absolutely no pressure. He was available to answer questions, but he made clear that I could spend as much time looking at and playing with the vehicle as I wanted. I felt he was trustworthy and respectful. I ended up buying the car and left in just a few hours. Of course, I’m one of those noobs who was a bit too hasty with the decision and the car ended up not being the right fit for me. I emailed Mike a few days later when I had decided I had to get something else. He was immediately accommodating and said I could come back and test drive some other options and see if I could find something I liked better. He was so nice and understanding – it made me feel much less embarrassed about the situation. They offered me a great trade-in price for the car I had just bought from them because they wanted to make it right. I did not expect that, but I very much appreciated it as I knew I would lose some money because of my mistake. I spent a ton of time in the car I was now considering (which, oddly enough was a vehicle he had suggested the first time I came in). Mike told me to test drive it twice, so I did. It was perfect for me and I couldn’t have found it without Mike. Next time I will ask him right off the bat what he suggests, since he knows what he’s doing! Thank you, Alan Webb Chevrolet! Our salesman wasn’t a leach. He had us look at the vehicle we came there to test drive. Even when we were unsure, he never tried to move us to another vehicle.
