I've used Acura of Ramsey for service since I got my 05 MDX new (from them). It's not the closest dealer to me, but after getting a headlight fixed somewhere else, I appreciate the low-key professionalism of Ramsey. They've always been excellent—Saturday appointments, loaners when I need them, high-quality work and fair prices. Tom Sabiel in service has always been very friendly and professional (the rest of the staff too). I've been able to keep that car in great condition for 9 years—now I bought a 14 MDX Advance from them, so I may not see the service department for awhile! More
I am a proud owner of a 2006 TL that I purchased from Stu Fogler and his manager Mike PanItz. They are both true professionals and a pleasure to do business with! I have had all the maintence of my car Stu Fogler and his manager Mike PanItz. They are both true professionals and a pleasure to do business with! I have had all the maintence of my car performed at this location and would highly recommend this dealership and those 2 employees to do business! They are the A Team of Acura! More
I bought my car new from this Dealer and have used them off and on over the last 5 years. First off I had some warranty work done and they loaned me a nearly new Acura RDX with Navi. It took them more than off and on over the last 5 years. First off I had some warranty work done and they loaned me a nearly new Acura RDX with Navi. It took them more than a week to fix the problem (faulty air bag) but I had their loaner so no issue there. I had another issue with a rattle noise that they could never fix but eventually the probelm went away by itself. I have found this car to have minor rattles that come and go but overall the car has been the most reliable trouble free car I have ever owned. For basic servicing the loaners ranged from newer Acuras to a 6 year old Honda Civic. Pricing for A1 Service is OK but I was once charged a whopping $275 for B1. I always change the cabin filter myself as they cost $15 and it takes about 3 minutes and no tools are needed. The dealer wants $80 for this! I have had the brake pads replaced at the dealer-but they resurfaced the rotors and within a year the brakes pulsate. I should have made it clear that I wanted new rotors so I could get another 65K without issue. The Service Advisors are friendly and helpful, but the prices are high and the quality of work other than a basic oil change is not that great. I plan to stay with my local mechanic going forward. Went in for a B1 service on 12/30/11, which calls for a systems check, oil change, and tire rotation. I know for a fact that the tires were not rotated because the front drivers side rim has an inch long o systems check, oil change, and tire rotation. I know for a fact that the tires were not rotated because the front drivers side rim has an inch long outward bend, causing the tire to lose air. I even inquired about having it fixed while I was there! Imagine my surprise when I noticed that I was putting air in the same left front tire, with the same bad rim, the very next day. Honestly, this dealership has given me nothing but grief over the last 3 years when it comes to the quality of work and quality control. I had brought the car in for the same LED panel issue, THREE times, settled a case out of court for breach of contract over it - this was last year. The dealership is overly obsessed with it's ratings, and the work shows - people are nice, but the service is TERRIBLE! Ironic. I had a service rep. beg me not to take the phone survey, opn a number of occations, until they were able to resolve numerous issues. Bring your car in and see for yourself... an aggravating experience, 95% of the time. More
Too many times when bringing my car in for service, i would leave to find something not put back correctly or service light still on. One time after rotating my tires, 3 lug nuts fell off as i was drivi would leave to find something not put back correctly or service light still on. One time after rotating my tires, 3 lug nuts fell off as i was driving. Fortunately, i only live a couple of miles from the dealership which is the ONLY reason why i've gone back as often as i have. Just bought a new MDX and will travel to Maywood or Wayne for service...that is how bad this dealership is. More
I brought my 2009 MDX for service (A1). They changed the oil and oil filter and run their multipoint inspection (about $32 with a coupon I got in the mail). They recommended replacing both the cabin and th oil and oil filter and run their multipoint inspection (about $32 with a coupon I got in the mail). They recommended replacing both the cabin and the engine air filters (recommended by the manufacturer to have it done every year). They showed me the cabin air filter, and it was really dirty. They quoted about $80 for it. I declined it, since I could do it myself, and their service guy accepted my decision (I thought he would give me a hard time). I order both parts online and payed for them about $45 (including shipping), so I saved some money. Before giving me the car back, they gave it a quick wash. I don't have experience with them diagnosing hard issues, but for regular car maintenance they are as good (or more) than my local mechanic, so I'm planning on bringing my car back next time. More
Having dealt with 4 Acura and 3 Honda dealers over the years, I find this dealership's service department to be the most incompetent I've ever encountered. They repeatedly mis-diagnosed and/or mis-repair years, I find this dealership's service department to be the most incompetent I've ever encountered. They repeatedly mis-diagnosed and/or mis-repaired one thing after another whereby I ended up getting these issues corrected at Acura of Manhattan where they pointed out the errors on Acura of Ramsey's behalf on MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. On one of those instances, Acura of Manhattan had to replace the interior rear deck panel because Ramsey said it needed to be changed out while claiming they couldn't do it due to the fact that Manhattan had previously replaced the rear deck sub woofer. It was discovered afterwards that the original panel was fine. Manhattan wound up swallowing the cost as a result. On another occasion, my side view mirror went into gyrations instead of tilting downward when going into reverse. The head of service came out and hit one side of the glass repositioning it. That made the mirror work again .... for 2 days! Acura of Manhattan CORRECTLY diagnosed the problem and replaced the actuator inside the mirror assembly. There's more examples like these from my Acura of Ramsey experience, but I think you've got the gist. The service & parts manager, Rick Cohen is by far and away one of the most obnoxious individuals I've ever met. No matter what or how I 'nicely' said or could prove to him in the midst of all this nonsense, his word was LAW. Do you really want to do business with a dealer like this? More
Just bought 2009 TL SH-AWD w/ tech. It had some engine valve noise (clipping sound when the engine revs up & down, also when in idle) so I took it to their service dept. The manager told me the sound was valve noise (clipping sound when the engine revs up & down, also when in idle) so I took it to their service dept. The manager told me the sound was normal. So I told him to have someone compare my car with exactly the same car at the lot. So did, and the other car had no such sound. I left the car there overnight for them to take a look. Also had my service rep compare with other cars just incase. I get a call next morning, they were not able to locate any car at their lot producing the same kind of noise. At this point, you would think the sound is not normal and they would make some kind of adjustment…. Wrong! They refused to do anything because ACURA Tech Support has told them not to despite the fact when the problem was recognized. If ACURA thinks that it’s OK for a customer to live with this annoying sound on a fully loaded, brand new, $40,000 car, then so be it. ACURA is cheap and their standard is low. I have a BMW X5, it also had a similar problem (tapping noise at cold start) they ordered new cylinder head part from Germany and fixed the problem. This is my 3rd ACURA and will be my last. More
