Went to IL DMV to title and plate and due to MULTIPLE paperwork errors it CAN NOT BE DONE. Called IN BMV and there is NO RECORD of transfer under my SSN. Temp tag expires one day before I make a very lucrative haul and multiple calls to AMS CARS result in "WE will have title clerk call you", "I did not sell you that truck" and resulting drop into a Voice Mail box with NO return call. CANNOT TITLE OR PLATE A VEHICLE AND NOW NEED TO LEASE A TOW VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIER MULTIPLE DOCUMENT ERRORS.... More
I am giving two stars simply because the one sales person I dealt with seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Other than that I have had enough problems with the car I purchased to warrant writing a review so tha I dealt with seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Other than that I have had enough problems with the car I purchased to warrant writing a review so that other people can have a bit of a heads up. I bought a 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid last month from the Indianapolis location and not even a week later I had to get a new 12V battery because it failed. I have since had the car for about a month and the hybrid battery failed a week and a half ago. I expressed my concerns about the hybrid battery and I was told that if I do not purchase a warranty through them I am on my own. Full disclosure I have not reached out to the dealership because it seemed pretty clear that they would not do anything after I purchased the car. They also were not very negotiable on price so I really didn't get a good deal considering the concerns that I had (I understand this is my fault for purchasing through them). I honestly do not think that they know much about the cars they sell because I was told they buy everything at auction to flip them. After the issues I have had I am positive that they do a quick "detail" (my car was still filthy in many places after a closer look at home) and make sure it starts and drives and that is about all you are going to get. I really regret going through this dealership but I did not have much time to find a car so I did not have a lot of choices. I will definitely not be going back to them into the future. Now that I have explained my experience I would like to make some quick recommendations for anyone buying a used hybrid car. Look for the Dr. Prius app and buy a Bluetooth ODB ll scanner so that you can check the health of the hybrid battery. The Dr. Prius website list compatible ODB ll dongles that will work so that you can check the health of the battery before you purchase the car. Then you can either negotiate a better price based on the condition of the battery or find a better car. Had I done this I would have saved $3,500 that I had to pay for a new battery. I really hope this information helps someone make a more informed decision than I made so that you do not have the same issues that I have had. More
Real pleasurable experience working with the entire staff, test drove multiple vehicles, wasn't able to get financed at this time. Will definitely consider checking out their fine inventory next time staff, test drove multiple vehicles, wasn't able to get financed at this time. Overall, we experience both positives and negatives with our experience purchasing from AMS cars. Initially we contacted them by phone after finding the vehicle we were interested in online because we would our experience purchasing from AMS cars. Initially we contacted them by phone after finding the vehicle we were interested in online because we would be coming from out of state four hours away. We wanted to make sure the vehicle was on the lot and available and that they would be willing to hold it while we drove the four hours which they agreed also since we were coming out of state and I had a preapproved ready loan check from my local credit union. I needed to know the total amount out the door for the check she put me on hold after taking my ZIP Code to confirm the tax amount and then got back to me with a figure so we headed the four hours to Indianapolis from Lansing Michigan. Traffic was not great being so close to Christmas and we arrived only 10 minutes before the dealership closed, it seemed slightly rushed. The lighting in the parking lot was not very good so we were not able to get a very good look at the vehicle, not noticing some body damage and a small crack by the front fender light until we arrived home with the vehicle the next day . We took the vehicle for a test drive and it was on E and no windshield wiper fluid was coming out we asked at the dealership to fill the gas tank and the fluids which they happily agreed to. Then we sit down to go over paperwork. She told us it was a Prius four, which is what we were wanting that meant it would have navigation and also heated seats which was on our checklist. However, that information given was not correct which we also did not find out until after we had purchased the vehicle and gotten it home a few days later actually before we figured out what model it was it is a Prius to not a Prius four. So the vehicle does not have navigation, nor does it have heated seats as we were expecting. It only had two owners no accidents according to the Carfax and lower on the mileage side so at least there’s that, but we are quite disappointed with the features that we’re not there. Also, upon sitting down to do papers once she realized that my check was not in fact, pre-filled out, she told me that she remembered some thing and thought it was a few dollars more so she went to the back and came out with a new out of door total for my check. Ironically, it was an additional $25 to cover the gas that they put in the tank for us. I definitely would’ve rather just put in $25 and paid interest on that $25 on the back end of my loan for five years so I definitely thought that that was not Cool. Again, I didn’t realize this until after we had gotten home the next day, or I would’ve brought it to their attention at that time. Also, paperwork had to be re-printed because there was first an error in the spelling of my name. And the second time there was an error in the my personal address on the sales paperwork although they did tell us that we would not need to re-print the papers because the error in the address would not affect anything legally so we left them as they were with the incorrect address. I hope that doesn’t come back to bite us in the future. So like I said, overall, there were positives and negatives that we experienced with the entire transaction of this purchase with AMS cars. The staff were definitely kind and communicated well over the phone, but there were definitely some things mentioned above that we wish had gone differently. More
Had scheduled a appointment to see a specific car knowing I was coming from an hour away. They called when I was 10 minutes out from being there on time and notified me they had just sold the car. I didn’t buy a car, I inquired about a car and the fact that it had a salvaged/ rebuilt title. The response was a canned and along the lines of “Yes the car is available, would like to schedule a test driv that it had a salvaged/ rebuilt title. The response was a canned and along the lines of “Yes the car is available, would like to schedule a test drive?” The person managing the online sales didn’t even read the question, or chose to ignore the context of the question. It was enough for me to not go look at a car with a salvage title. More
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! You will regret it. CALL BETTER BUSINESS Bureau first THEY HAVE MANY CLAIMS AGAINST THEM!!! My husband and I spoke with this dealership for over a month discussing CALL BETTER BUSINESS Bureau first THEY HAVE MANY CLAIMS AGAINST THEM!!! My husband and I spoke with this dealership for over a month discussing our needs in a truck, something reliable that I would be driving across country delivering livestock. We asked if the specific truck we were looking at had been checked over by a mechanic and they said yes their mechanic went over it and said it was all in good working order. We paid 25,000 for a 2003 dodge. In less that 24 hours the transmission went completely out and I was stranded in Virginia with livestock for more than 2 weeks with no offer of any compensation from this dealership. The mechanic that replaced the transmission said they probably put sawdust in it so it wouldn’t slip while we test drove it. They said we could only test drive it around the few blocks next to their dealership. That should have been the first big red flag, then when we told them it wasn’t running correct they said it was just the tune that had to be taken off due to epa laws. 2nd big red flag, we told them we were not going to buy it even though we drove 6 hours and had livestock with us to be transported, they had the owner come out and say he had driven this truck personally and would feel comfortable putting his wife in it and sending her across the country with livestock, then offered to take $500 off of the price. We were kind of in a bind to get the livestock to point b and through there might be some sort of timeframe to take it to a mechanic and take it back. In Kamsas there is a 3 day period that the vehicle can be brought back. When it completely quit moving in Virginia, we contacted them and they told us we bought it as is!! That there is nothing they could do for us!! My husband finally talked to them and they agreed to send us some money to help. They said they would send $1200 for the $6000 bill to have the transmission replaced 😡. Now we have seen no money and they will not return our calls. I’m thinking about taking a month off of work and standing in front of this dealership with a sign that says ask me why you should not buy a car from these thieves!!! More
Were very rude on the phone and told them what car we were interested in and what time we would be there. They told us they would have it ready and then sold it before we got there and didn't call to tel were interested in and what time we would be there. They told us they would have it ready and then sold it before we got there and didn't call to tell us. We drove 30 minutes there and they were not apologetic at all and didn't even try to help us find another car. More
The team at this dealership were so nice and patient. We were assisted by Dave and the whole process was very easy. In less than 24 I was approved for financing and driving home in my new minivan. The price were assisted by Dave and the whole process was very easy. In less than 24 I was approved for financing and driving home in my new minivan. The prices are fair and they have a variety of really nice vehicles. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. More
