My overall experiences at Sweeney have been wonderful! The friendly and knowledgeable staff have helped with all of my queries and get me the best prices I can find. Trust me, I look around! Going to a ca The friendly and knowledgeable staff have helped with all of my queries and get me the best prices I can find. Trust me, I look around! Going to a car dealership is normally a hassle for me, but Sweeney really knows their stuff and are eager to help ME, rather than trying to help themselves to my wallet! I've recently priced a new car, and I would recommend anyone to visit this dealer because at the bottom line, time is money, and money is money. In this case, money and time are always saved when being helped by the staff at Sweeney. They've really given me a breath of fresh air during the hassles of buying a new automobile! More
I am very happy with my car and with the dealership, My old car died, on a Monday Night on the way to work So I filled out the online information at Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC website. I told them what old car died, on a Monday Night on the way to work So I filled out the online information at Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC website. I told them what I was looking for. A Good used car, I had no money to put down. I needed low payments I got off work Tuesday Morn and they called me Tuesday! Less then 24hrs from the time I filled out the online form. I was in need of a good car! For a Good Price! And Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC found me one. Now they could have showed me older car and had me pay more for it, I was in a bit of a spot I may had taken less of a car, but they didn't just find me a ok car, They found me a great car. A 2007 Cobalt with only 49,000 miles on it and it looks like new. It even had new tires & new brakes so I did not have to run out and look for new tires soon as I bought a used car. My old car broke down Monday, By Thusday night I was in my new car. Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC is #1 in my book. You have won a customer for life. You probably saved my job and my house. In these times its good to know you can still get a good fair deal from a company, service & salesmen you can trust. Thank you! Tim Davis More
I had a great experience with my salesman, but not the best experience with the dealership as a wholeand that is why I didn't know exactly what to rate on my answers. I have dealt with my salesman for y best experience with the dealership as a wholeand that is why I didn't know exactly what to rate on my answers. I have dealt with my salesman for years and will continue to do so, because I do not blame him for the issues I had with the dealership. The night of my purchase I was directed to an accessories sales rep who encouraged me to order mud flaps for my new car. Having them on my previous car, I decided to do so. She told me they would cost $60.00 but I would have to order them because they did not have them in stock. So, I placed the order and set up a date for installation, only to get a phone call the next day telling me that they did have them in stock and so my installation date was changed. Had she checked that evening, I could have eliminated another time to come back. Then, when I did return for the installation and it was time to pay the cashier, she gave me a total of $172.39. Imagine my surprise when I was told they would cost $60.00. A huge difference in price. The cashier said it was labor and extra parts, which should have been told to me at the time of purchase. What if I didn't have the money to pay for them? Would they have taken the time to remove them, which would have been another hour or more! There was a time when the dealer would include mud flaps as an extra incentive and thank you for the purchase. Guess those days are gone. Then, I had a phone call on a Friday afternoon telling me my license plates were in so I could pick them up at the front desk. I called on Saturday to ask what their business hours were and said I was coming in to pick up my plates. When I got to Sweeney Chevrolet, it looked like the employees were having a party. Open bags of potato chips and cookies were on the front counter and everyone was standing around in a group. The desk person had her back to me as I entered and proceeded to continue her conversation with the others and then turned around, continuing to eat her cookie and asked if she could help me. I told her why I was there and she looked, and said the plates were not there. I was asked three times by three different people if I got a phone call and I finally said, "If I didn't get a call, I wouldn't be here". So, I was told the person who called must have left them on her desk and her office was locked. My salesman was contacted by the receptionist and he apologized to me and offered to bring them to my home the following Wednesday evening, but I was not going to be available then, so I said I would come back myself. I came to Sweeney Chevrolet thinking I was going to have a good selection of Chevy Cruze, but only had one to pick from. Two others there were already sold. I had heard good things about the Cruze so decided to go ahead and lease the only one available, as I was told they go out as quickly as they come in. I am enjoying the car but now heard there is a recall due to a steering problem. Hope this is not a sign of more problems to come because they were in a rush to produce more cars! More
I would like to start first with the positive that I love my vehicle!! I purchased a GMC Terrain after a recent auto accident totaling my previous car. I do a lot of traveling going to school and couldn't ha my vehicle!! I purchased a GMC Terrain after a recent auto accident totaling my previous car. I do a lot of traveling going to school and couldn't have picked a better vehicle. Other than the loving the vehicle this has been a TERRIBLE experience. We set up a time with our salesman to go in and test drive both the GMC Terrain and Cheverolet Equinox. Ray was very accomidating & friendly upon first impression. When leaving that day we told him exactly what we wanted in our GMC Terrain. He assured us that he would take care of finding the vehicle we wanted on Monday and call us. By Thursday we still had not received a follow up phone call so we called him. After leaving several messages he finally called back to let us know he had found a vehicle and wanted us to come in that evening to sign papers before going to pick up the vehicle for another dealership. I asked if he could give us an idea about what the payment was going to be and was told the gentleman in finaces would discuss that with us this evening he did not have that answer. Excited to be getting the vehicle we went in to sign papers. Ray told us he was busy with other customers and we would be working with financing. He took us back and introduced us after quickly showing us the vehicle he found. When reviewing this information I immediately noticed the difference in price from what he had originally showed us. We then signed some paperwork and we left a $7000 down payment with financing. Still at this point no one could tell us exactly what our payments were going to be so when we came topick up our new car we could have extra to put down if needed to get our payment where it needed to be. Upon leaving we realized that the vehicle they were getting did not have the convenience package we really wanted including remote start and heated seats. Though some would say that is really not a huge deal we figured if we are purchasing a $30,000 vehicle we should be getting what we wanted. I told the salesman if he could have the remote start installed before picking the vehicle up I would consider taking that vehicle. After and entire day of playing phone tag and unanswered phone calls my husband called and became firm and aggressive and told him we did not want the vehicle that we wanted what we told him we wanted originally. We had already had phone calls from other dealers telling us they could have the vehicle within a day including EVERYTHING we wanted. I chose to complete the transaction with Sweeney because that is where we started. After another WEEK and my husband making yet another phone call we finally received a phone call telling us they ad the CORRECT vehicle and we could come and pick it up and finish signing papers. That next day in a blizzard my husband and I picked up our vehicle and finished signing papers. My husband was VERY angry at this point because of all the broken promises and putting us off. He was kindly told that they are very busy and didn't have time for us. We were a given sale and time wouldn't have had to be made for us if things were done in the first place. Once the dealership had closed our salesman left before we had even finished going over everything with another employee on how things worked. Since Ray had already left we never got our 2nd set of keys. We picked up our vehicle on 2/21/2011 here we are on April 8,2011 we still have no idea when we are going to get our spare set of keys and have been given MANY different answers ranging from the other dealer forgot to give them to us and they will mail them, to they are not able to make a copy of the key due to the remote start, to it will take 6 weeks to get one from the manufacturer. They did send someone to install the front liscense plate holder, since it is a law here in Ohio. He informed told me in the morning he was going to check with the dealership that he did not see any reason why a new key could not be made off the vin number and he would call me the next day and drop off the key. That was Tuesday, it is now Saturday and still NO word from ANYONE. We have call two different sales managers for assistance one has yet to call us back and it has been 6 weeks and the other passed the call on to someone else to handle. My husband's lease will be up in September for his vehicle and we had high hopes of working with Sweeney again because of the variety of vehicle offered. After this experience we will NEVER do business with them again and have been sure to tell our friends the same!!!! UPDATE 2/15/2011 By the end of the week that Harry (service) came to my home and installed the front liscence plate bracket we had our second set of keys. Not only did we get thinm quickly he also delivered them to our home. We still have not heard from our salesman that the keys were in as promised and have never received a call back from the sales manager Derek. More
In December of 2010 I purchased a used Saturn Vue from Sweeney. The price was reasonable, the car seemed great at the time, and Rachelle was friendly enough (in that awkward used car salesman sort of way Sweeney. The price was reasonable, the car seemed great at the time, and Rachelle was friendly enough (in that awkward used car salesman sort of way). However, within a month it became apparent that there was something wrong with the vehicle. It began running loud. Then it began running VERY loud. I had read reviews of the Saturn Vue stating that engine noise was one major complaint, so I chalked it up to the cold weather and figured it would work get better come spring. About the time that I realized this noise was WAY too loud to be regular engine noise, a chunk of the exhaust pipe fell (roughly 18-20 inches in length, where the pipe comes out of the manifold and contains the bank one O2 censor and catalytic converter) fell off of the vehicle as I drove through a parking lot at approximately 10 mph. After finding out that the part was not covered by my extended warranty (and would cost roughly $2,500 to fix at a local dealership) I contacted Sweeney. I did not go to them first because they are located in Youngstown and I live in Akron, so I took the vehicle to a local dealership hoping it would be covered by my warranty which is honored at all certified GM dealers. The service center at Sweeney informed me that I would have to speak with Ed, the used car manager, about any possible reimbursements for cost since I had only owned the car for about 6 weeks before it fell apart. I called Ed approximately 6 times over the course of a business week and left voicemails each time with my name and telephone number. The receptionist at the front desk informed me each time that Ed was in the office that day, but for whatever reason he did not answer his phone and would not return my calls. When I eventually got in touch with him, he informed me that a local muffler shop could fix the vehicle for roughly $150 and he would split the cost with me. I took him up on this offer and took my vehicle to Mac Automotive in Youngstown. The work was done for about $145 and I was informed that I would just need to purchase and install an O2 censor. When asked about the catalytic converter I was informed that the piece which had fallen off was merely a "pre" catalytic converter and that its absence would have no effect on the vehicle. After getting the vehicle home to Akron, I took it to a local mechanic to have the O2 censor installed. The next day the "Service Engine Soon" light came back on. I took it back to the local shop and was informed that the light would continue to come on and remain on because I was missing a catalytic converter. When I told them what I was told about the "pre" converter, they informed me that I had been deceived and that the catalytic converter in question was vital to keeping the vehicle running well and was necessary to pass an e-check. I called Ed at Sweeney that same evening and left another voicemail about the issue. Two days later he had still not returned my call so I called again, leaving another voicemail. Three days after that, with still no call from Ed I called a third time and was able to speak with him. I told him my situation and he informed me that I "need to take responsibility of (my) own vehicle" even though the work done by his mechanic was ILLEGAL under Ohio Revised Code 3704.16 "Prohibiting tampering with motor vehicle emission control systems". He went on to state that he remembered me saying in the past that I had wrecked the vehicle, which is untrue. In summary, the Used Car Manager was rude, insulting, and unprofessional. He showed that he did not care about my concerns by continually ignoring my phone calls. When the work was done it was done not only in a shoddy manner (ie, the problem was not fixed, simply covered up) but in a manner which ILLEGALLY deceived me into believing that my federally mandated emissions system was fully intact and operable when it was not. This experience (which is still ongoing) has been one of the worst I have had with any place of business and I would advise anyone in the market for a new or used vehicle to stay as far away from Sweeney Chevy as possible. My family and I have been long time customers of the Sweeney car dealership. They are very willing to work with you, take their time to make sure you are getting the best price, and are happy with your Sweeney car dealership. They are very willing to work with you, take their time to make sure you are getting the best price, and are happy with your decisions. We really wanted to save money on a car payment and we were given a great deal. It took several phone calls and one trip to find the car we wanted. Greg was very patient with us and he never rushed our decision. The night we picked up the car was busy, but they made sure we were completely taken care of and we did not feel rushed through with the financing or getting to know the car process. Overall, we were very satisfied and we will definitely do business with them in the future. We also recommend them to anyone who is looking to purchase or lease a new car. More
