This dealership sold us a used 1999 Ford Explorer. The same night after purchasing the car, the transmission service light came on. We took the car to a transmission service shop, and they would not even service the transmission because they said it was faulty and required replacing. We took the car to yet another mechanic and they gave us the same assessment. Both shops indicated that the dealership was aware of the condition of the transmission at the time of the sale. We called the next day to advise the dealer of this. They were skeptical of this assessment and instructed us to bring the car back to their shop to take a look at it. They had their mechanic look at it & even he admitted that the transmission required replacing. Needless to say, we were sick at this news. The cost to replace a transmission would be as much as the car cost. The dealership offered to replace the transmission with a cash for clunker transmission, and we would have to pay for the labor to install the transmission. That was a reasonable offer, but the reality is that they kept the car for about 3 weeks after stating that it would take only a day to make the swap. There were daily calls to the dealership asking for status. The first thing was the mechanic had a family emergency and was 'gone' for 2 weeks. Once he returned, then it was another week before the sales manager called to say they had tried 3 times to get another transmission without success, and said 'come get the car'. After reporting their behavior to the Better Business Bureau, they were offering to use one of their transmission shops at a lower rate...this was a month after picking up the car. They couldn't have done that earlier?? We bought the car in the hopes in getting a reasonable reliable car. Needless to say, this was a disaster. There was no resolution to the complaint to the BBB, not that one was expected. We disposed of the car at a huge loss. These guys are the epitome of 'USED CAR SALESMEN'. The only comment to anyone considering buying a used car there is BUYER BEWARE.
