“Buying a used car is like buying a computer from a pawnshop” This is a direct quote from Chris, the sales manager, at Carr Subaru. Avoid this pawnshop, folks!
We purchased a used Hyundai Kona from Carr Subaru. Before we signed anythingf we learned that the charger door was broken. They kept the car to fix the door and delivered it to us two days later. When the car was dropped off, they had forgotten the temporary tags and hadn’t removed any of the sales stickers. They also delivered only one key. Figuring they also forgot that, we reached out to request the second key. It was then that they disclosed that there isn’t a second key - a fact that they kept from us during the sales process. (We traded in a car with 2 keys, and as this was our first used car purchase, did not suspect that they would keep that from us) A replacement key costs around $750- no small amount. We requested they cover the cost of the key replacement, which Chris refused to do. In the conversation about the transaction Chris simultaneously claimed they “lost money on the deal”, that she hadn’t pulled the deal and didn’t know the terms, and that they never “hid” from us that there was only one key. Not disclosing and hiding are synonymous is my book. Treating your customers like they are patrons of a pawnshop is bad business, and we will not be doing business with these people again
We test drove a vehicle with Sam, then made an offer on it during a text exchange. He offered to get it at that price. Then we set up a time next day to pick up our new car, drove into the city to do this, and during the ride, there was another text exchange. He notified us the car would actually be more money. We balked, and we said we had agreed to a set price the day before. He said we didn’t actually have a deal the day before. We were frustrated at the non- transparency, and so we said he could keep the car. He said that he couldn’t actually keep this car, because it has sold. But he could sell us another. This confused us even more. Why were we coming to pick it up then? All in all, not transparent, not professional. … We wasted a lot of time dealing with him. And the car in question is still up on their website for sale, days later. Sheesh.
I purchased a 2019 Chevy Bolt at the end of 2024. My primary purpose was to get a good value and take advantage of the Federal EV tax credit. They were able to apply at the time of sale (registered with IRS). They have a great selection of Chevy Bolts to choose from. I had a specific budget and they worked with me to find the right vehicle. I worked directly with Bethany McNichols, whom was a pleasure to work with. I appreciated her friendly nature and attentiveness to my requests. The sales manager and finance person were also great. I normally dread dealing with car dealerships, and I had a great experience. I was very flexible, and had other options, so was not feeling any pressure. They were very reasonable, and I didn't feel high pressure tactics or aggressive overselling that I've experienced elsewhere. If you need one of the GM buyback Volts that have been refurbished, go here!!! Great selection, fair price, and quick transaction.
Had a very easy and good trade in experience with Jessica Wallach! She made the process very smooth— very transparent, answered all our questions easily w/ specs on all the things we were interested in, no pressure, and very kind and professional. Carr gave us a fair trade for our Ascent and we love our new car. Many thanks, Jessica!
Loved working with Jess! Couldn't have asked for a better experience! We tried out a number of cars including the Solterra, Outback Wilderness, and Forester. If I, at 6'7" and 260 pounds, would have fit better in any of the cars I would have bought.
My experience with Travis and RJ at CARR Subaru was the smoothest and most pleasant I've ever had at a dealer. We came to look at a specific Crosstrek Limited at an outstanding price, and Travis could not have made the process any easier. He was polite, knowledgable, transparent, and exceedingly helpful. And, when it came time to purchase, RJ kept up the high standards with his straightforward, highly competent, efficient, and helpful finesse. After purchase service was also first-rate: we had a little technical hiccup, and Travis calmed me down and followed through immediately to make sure the concern was addressed. We are now big fans of CARR: committed and high integrity employees like these are gems.
