With a footprint similar to the old C-class coupe, two available powertrains, and all manner of standard cabin tech, the CLE-class carries all the latest and greatest features Mercedes has to offer in a slick two-door coupe or convertible form factor. The CLE300 carries a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, which is good for 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard. Both powertrains are 48-volt hybrids, incorporating an electric motor that can add up to 23 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, as well. We got a chance to test drive both the CLE300 and CLE450 for ourselves and came away happy with their performance. They drive much like the E-class sedan. Every CLE-class comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge display that handles traditional cluster duties and offers three distinct visual styles. In addition, an 11.9-inch central touchscreen runs the latest version of Mercedes-Benz's MBUX infotainment software. You can use the touchscreen to interact with the infotainment system, or you can use touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel. The system also responds to voice commands, so if you get stuck and really can't figure something out you can just say 'Hey Mercedes' to get its attention. Just as life is better lived in sandals, motoring with the top down in the all-new 2024 Mecedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet t feels a little like a permanent vacation. There's enough cabin space to fit you and three other fun people comfortably yet the body proportions still look pretty athletic. The 2+2 convertible is usually about compromise in function or form, but somehow Mercedes has hit a sweet spot with the CLE Cabriolet. It combines the sexier compact dimensions of the C-Class convertible with the luxury proportions and accommodations of the E-Class convertible, resulting in a fun, comfortable, topless package that ticks all the boxes. At some point, you may have to close the roof. Mercedes' multilayer acoustic soft top does an excellent job of making you forget you even bought a convertible.
