It won the Editors' Choice award from Car and Driver! This award recognizes vehicles that perform well, are enjoyable to drive, and offer a good value. It also won the Premium Family SUV of the Year Award, which recognizes the CX-90's combination of performance and sophistication. ''Yes, the all-new 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV is an excellent hybrid SUV. Nearly every aspect of its performance is impressive, from its spunky acceleration to its sharp handling and composed ride. This CX-90 also has an all-electric driving range of 25 miles, making it capable of covering most daily commutes or around-town errands with zero emissions. Inside, there are quality materials throughout, the infotainment system is straightforward, and there's seating for up to eight occupants across three rows.'' This three-row midsize SUV boasts strong overall performance, a powerful yet fuel-efficient engine, comfortable ride quality and seats, AND refined luxury-leaning interior! The CX-90 was selected for the 2024 Editors' Choice list, which recognizes vehicles that are enjoyable to drive, fulfill their intended mission, and offer a strong value proposition. The 2024 CX-90 PHEV gets an EPA-estimated 56 MPG-equivalent in combined city/highway driving in all-electric mode. When operating as a hybrid, it gets a combined 25 mpg city/highway. This Mazda has an all-electric driving range of 25 miles. It takes 6 hours and 40 minutes to charge the battery from 20% to 80% using a standard 120-volt household-style power outlet. The same charge takes about 90 minutes with a home 240-volt outlet (like what you use for large appliances), a dedicated home charger or a public Level 2 charger. Charging the car from an empty battery to 100% capacity takes a lot longer: 11 hours with standard charging and 2 hours, 20 minutes using a Level 2 charger. With its odometer now hovering around 8,010, it is STILL COVERED under the balance of the factory BUMPER-TO-BUMPER warranty until August 2026 or 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first)! Additionally, its engine, transmission and drive axles will be covered by the remainder of the POWERTRAIN warranty until 2028 or 60,000 miles! The CX-90 PHEV employs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a plug-in hybrid system with a single electric motor that pulls power from a 17.8-kWh battery pack. Combined output is 323 hp and 369 lb-ft, and Mazda estimates you can travel up to 26 miles on a full charge. It also has an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Charging the battery from zero to 100% when using a 240-volt power source takes about two hours and 20 minutes, Mazda says. The plug-in hybrid models add a digital instrument panel. Standard driver assist features include: Frontal collision mitigation (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios) Adaptive cruise control (adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front) Blind-Spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning (alerts you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse) Lane keeping assistance (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane) Driver attention monitor (issues an alert if sensors determine you are becoming fatigued) Safe exit assist (can prevent a rear passenger from opening a door into traffic approaching from behind) Rear seat reminder (alerts you to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle) The Edmunds-recommended Premium trim dresses up the CX-90 with: 21-inch wheels Chrome exterior
